You have done this, or are you speculating?
Might it be because you are killing something with a weapon you're not certified with? Like, If I were to runout and buy a flamethrower, do enough damage to something to kill it, would I get hundreds of heavy weapons experience because it would con so high to me, or would I get next to nothing because I don't have a cert for it?
I just tried this out with a glop grenade I picked up from somewhere, which I am not certified withand vs a dwarf nuna, I got 42 + 4 combat xp, so it does still work.
Also, I picked up a Beam Rifle, because I was curious, did a health bleed on a Kreetle and auto attacked with the Beam Rifle, and got rifle experience. The Kreetle even conned green to me.
I don't know.

Wrong. The XP you gain is based on comparing levels between you and the creature. The higher your level over the creature the more XP you gain. You also gain more if grouped.
Combat XP is 10% of the weapon XP gained. HOWEVER, using a grenade gives you Combat XP as the Weapon XP. So you'll be able to double dip. You'll get the full XP for the MOB as Combat and another 10% as the secondary combat XP.
The amount of XP gained is based off of the percent damage done to the MOB by the weapon. So if you doo 500 damage to a MOB by rifle and another 500 by pistol on something that gives 2k XP. You would get 1k Rifle, 1k Pistol, and 200 Combat XP.
Bleeds don't count as damage for this calculation. So hit the creature with MS1 and MS2. Then toss the grenade and let it do damage. It doesn't matter if you have a cert or not. As long as you ONLY do the non-bleed damage with the grenade you will get all the XP as combat. So using the above example you would get 2k Combat XP plus another 200 XP if you did it with grenades.
Hope this clears up your confusion.

Wrong. (Sorry, just wanted to say that
)I think you've got this backwards.
When I kill a creature that is lower level than me (blue, green), I get far less xp than when I killed it when it was a Yellow or a red con.
Otherwise, If I were a master Rifleman, head shotting a Dwarf Nuna which would be more than 20 levels below me would grant the most experience. Not that I would need it at master, but whatever.

Pikets don't DB so don't worry about getting incapped. As long as you are in the 80m range when the Piket goes down you'll still get the XP even if you are incapped.
Oh yeah, that was my favorite tactic for grinding the xp away...man did it work or torturs ![]()
But I think they BAF now, at least from what I'm told. ![]()
Now I have feign death though, so I don't have to get incapped anymore....it's so much better because you can heal while you are pretending to be dead, reducing down time ![]()
