It's junk and not worth getting, but if you want to....

First, Victor(I think) has to be in office in Bestine. Then he will send you to kill the Tusken Executioner. By going to Ft. Tusken and killing lots and lots of them, you can get one to pop up. He's very very nasty, but if you kill him, you will loot his 'head'. Give it to Victor for the rifle. Oh yay.

Oh Christ, this isn't about fun, it's about people wanting to solo everything in the game.

Sony gave us the option of fixing it by giving us 250 skill points to play with. If you can't figure it out with that, find another game.

Oh, really? You mean like today, when I was with buddies on Dathomir and stood there with my thumb up because the NIQ (Nightsisters in question) were resistant to every rifle I had available? Yeah, its about soloing all right...

sorry I tend to disagree with you on that situation - everyone is useful even if they do no damage to the NIQ as you put it. I have novice medic... I can throw a heal on a member that just got slammed... as a SL I was able to help just by existing. Hell pretty much the only people who can't (currently) help are crafters and after the revamp thatcould change. If you have master marksmen (as many of us do... ) pull out the old striker pistol. So many things you can do... draw aggro and have some tough sister chase you for a bit to lighten the load on the poor meleer... so many things to do! standing there is pointless! you can always do something!

I think there are really two seperate reasons for this.

First, because they don't want any combat profession to have access to more than a few damage types, so that there will always be *something* that they can't damage. 100% immunity to 100% of a combat profession's weapons is just ludicrous and should be changed, because it completely nullifies the entire profession.

Second, for the same reason that no melee profession can do energy damage. Apparently they want to keep ranged combat professions distinctly seperate from melee combat professions; kinetic damage is only available to melee professions (with the *only* acception being the Striker pistol, and it's apoor weapon to start with), and energy damage is only available to ranged professions. Again, this is completely artificial, and it makes absolutely no sense in almost every case.

The biggest problem I have, though, is that melee professions get 80% of all the defenses, while ranged professions just get screwed. Every melee professions has a "Melee Toughness" rating that acts as an extra layer of armor, drastically reducing the damage they take in melee combat... but not one ranged profession gets anything even remotely as powerful for defense. So, since obviously ranged professions are not meant to have any worthwhiledamage reductionat all, logic dictates that they *should* have more offensive potential to compensate, right? Nope, too bad, none of that here... your Tusken Rifle will ALWAYS do the *wrong* type of damage, because they don't want you to be able to put a scratch on everything in the game. Again, this completely removes a combat profession from certain parts of the game.

This is about Rifleman, not Medic, not Squad Leader, not Artisan, etc.. If you are a Rifleman, your sole purpose is offense. As a Rifleman, you have extremely poor defense and precious few state-change attacks; your only purpose is to inflict damage from range. When the only thing your combat profession isgood at is completelyremoved from your list of combat options, something is wrong and needs to be changed. You should not have to pick up a completely different profession to give you something to dobecause your chosen profession is absolutely worthless in a situation where it should *not* be worthless. This goes back to "What role should your profession play?", and when it comes to Rifleman, that role is pure offensive output and little else.

again I would disagree, after all we have 250 points - if you don't have any abilities beyond rifleman you need to learn more things. Our Pc's are not single dimensional beings - they have multiple skills and even if we can't do something as one profession we have access to others that can do it... with your arguement you say that not being able to do something makes on profession less enjoyable then another... lets see this

Because I am a rifleman CMI can not make houses, does that mean that because i can't do something I enjoy make my rifleman experience any less worthy? No it does not. It just means I made a choice not to be able to make houses.

Please correct me if I am wrong but there is a Tusken Executioner right around the Squill Caves. Would this suffice for the head or would it have to be one from the T-Fort?

What, pray tell, is a Ranger to do then? only a single combat class can be mastered... or we can REALLY gimp ourselfs and split all the skillpoints across all the novice boxes. Ya, that's a plan.

Sorry, I'm with the guywith the thumb up... splitting up damage types like this does NOTHING for balance and is a continuity breaker. I'm not about to "lighten the load" for the melee guy that is supposed to be the tank and make me the tank (which I'm quite ill equiped for). This is promoting soloing. It's just that you are soloing different things. No, I firmly believe that they have not thought this through and went "balance happy" in this one. All ranged professions should have a wide range of damage types available. It's the melee proffs they messed up, they need to make vibro blades something other then kenetic... energy or perhaps heat? The should all have at least one AP weapon. There are other variables that they can use for balance without making someone in the group totally useless in some situations they should not be.

The 158 skills points you have left after Rifleman are the answer to your problem.

Unless the majority of those158 skill points are devoted to one of the many non-combat professions (artisan, medic, ranger, squad leader, entertainer, and politician). In which case you're still screwed and you're nothing but dead weight in a group (e.g. when hunting mobs like Nightsisters).

No animal or NPC should be immune to every damage type that a profession has available to it... 90% resists are fine, but they should never be any higher. SOE can fix this by either (1) giving every profession a weapon of each damage type, or (2) overhauling NPC resists. Option #1 would be easier for the programmers and more fun for the community since we'd get to play with lots of different weapons and crafters would have more items to make.

Did I say anything about wanting to solo everything? No I didn't. Like a moron, you just assumed that. Do yourself a favor and work on your **edit**ty little pre-teenattitude too.

I actuallythink that the current high end game is far too easy. Hopefully, the CB will fix that. However, making many high end mobs completely immune to every damage type a professional can use is just ridiculous. Not everyone has the extra SPs to spend on another elite combat profession. Some of us actually do things like crafting to support the server's economy... andit shouldn't be a requirement to open a 2ndaccount just to craft andhunt on the same server.Think about that the next time you buy your uber armor or weapons. It's professions like those that feel like dead weight on many high end hunts.

And please spare me the suggestion of getting Novice Medic,etc.. You know that's a load of crap. What happens when the uber lance of infinite mind fire drops that sells for 10 million credits? Do you think you really deserve a shot at that loot just because you stood around doing something that any novice can do? Or should the TKM who just ruined a set of 500K armor get it?

Even without cert it has some use. I carry one on NS hunts. When the TK's get the NS down to 1% and she starts walking and warping away i pull out the tusken king rifle and strafeshot2 for around 150 points of damage. Sure beats running all over Dath trying not to lose your loot.
