nightsister hunting.... suuuuuuure.

This one would be amusing if it wasn't for the cloning in the end...

Some friends and I went Rancor hunting on Dath for fun and materials for camps and traps (You know people will buy this stuff, even though they can make it? Who knew?!). As we are gathering around the starport and looking for missions in the same direction (really devs, can we PLEASE pick the mobs we want?) a member of our new city brings along some friends of thiers that we were not familiar with and dubious hunting skills. Now I did not know the latter at first and they seemed ok but a bit "hyper" (mmm... maybe that should have been my first clue).

So we finally get most of the follks to pick missions in the same direction (10 PC's and 5 pets) and start off. 2 lairs later and we are looking at 1.5km North as the next closest and head that way, I was on point. I pick up the next mission and Nightsister Rangers (I know what you are thinking... we are getting there ) off to theNE of the lair out about 90m from the mission. Doable, if no one draws a NS and we all play our parts.

So we all gather before the next Rancor Bloodfest and I start to type "/g carefull, hi lvl NS off to the left, don't stray" and hit return. I am not looking at spatial or the 'dar as I do this but I didlook as I press the return button and see

"LOOOT! c'mon guys"

and a lone green dot goes right for them. For the record, it was none of the pros.

...and now you know the rest of the story.

One of the funniest incidents I have been involved in was with my business partner, Ecad, while we were still pretty new in the game ourselves. We ran into someone who had just started playing the game, so we were, at the time, veterans, so to speak (I may have been up to Rifles IV, I do not remember).

Anyway, Ecad and I were in the med center patching up a few minor injuries when we ran into him. He was complaining that he was bored, so we asked why, and he said he kept getting killed trying to do missions. So we invited him along with us so he could get some XP instead of dying.

We left the city (Dearic), and went toa ridge just across the river outside of town. We started shooting some things that are not worth the decay on my rifles now, but were conning white to us at the time. We were doing pretty well, killing most things in a couple of shots. But this was still boring for our new companion because we were killing things too quickly for his tastes. I guess that not dying thing became less important.

So while we were lining up for the next target, I saw our companion run down the hill towards a vynock. I said, "Uh, Ecad, he is going after that vynock." Ecad said, "Let him go," in the sense of "he has to learn sometime," not "who needs him." So we went ahead and took out the next creature. When we were done, we turned the direction he had run, and sure enough, the vynock was still there pretty much unscathed, but our companionwas laying on the ground next to it, incapped.

So we strolled down the hill, and when we got to him, Ecad stopped, looked down at him for a second. (I could almostswear I couldsee his toon put his hands on his hips, look down and shake his head.)As I hit himwith a Stim,Ecad said,"So [name withheld], what have we learned today?" To which he replied, "I am not attacking anything ever again no matter how big it is."

We cracked up.

Hehe, those are good.

I got careless on Dath the other day and got slayed by a nightsister and lost my buffs. I still wanted to hunt and saw a big group of people going out for enraged rancor missions. I signed up and told them I would heal (master medic) and hang back and autofire only using specials if they needed me to.

We get out to the first lair and all hell breaks loose. No one let the creatures tank, people dropping left and right, half the people got too close to a queen mite (spider looking things) and were all poisoned. So much for sitting back and using autofire. I had to pop a muon so I could finish off the 2 rancors solo and kill 4 mites. I then thought it would be a good idea to destroy the mite lair so they wouldn't come back and kill the rest of my party. The mites didn't take to me blowing up their house and sent 8 more out at me. I barely finished them off and the lair before my muon ran out, but I lived and the group was safe to go after the rancors without interference. After all this they called me an exp hog and asked me to leave . I said I was sorry and left the group. Luckily I still had my 2 enraged rancor missions left and probably got more money in those 2 missions than I would have got staying with group. I have a feeling they didn't last too long.

Hehe! It's these sort of incidents and stories that make me want to group hunt more

I think I've had several run in's with the Nightsister's over the course of my Rifleman Career. I think one in particular comes to mind...

Myself anda friend decide to visit some of the P.O.I's on Dathomir for kicks, so we all get suited up, pull out the speeders etc.. Just before we are about to leave my mate say's "Wait a minute, I need a buff" and I'm like, "Dude, we aren't going hunting!".. But I forgot that this is one of those guys thatget's buffed to shop on the Bazaar. A long argument about buffs ensues and to cut things short he stubbornly went off and got buffed and I point blank refused to.

We leave to check out the Sarlaac Pit, on the way I notice my traveling companion has donned his Comp Armor and has veered off towards a rapidly approching Red Blip on the Radar. A Nightsister Ranger ( from memory ), we pull up around 80m from it and I remember saying "Man are what are you doing?", he answers "Good loot" and before I can even hop off my speeder and pull out my T21 he'sburstrun in,fire DOT'd the Sista, the Sista's warped in to meand I'm flat on my back force choked. I get incapped but not DB'd, the Ranger now low on health because of my Comrades attacks starts to walk away, which I though was fairly unusual but I wasn't complaining..

My friend walks over to my incapped self and says "So Now who wants buffs eh?" and proceeds to gloat, laugh, prod and generally throw jibes in my direction completely ignoring the Ranger who "was" walking away from him but is now walking slowly towards him. I didn't say a word... He got incapped and DB'd about 2 seconds later, the Nighsister promptly died straight after Deathblowing him from the fire DOT, I came out of the incap, looted the corpse ( Which had something nice but can't for the life of me remember what ) and Laughed my @ss off

I was hunting with a fairly small pickup group last night. There were four of us and my pet. I grabbed piket missions as I knew in a pinch I could solo them. the first lair had a fierce piket protector, one femal and two normal pikets. I told the group I would pull and not to fire untill I told them two. They didn't like it but then they saw me skillfully (luckily?) pull one at a time and we made short work of the first two waves. I start hitting the lair to get the thrid wave and the rest fo the group joins in. I stop and say hold fire just as the next piket popps. I start to pull it and the whole grou pswitch fire to that one piket... as the other three spawn they all charge intothe fray. No this group is weak and I'm the only one with medic skills. I have my pet tank the one coming fo rme and put on my helmet and get ready for a beating as I try to flushing shot 2 the others to protect the group. I don't have amuon ready so thats not an option and I don't have the mind to spam so I for e aocuple and switch to auto fire and try to move over and heal the others who are getting incapped quickly. After abou tfive minutes I've nailed the four pikets and we've had two die. All I could do was shake me head.

On our way to the second piket mission a group of huurton spawned around us and half the group was killed before I knew what was happening. But myself and the only other in teh party smart enough towear armor survived.

The next piket lair was a blast. I told the group to fire on the pikets when I gave the command and hold on for the ride... They were all nervous about dieing again and I told them to relax as I ate muon...

I apologized to my pet and watched the group wet themselves in fear.

I sent my pet after the lair to draw argo and told the group to fire and started spamming flushing shot 2. I got 3k+ xp per piket for that lair an dn ne got hit at all. I did have to switch pets after the second wave as eight pikets hitting at once hurt my poor gurrek. Then we took the last wave. It was funny listening to one f the others say wow I didn't realize my health shot did so much damage... then I nicely burst his bubble and explained flushing shot 2... it rocked. Then I had to log and sleep. At least this group learned after the first lair to listen to the veterens. You die a lot less that way.

Yeah, I love the way things naturally pick on riflemen. A lot of times as a Master Rifleman, I will go along with guildmates who are grinding XP just to make sure they do not get killed. I will be in the group but off to the side where I can just observe what is about to happen so I canhelp if necessary, and inevitably at least a couple of times a nightas soon as the first shot is fired, the critter will ignore the person 2 feet away from them blazing away with their weapon and charge over to attack me even though I am not shooting anything.

There was a time once where I was with a group near a base on Dantwhen a voritor chared down the hill and attacked a group of about 5 or 6 people. I am at least 40m away, but I move back a little bit more and target the creature and start to shoot to help out the group. Sure enough, as soon as my first shot fires, it leaves the group of 6 people kicking the crap out of it and charges over and attacks me. I was not Master at the time, and it was before they removed the 2.5x melee modifier, so I am sure you know how that worked out. There must be something tasty about us riflemen, because the critters sure do like us.

I must have missed a class one day or something cause there is a new krayting technique that I've never tried until a few days ago.........I was going out to track for krayts solo and was asked to join a hunting party so I did. I'm all giddy cause there is 1 doc, and 1 commando, and 1 bh in this group. Add me the rifleman and I'm thinking yeah, we can take down a few big lizards with this group. I'm thinking ok, the doc will fall back and keep us healed while the commando and bh hit for crazy points and I'll do whatever I can to help keep the crit dizzy/down posture or anything that works. I close in on the krayt coords and see 1 group member attacking a giant canyon krayt.........SOLO! I'm hitting /groupchat "quick guys we need to get over here and give xxxx a hand in a hurry" Well, xxxx dies before I get there, no other group dots around so I sit back and wait to regroup. All of a sudden I see another groupie get within range on their speeder and head straight for the dragon, dismount and start attacking. I'm like ......."guys we need to organize and hit this thing together" I get no response in groupchat. And the whole night I kept watching in vain as the rest of the group members kept attacking the dragon 1 at a time.......dying then coming back and doing it again. Not 1 time did they ever attempt to coordinate their efforts. I eventually left the group out of frustration because I was wanting tissues too badly to waste my time with those clowns.

So I go back the next day and get asked to join another group, maybe 5 or 6 members of the group.........I head to the wp given by a few that spotted a dragon.........I go there to watch the same "tactics" again. This group wasn't bothering with teamwork either............I didn't stay long knowing full well what it was like the first time I witnessed the same thing the night before.

oh, and 1 funny note for that second night was when exiting a clone station there was a bh getting cloned that stood up and started ranting how he was working on dropping his 5th dragon for the night.......SOLO. I couldn't help but to laugh and shout "BS"...........didn't bother asking him if he'd grouped with a mineral harvester or a chemical harvestor to get the job done.

Lol this is why i became a squad leader, i can sit back and see the battle unfold and more often than not especially with pikets they will aggro me. The running joke is that i sit back and pet the pikets while they attack me and the group blasts away. Of course this only works well with armor.

Actually Jedichuck it's a little known fact that Commando's and Bounty Hunters can do it solo.. Why you say? How you say?

It's a prettycheap tactic and you saw it working.

Basically,

1. First Find a Krayt and make a Waypoint

2. Run in and burn it

3. Die

4. Clone

5. Hop on your speeder and head back out

Repeat steps 1 - 5 until it dies.

Cheap, and it's since been culled somewhat with the Bleed and Fire DOT nerfs.. the first time I saw it I had the same reaction as you.. I was like, What the hell is this guy doing? Then it dawned on me.. hehe
