Thread: TKM or MFencer

My template so far will be MRifle/Medic 0040/Pistoleer 0040
My dilemma is whether i should take MFencer or TKM any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

depends on what you want to do. i'd say right now, fencer is better for pvp since tka's can't deal lots of damage in pvp against 85% kinetic resistances armor. however a fencer with a good acklay weapon deals a lot more damage. basically if youre going to have a pve template go for tka, since they can tank better and stuff. for pvp i'd say fencer. btw tka punches hurt the jedi really bad! (ask your local jedi

If your into stacking states go for TKM, if your into dizzing kding the hell out of people go fencer

I personally enjoyed master rifleman and master fencer together as it helped keep me on my feet longer while doing my attacks in group pvp, in fact I never used fencer after I mastered it.

I've just taken up pistol 0040 and master fencer. Gives me 125+ ranged and 116 melee defense, level 3 ranged and melee mitigation, +100 v knockdown, +90 v dizzy, +90 v blind and some other stuff. The tkm combo doesn't give as much protection.
I figure fencer doesn't really do that much damage, but I only use it for protectors and spellweavers. Defense bonus is the main advantage of fencer for me.

master fencer has better defense specials and would be best in pvp, but TKM is more fun and is really good in pve

I have also heard that MCM and Mrifle is a good combination. How would that template compare to the TKM or Mfencer template

you can't go wrong with either one.
i'm mrifle/mfencer/trickshot/medic
if you see me dizzy/kd'd - take a picture 'cause it's like an eclipse. comes around once every couple years, lasts an instant, and it's over. hahaha
state defenses are insane with this template, as well as melee and ranged defense. you get the stun baton, but everyone wears stun armor and the stun baton is AP0 - so you don't do much dmg anyways. you also don' thave a dedicated mind attack.
your toughness is 32 - TKM toughness is about 53. they win in toughness, by far.
so, you're limited to awesome defense, but terrible offense in pvp. you have no AP1 dmg, and can only do kinetic and stun.
TKM's get AP1 (knucklers) awesome kinetic dmg (though it won't do much against 80% kinetic until a target is KD'd) you get more toughness, more accuracy, mind dmg specials, you can apply all states (fencers can't apply 'stunned'), you can dizzy/KD.
drawbacks, less state defenses and only AP1 kinetic.
you can't really go wrong with either one, but i'd say TKM is a little more damaging right now. in a duel, with two equally equipped rifleman/fencer vs rifleman/TKM using melee only - the TKM will win because neither will miss, the TKM can do mind dmg, and the TKM has more toughness, meaninghe'll take less damage.
TKM also gets powerboost and can meditate off the poison/diseases.
if i wasn't already a fencer, i'd go tkm. as it is, i'm too lazy to grind another profession and Fencer is fun enough that i'm fine with my slight disability.

If you plan to use rifles mainly for pvp, get master fencer. The defense are vastly superior than those of a TKM. If you want to mix it up during pvp, get TKM.
I would go rifles/Fencer myself, just because then I can stick with the Rifles and not have to switch back and forth.
