Thread: So what are they nerfing rifleman on?

There is only one plus to the nerf. We'll be incredibly rare again. People will laugh at us behind our backs due to our giant gun, the only sad thing is that a lot of the good 'ol riflemen will be gone because this is just about the breaking point for that poor camel's back. I'm going to stick with this prof until I cancel my account however that won't be until the SE ruins my dreams. If it is everything I hope it is going to be then I'll stick around. Otherwise I'm going to put my baby T-21on a wall (next to myfirst)and leave the game.


Oh and psycho, thanks for putting me in your sig You should make a webpage that entails the secrets of the riflenomicon just for kicks.

Cmon you guys, we all found ways to make rifleman a playable profession and helped eachother out before. With the new patch we may not be as good as now, but the diehard riflemen will make it work. Besides, when they make the changes and we go back to only having around 100 masters total they will realize their mistakes and help us out again.



Won't it be nice to have our forums back and get rid of all these trolls?

i cant see how a speed cap 1/2/3 p/c/r could work. a pistoller could spam special shots 3 times more than us. + if we miss we have to wait ages for another shot.



pistol 80% chance to hit 200 damage.(1 shot per second)in 6 seconds = 960



rifle80% chance to hit 600 damage. (1 shot per 3 seconds) in 6 seconds = 960


same damage potential.

The same rumours also say that specials deplete a non healable but quick regenerating HAM so I doubt a pistoleer will be able to spam at the speed cap (or there's no reason to bring it in).

Of course if this is true no one will be able to spam at speed cap so people will have to target the same person, use complimentary specials etc in PvP.

People have come this far so may as well stop the nerf/antinerf posts (except for Combat Medic of course) and see what happens, when it finally does.


I just hope they realise the gradual nerf that hits some professions and not others is completelty the wrong way and it isn't used when they rebalance the rebalance...

But back to the topic. That all sounds bad for the rifelman profession but if its truly balanced with the changes in the other proffession i dont care. My fear is we will get a half finshed system with a total broken rifelman proffession. The changes SOE made in the past were always extreme. They made rifelman from nothing to FOTM, mind buffs from moun to stacked food/drink/dancer/musician buffs, BH form FOTM to ...well poor BH, Commando flamer from deadly to "hahaha look i am on fire".


So i expect to get nerfed to from FOTM to a proffesion eery pistoleer will laugh about. And it will take them a leat 2-3 moth to fix that again.


But hey, i got 250 skill points i have other proffs. Maybe the will be worth playing.

There are under 50 dedicated Master Squad Leaders. Shure, our forum is peacefull and pleasent, but we haven't been fixed in... how many months since beta started?

I plan on making my alt a squad leader, the only thing is I don't play him that often...well ever,so it will never really happen.

1 profession isn't going to totally own any others hopefully, though of course getting the right combination will the key (as well as teamwork and strategy).



I would expect Rifle and Pistol to be similar in DPS just at different firing rates, maybe with rifle having a bit more accuracy to offset slower specials but also higher HAM costs to reflect this.


But then I expect quite a few things...

I am sorry but firing slowly should equal much higher accuracy because that is the balance to the slower spd. Let do some math


Pistol Avg dmg is 100-1 sec

Rifle avg dmg 300-3 sec


OVer 12 sec the dmg stacks like this


Pistol= 1200

Rifle= 1200


Now what happens if the both miss one shot


Pistol= 1100

Rifle=900


My question is why in gods name should we pay a cost for accuracy when we have to have it in order to even hope to get the same DPS as a pistol.


It is a pistol who should suffer the ham due to firing as fast as they do.


On a side note, I have been playing rifle since launch(well not really since it took me a month to qualify). The crap we had to deal with back then was almost unbearable and made Master a highly respected title. Now with all the nerfs and the little bit of love we recieved(it wasnt that much) we are considered overpowered. I have yet to see any and I mean any "balance" proposal that would not utterly kill us in PVP.


I also strongly hate the idea of the Devs "balancing" while the majority of the proffessions are broke atm. IF we get nerfed as hard as I fear then I will quit.


I will march into Anchorhead overt brandishing my T21 and fight till my death, and this death will be permanent..........


After all it is the only way I would ever go down.

am not to worried about the damage per second... am more worried about a pistoleer/smuggler or some such who can spam three specials stat affects in the time we can do one stat affect.


is bad enough with TKM doing dizzy knockdown ... imagine everyone being faster and more able to pin a state effect on you.


(50% resist still means that in 2 shots (withone left over) they can pin the state affect one you. were as rifleman would have 1 shot in that 3 to pin a state affect )

at 50% chance of it sticking...


then having 6 shots that do stat effects (at 50% 3 of them sticking) in the time it takes for 1 state affect for a rifleman to stick



dps is nothing in this game... you win with special effects (though dps + special = win)





---------------------------------one thing--------------------------------

if on the other hand they did not nerf our damage (upped it even) and put a hard cap of 3 secs per special on all weapons (so the chance of a special was the same) then it would be more fair if we were forced to a 3 sec cap(OMG did i just say that)

if all special attacks took the 3 secs rifleman does then the state effects would have the same chance of affecting all classes

another thing this would turn our class again into a dabbler class.. without the speed increase at master why master? especially if they nerf SS2 at the same time.
