Riflemen can attack the mind pool, which isn't healable... in PvP this is our "precious".

No other profession can beat that right now.

How long have you been playing SWG? Ever see BH use EyeShot? Not only does it do more mind damage than headshot, it is also faster and causes blindness. Oh yeah, it also drains thge BH's action pool instead of their mindpool.

I'm not trying to start an argument or flaming war. But I'd like to point out "right now". One of the developers wassaying (and I'll try and find it) that they are currently working on a way for mind healing. The only thing they had to decide was how. A special camp, special soundpacks, etc... It might not be our precious much longer.

There it is. Maybe it still will be precious, maybe not.

So our precious, well not really precious, the only benefit we get over say eyeshot is that we get to lose our own mind pool to hurt others, mind damage may be nerfed too. Did some exec at SOE have a bad experience with a guy with a rifle (deliverance-style) sometime and they now want to punish any who would wield such a weapon. additionally, we have a sniper title, to those who would complain that we want to be snipers and say this was never the intention

I was going to respond to lobos sad little post, but then I hit novice BH lastnight and said "f**k it, I really dont give a rats a**". See you all again when the sniper tree actually produces snipers.....maybe.

Lol! I guess I was going for the two worse professions in the game! Pikeman and Rifleman. I sure do have a way of picking them. I was only going to do rifleman for the added +block skill mod but since becoming a novice pikeman my block doesn't seem to work (nor has it for other pikeman even at master) so I decided to drop my rifleman skills since I didn't use my rifle much anyways. If I didn't like polearms than my pikeman skills would be dropped just as fast.

I remember a time way back when like... 2 weeks ago when tons of people were screaming nerf bounty hunter, so sony gave them a weapon that 1 shot kills. Yeah... I foresee bounty hunters getting nerfed...

I am a 4-1-4-3 rifleman.

I am not going to talk about our penalties, everyone knows them. I do want to point out a strength i am finding in the higher levels of our profession. I got most of my exp solo, but have started to group latelya nd am geting exp on par or above most of the party.

What a rifleman does have is flexibility. There are basically 4 ways to fight as a rifleman. Mind attack, conceal shot, general attack and machine gunner.

Mind attack: the one most of us are familliar with, and the reason most of us became riflemen. Great to solo, not effective in group exp. Good in PvP but hard to do well. This is the sniper mode of hunting.

Conceal Shot: If fixed a good solo method. I actually find it more useful in groups. (keep the aggro off me, does general damage so stacks with either pistol or carbine.)

General Attack: Flurry1 shot, Flushing1 Shot, Surprise shot and strafe1 shot. All hit random pools, and do comparable damage to headshot 2-3 at a lower HAM cost (smaller modifier). Using these in a group gives better exp results than mind attacks. Even in small groups this works. Coordinating with others also make you more effective. coordinate a flurry shot with a KD or posture change from another group member. Flushing shot actually is useful fighting npc humanoids.

Machine Gunner: This is the mode I believe generates the wait till you are a master comments. Ignore the special effects of the shots (except flurry2, dizzy is very powerful in the right situation) All 3 of these attacks have a very high damage mod, mind cost in line with MS2 and hit everything in the cone. In the right situation you are hitting 3-4 creatures for 1500 to 3000+ with each shot. Also note that the title for master counter-sniper is Gunner. (based on flushing2 and flurry2)

Lets not argue and give away the very attacks that make us versitile. I love being able to adapt to each combat. Do we have major problems? You bet! Do we suck? No we do not. Rifleman is not EXACTLY the sniper most of us envisioned. I doubt they can change the game to make us one. (or will change the game)

I agree witht he orginal post, I can SOLO ANYTHING as long as its a ONE on ONE fight. If you use good tactics, you can too, no offence but I swear when I see people hunt they have no TACTICS! Hmm I'm gunna shoot a lair or BASE with out clearing the Defence? Ya good thinking....... I'll stand there and shoot, rather than being and 60m away being prone, cause ya know they must not want to get off at least 3 free shots? This goes for riflemen too..... I see them with some pretty piss poor tactics...... Sure I still miss 1/2 the time when Ifire but you dont sit there and spam with specials all the time.

You want to talk about picking 2 bad perfessions. Im a rifle man/ master architect. Rifleman is tough and im sadly dissapointed with my t21, Architect is so oversaturated with architects and no building decay i cant sell anything for 3per rescource.
