Thread: Mind Bleed stacks
Here's how the bleeding xp is calculated (done lots of testing):
The bleeds give no xp whatsoever. When the creature finally dies, the game calculates all the damage done by what (and whose) weapons, and divides the creature's total xp out according to which weapons did how much damage.
So if you bleed it, then switch to pistol andland just one pistol shot for 1 damage, you will get the full xp for pistol, because the pistol did 100% of the damage. If you bleed it, then accidentally shoot it again with rifle for 1000, then switch to pistol and hit 5 shots for 100 each, you'll have done 1000 with rifle and 500 with pistol, so 1/3 xp goes to pistol and 2/3 goes to rifle. And then if some shmuck decides he's going to help you, so he starts shooting at the creature with you, you'll both divide the xp about evenly, even though the bleed was yours.
So if you're a smuggler and a rifleman, and want to get tons of unarmed xp for some crazy reason, here's what you can do: land 2 nasty bleeds on a crazy big animal, wait for it to aggro, prepare a feign death, whack it in the elbow for 50 damage, and then pretend to die. If it bleeds to death within 70m, you'll get all the xp for unarmed.
