Thread: **edit**? Rifleman is useless!
Message Edited by XaverriJade7 on 07-03-2004 04:02 PM
if you recall i was the one who replied to your other post
very calmly, and my first post was very calm and unflamed.
it just gets my goat when someone claims a lot of things
without actual proof.
and just by reading your title, it is enough to insult any
serious rifleman out there, as we hold our profession very dear.
how would you feel if someone was calling your livelihood
completely useless? and based on hearsay statements at that?
but all in all thats the purpose of this whole forum i
guess, it is to clarify any and all confusions/issues
about the rifleman profession.
P.s rifleman wouldn't have this badass reputation if it
were useless

Ok, I must be bugged to hell then. I just tried using /warningshot and /threatenshot with a T21, laser rifle, and laser carbine, and got the "not with this weapon" message every time. /aim works no problem. I've never tried /suppression. And when I have used /threaten or /warning before (with a pistol), it's only marginally successful, creatures like Banthas or Squills retreat maybe half the time, and then only 20m or so before reaggroing (whether I /peace or continue /warn, /threaten). I assume that's because a pistol is less "threatening" than a rifle? In any case, they don't work properly for me...
If this does not work for you with a rifle - you are correct - you are bugged. I would do a /bug in the game. I retried this today - these all work with any rifle i had. Anything in the ranged support line worked correctly. Also maybe this has been address in the marksmen forum - i would check that forum to see if anyone else has experience what you are experiencing.
as for warning and threaten shot... figure about 40% with threaten maybe 80% with warn for them to work... and drop that percentage the higher the level the creature.
if you have the room to do master marksmen do it... the speed increase really helps rifleman more then any other profession.
but you are doing ranger - so SEA's and speed and accuracy food can help you
Rifleman is all about Sex (Dancer buffs) Drugs (Foods/drinks/moun/Doc Buffs) and Rock and Roll(music buffs)
Only things we can't solo in game are several types of nightsisters who are totally immune to our damage types everything else falls eventually to us.
away for a lil while. >>
