Thread: Best PvP Rifle
Cauil wrote:I trust your math, thanks for taking the time to do it. So I guess ideally we want to get enough SEA to be speed capped, that way we can use a rifle based not on speed but damage type, accuracy and total damage. Assuming that I do that, then it looks like the DXR6-B is the one to use to get state effects to stick as it has the higher accuracy mods, then switch to the Jawa or T21 depending on whether or not they have a PSG equiped.
I have heard that I would need an additional 7 to my speed at Master to hit the speed cap for just about any rifle, is this true? I have been waiting to do anything with regards to speed though because I don't know how speed for us is going to get hit with the combat balance.
If you arent exceptionally wealthy (or lucky) I'd save your money until the balance.
That is at minimum 6 weeks away, so if you play heavily or got the cash it may be worth buying.
- With Speed 97 you will cap every special at 1.0 speed with a gun of speed 9.5 or less.
An unmodified T21 is typically crafted with about 7.5 speed. Speed 96 requires a 7.3 Speed weapon - hence the reason 97 is needed.- However, you dont necessarily use every special in PvP. The slowest special is strafeshot2.
So quick check of this table:
time.mod 909397
------------
HeadShot2x1.755.718.1619.05
HeadShot3x25.007.1416.67
FlurryShot2x2.34.356.2114.49
StrafeShot2x3.52.864.089.52
You might find that with 93 speed you can use:
a speed sliced T21 + min/max powerup
a damage sliced DXR6B + speed/min powerup
a damage sliced Jawa Ion rifle + min/max powerup
My advice is to get yourself a +3 or +4 tape if it is available cheaply and you've got the cash, always get guns designed to make the best use of your speed.

well if you are shooting at a jedi with master saber your pretty much SOL the have a saber block which blocks 85% of shots that would have HIT not counting all the misses best bet is to try and apply states b/c even if they block the state sticks and hopefully have a melee back up prof or a friend to dish some damage
Or, you can spend a ton of money for an exceptional t-21 which will kill jedi knights in about 2-3 shots

good point. with a good high DMG T21 (now im talking exceptional stats) you could rely on dumb luck to pass jedi block while kiting to fight a jedi but to be completely honest, a DXR with good accuracy mods is your best bet, The more accurate, the more you hit, the more chance you have of passing saber block
I use a DXR6 currently and have a decent T21 as well but neither seem to fit the Ranger look as well as a Tusken Rifle.

Tell me more about the Tusken Rifle. I love the look of the things but most I have seen have been junkers.
In PvP vs armored players, it's useless. In PvE vs high level MOBs, it takes a back seat to the T21, the DX6Rb, and the Laser. One-on-One vs a Jedi, it'll get you killed. In large player events or base assaults where a Jedi may show their face... That's the one job I made it for. It delivers consistant damage with almost no mitigation. AP is moot against Jedi. The lack of a blaster bolt doesn't give your position away. It's also not bad against the very heavy healing templates for it's wounding. It'll never compare to an MCM's disease for black baring someone, but it will start taking chunks out of them that won't heal.
As a roleplaying Ranger it'll do you well in lowto mid range hunts, but you'll want a real gun to go big game hunting. If you want to try to reproduce it, it was crafted with a High Caliber Projectile Rifle barel (Imp Theame park?), Gorax enhanced Advanced projectile feed mech (crafted toward damage), Advanced Rifle stock (also crafted toward damage), and an Advanced Scope (crafted toward wounding).
All in all aside from the one job I made it for, or for a role player, it's a novelty under the current game mechanics. I sold it notlong ago to one of my better customers as a wall hanger in his slicers show room. Maybe after the CURB, it'll have it's day.

and how did you do that with the jedi cause it sounds like he didnt hit you 1 single time? plz tell me how :-)
Not sure if you were talking about me or the other person's post vs. Jedi. I'll answer for me. The DJK did hit me a few times, mainly w/ force lightnig and think once w/ his saber. He did incap me once, but my heal and his hit were timed perfectly I guess, cause I went down and was right back up. Got the incap message but didn't have to wait, thankfully.
I mainly ran, this was a long fight, 90mins, I did a post on the Shadowfire forum, lol, "My own Master Card Commercial".
My CM skills helped, keeping him poisoned and then making sure he was always bleeding too. This was a long fight. I wan't even playing my rifles toon. I had logged him on to train my other toon and got jumped by the DJK right outside of town on Dant. It was hit kill, and I just couldn't let that stand. W/o the sound on, I didn't even know what happened. Was just alive... Then dead, lol
