Thanks for the info, Wayne.
One suggestoin, you should add that Personal Shield Generators can also be sliced. Then add a note that, while you can get PSGs sliced, they fall under the same 50/50rule of getting an Encumbrance slice, which, of course, is absolutley useless for a PSG since their encumbrance is 0 already. So that means that there is a 50% chance that the slice will do nothing to improve the PSG at all, and as with everything thing else, the Smuggler has no control over which it will be. On the other hand, there is 50% chance that you can turn a mediocre PSG into something more useful.
Sotaudi... Hehe... I think you just added it for me!
Sotaudi is right on all counts... I forgot to put Personal Shield Generators in the list of sliceable items. They ARE considered armor and so have a 50% chance of either Encumberance slice (which does absolutely nothing to them) or an Effectiveness slice, which obviously improves their stats!
And thanks Warlock_The_Darkone... Appreciate the back-up!

Does slicing cause weapons to lose condition faster?
Since I am not a Smuggler, I will let Wayne field the questions in general, but regardless of how the slicing itself would affect armor and PSGs, by making the armor or PSG more effective, it is, by definition, absorbing more of the damage. So in that sense, yes, an effectiveness slice would cause the item to "decay" faster than a non-sliced (or an encumbrance sliced) piecesimply because the damage that would be going to you is going to your armor or PSG, chipping away at its condition.

Hey Wayne,
Good post. I havetwo questions regarding the mysterious slicing phenomena.
Does slicing cause weapons to lose condition faster?
Does slicing armor/psg's cause them to lose condition faster?
Thanks
