Thread: Rifleman issues/thoughts/concerns for the upcoming Correspondent's Summit

"Rifles Fire Slower : A main point of contention for the Rifleman. We frequently see claims that rifles fire slower than other weapons. There is no basis for this claim. The speed at which someone fires a weapon is not a mechanical limit on the weapon. It represents aim time. Rifles, pistols, and carbines all use the same technology in regards to the weapon. Which means they would all have about the same recycle rate. At Master, all professions should hit the speed cap with most if not all their specials. That is what Master means. Someone that is absolutely at the pinacle with their chosen weapon."
So whats the porpose of this?
Have all 3 proffesions fire at the same exact rate? Then in that case, they should all have equaly powerfull weapons since you put "mechanics" into the argument.
No. Just because weapons fire at the same rate doesn't mean they have the same power behind it. There are other factors when talking about balance as Kezia mentions and which I also mentioned.
DPS is not suppose to be the same for everyone. Because it's not the only factor in 'balancing' the professions.
However I do think a Master of a profession should be about speed capped on all their specials. Reason being they are a Master and the speed represents aim time with the 1shot/sec the mechanical limit. A Master has honed their skill to the point they really don't even aim. They use a snap fire technique perfected from long experience.
- Scopes/Stocks : Adding scopes and stocks to weapons does not show up graphically if the weapon is a factory run. It will show up on a hand crafted one however it does not if you equip the weapon. It would be great if they showed up even in factory runs and when equipped.
- Bowcaster : Since it's classified as a Rifle. Right now it's pretty much a worthless weapon. As soon as you get Rifles II and the ability to use the Laser Rifle it becomes outdated. Something that shouldn't happen based on it's description. On a sad side note. My server actually had T21's long before we had the ingredients for Bowcasters. And we weren't one of the first to get T21's either. Suggestion : Add an Advanced Bowcaster or Hunting Bowcaster to the Rifleman tree. Give it the same stats as the T21 so that non-Wookiees wouldn't feel cheated since the only difference would be the graphics. Giving it these stats would also makethis version auseful alternative for the Wookiee Rifleman without making a weapon that is more powerful than other rifles for the non-Wook. At least you would see Wookiees with Bowcasters for a change.

BTW - Glad to see some Mod or Dev stickied this thread.

I really like the bowcaster idea. No Wooie would ue any other rifle if his bowcaster was available. It's more than a weapon to the Wookie race, it's a cultural icon. Good point also on the appearence of the weapons.

Being a rifleman that wasnt FOTM its hard to admit that you're the most overpowered class in the game, but for one second think about the other people who enjoy doing other things. PVE and pvp are both dominated by the rifle class and it is even mroe apparent now with the CM nerf. Heavy ap weapons that fire at the speed of carbines/pistols and that target the only non healable pool in the game, clearly you can see this? Light ap stun rifles that only have 40% resists to in most armor (although psg's have toned jawas down a little). Rifleman should be terrible while moving at all, and should have to be at least 30m to score a successful and damaging hit. I don't have the answers or any ideas because Im not sure they'd be listened to, I'm just trying to make sense of why riflemen think they shouldnt be nerfed? I mean come on, think about the future of the game and get over yourselves.
Because the nerfing 'cries' are based on the symptoms of the current Problem, how armor and buffs work

Combines and Pistols are getting new guns in pub 10. will rifleman be getting any extra weapons added??
with the mind pool now becoming easier to heal does that mean we will do more damage to it, to compensate for the healing?
other than those 2 questions I cant really say anything that has'nt already been said by everyone else
Riflemen really don't need any other weapons right now. There are some professions that have very few weapons and they should get some attention before they need to add any to us. Especially the melee classes. We currently have 14 weapons. So we have the fourth most. Commando has the most but then again most of those are pretty worthless or broken. Pistoleers have one more weapon than us. Carbineer has four fewer.
So we can do without for a bit while the others are brought up to speed.
This part just really upset me- We are thinking about the future of the game. Our profession is a part of that too though. We do want the other professions fixed, but that means not nerfing ourselves to achieve some false sense of 'balance'. I don't even want to have to tell you to take your own advice, but that attitude of yours has got to go.
