To answer your question, IMO MCM/MR = Offense; TKM or Fencer/MRis morebalanced in defenses.
Basically it comes down to helping to negate the low defenses or Rifleman with a high-def profession, or picking upsome major DoTage from CM.
Kinda like stacking offense (with MCM/MR) or defense (MR/TKM or Fencer).
I saw someone with a sig about combat medics -- it said something like: 'CMs are like nukes: you keep them around just in case, but when you start using yours, the other guy starts using his, and then everything just goes to hell.' Lol, that pretty much sums it up in my experience. ![]()
With CM I flop like a fish if I get Dizzy/KDed. But it only takes one area poison to screw everyone over.
Another benifit is group-support in PvE, which is a lot of fun.
On the other hand, stacking defenses with Fencer or TKM would give more survivability in close-range fights. Anotherplus is being able to use another type of damage.
CM is nasty in PvP, but I mostly do PvE anymore -- /mindheal and area-stims rock, and stacking poisons against high-end mobs isactually useful. Nothing really shines like thatin groups with Rifle/TKM or Fencer.
Put everything into offense with CM and gain some group-support abilities, or balance boost up defenses and get some kinetic action going. Up to you.
Edit: As for TKM or MFencer -- I would go Fencer for pvp, TKM for pve. Fencers don't have great damage, and against some mobs (certain NS) TKM would be better. However, Rifles outdamages both in pvp so that's what you'll want to use, and sincethe defenses are way better for Fencer anyway, you'll stay alive longer. I wouldn't let the TKM knockdown to be the deciding factor here.
