Thread: Test for Defense vs KD
Actually what the test showed was that Center of Being was fixed as per the patch notes. It works great for other brawler classes. However, defensive acuity is still broken.
Fencers and swordsmen were getting about 90% defensive reactions using COB, TK was getting 16% or so.
Also please note that alot of these cases of massives misses are against riflemen/TKAs. It is a great combination, as these results show, but the results for a normal rifleman will be less. (still pretty good, but not as good)
Please do not read any kind of reproach into this. I only want to make sure everyone understands what they are seeing, and to avoid any other classes who read the board from starting a call for a rifle nerf based on a double profession result.
(after all, we spend 198 skillpoints ONLY ON COMBAT skills, we should be good.)
{appologies for that, I could not resist.}

But I like the work you did. I wonder if there is another explanation? Since you were fighting melee, maybe the melee bonuses made you get hit so few times that there wasn't enough hits for it to be statistically significant? you did say 26 pages of logs... still, I don't understand why rifle (no knowckdown bonus) had a better knockdown defense then pike (uncertified, no knockdown bonus) I'm just guessing. I'm really interested in helping figure this all out, let me know if there's anything I can do to help (I'm trying to set up a few interested testers on Bria).
The linked post above also saw some indication that special effect is partially based on damage done, your data directly contradicts that, since w/ a rifle equipped in melee you get a damage multiplier, so you should have been knocked down more often.
We should get interested people to start a thread on a non-profession-specific board so we can all work together to figure this out - any ideas where?
questions questions...

I have talked to the pistoleer corespondent, I am pretty sure you are refering to his post.
What I found out was that KD does stack. I did not add the misses to the total attempts, only the attacks that landed, be it resisted or not. Othewise the atempts would have been 3-4 times more easy.
Damage does not have anything to do with with KD success. The special itself I believe has a pre-set chance to KD someone with no defense. Why you would have a better chance to knock someone down using KD 2, then KD 1.
As for the Pike, I just got sick of testing, I had been at it for almost 2 hours already, and was pretty sure I had proved that KD does stack and has nothing to do with the weapon in hand with the Rifle test. I am fairly sure that if I would have done that test longer that percentage would have been in the high 80's for resist.
Again, if you want we should have a single game-wide post regarding testing. Any ideas how to do this? Maybe Philosopher1979, the pistoleer corresponant, can help (he IS a correspondant... we could put it under a sticky in the pistols if we had to).
thanks again for your work
