don't want to turn this into a 'who carries more guns' thread, but I'm a rifleman who carries at least eight rifles.

'course, as a wook, I carry a bowcaster, which is one that most of y'all have no reason to play with...

Social I agree, if they do anything like this it should be point based. Why have a condition number if it's percentage based?

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.

I wonder: do they decay if you keep them in a backpack?

I just tested it and I can confirm that items decay 3% on incap regardless of them being insured or not.

Wow i hadnt read this. If this holds true its going to be majorly exploitable... The cost to keep items will be too expencive so they are going to produce an assload of unarmed fighters that wont use armor.

Wow, that must be their master plan to "un-nerf" brawler. Just make all the other classes that much more crappy.

I got one word for this. **edit**

What bothers me about this the most is the "why" of it all. Literally. Why do this? Who does it benefit? Let's see.

Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths: Have you ever met a competant Armorsmith or Weaponsmith that was hurting for cash? Seriously? And notice I said "competant", not just some idiot that grinds up to Master and suddenly thinks everyone should pay him 30K for his lousy-resource Laser Rifles. I can't think of any. In fact, the Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths I know are some of the wealthiest players in the game. They don't need to make more money off of an item decay penalty.

Tailors: Clothes don't have a natural decay. I can understand why the Tailors might be upset about that. But this is not the right fix for it! Clothes should have their own item decay system. Besides, most of the truly expensive clothes are worn by the Enterteiners, and they're not going to be running out in the field getting killed. Make a real item decay system.

Um. . . that's about my entire list. No one else gains a thing from this sort of change.

It's not a good "death penalty" (even though I am in favor of making death more of a thing to avoid) because it penalizes players in an area of their character that they have no control over. Their equipment. It also unevenly penalizes players that need to carry more gear, weapons or armor around with them. It FURTHER penalizes players that have the most expensive guns, and, of course, Riflemen are on the top of that list.

Lets see if I understand this...

A 20% decay per death??
I carry the following, with their approximate replacement costs:

A nice T21.... replacement cost .... 35K (or more)
A very nice Laser rifle .................... 15K
A very nice E11 .............................. 15K
A good DLT20A .............................. 5K
A Krayt FWG5 for up close ............ 10K (or more)
(and others, but I can drop them)
TOTAL REPLACEMENT $$ .......... 79K$

Considering a weapon should probably be replaced at 30%-40% condition, this means I get ju
st over 3 Deaths before having to try to repair and/or replace everything??

HELL NO !

Remember that we are talking about percentages, so a 1000 condition rifle will lose the following amounts if you are incapped and killed repeatedly in a clone center by an opposing alligned player:

200

160

128

102

82

65.5

52.4

42

33.6

26.8

21.5

At this point the actual quality of the gun would be 85.9. That's a mere 11 deaths - something many novice rifleman see in 5 hours of play

(Multiply any of the above numbers by 5, then by 0.8to see what condition the rifle isafter that death)

If they hadn't changed the chance to repair weapons and armor, this wouldn't be such a big deal. Annoying, and still bad, but not AS bad. With this, you'll have to pay weaponsmiths/armorsmiths money to fix your weapon.
