Thread: We Need A Root

we don't need root, lack of control shots is our class defining weakness... what we need is our class defining strength implemented. (massive damage from long range) i don't want to be a jack of all trades, i want to be a glass cannon, not the glass slingshot that currently defines rifleman. =/
Rifleman
Primary Role: Long Range Damage Specialist
Secondary Role: Long Range Crowd Control (Position Control)
Offense: Very Strong(5)
Defense: Minimal(1)
Crowd Control: Moderate(3)
The Rifleman is an expert at long distance damage. Riflemen have a few support abilities to help them in this role including abilities to conceal themselves and keep opponents at a distance for a short while. Once an opponent has closed the distance however the Rifleman is extremely vulnerable.
The role of the Rifleman is that they are the embodiment of long range damage dealing. They should have abilities that allow them to maneuver at the edges of combat setting up devastating long range attacks and shots from hiding. Other ranged profession abilities such as Carbineer or Pistoleer could be used to expand and enhance a Rifleman's ranged combat options or melee profession skills like Teras Kasi may be desired to allow the Rifleman to better deal with opponents who would eventually close with them.
Though currently our Offensive power is probably a 4 due to the snipershot range nerf and the long wind up time and our crowd control is about 1 or 2 since the startleshot changes (the timer is stillto long onanger >_< ) and the lack of effectiveness of kneecap shot.

no, our current offensive power is about a 2, when compared to melee and jedi, our crowd control isn't too bad, startle shot is nice, if anything i'd argue we get a KD added to snipershot or somthing, but i'm much more worried about getting our offensive power from a 2 to a 5, than getting our crowd control for a 2 to a 3.

Sounds like pre-cu TK
z0mG!!1! TK n33D$ a $tUn BaT0N!!!!!!
(omg TK needs a stun baton)
Back then that would have been pretty bad, and it was a bad idea.
Rifleman Combo Move
Knee-cap shot (rifleman) is quite useful too if you want to slow down your opponent. They can't run for a few seconds which gives you the time to move out of their range and stay within rifle range (over 50m should do the trick). Combined with root this is very effective.

So you complain about not having root when the rifleman proffession has some of the most powerful weapons in the game. Not including some of the best abilities in the game (cover up/ cover shot/ sniper shot). Not to mention being able to wear the best armor to fight jedi in.
Sheesh there is no pleasing some people.

Alt is a bh/rifleman. Seriously, rifleman has some of the best weapons out there. Also everyone who had pre CU laser rifles found that they became good overnight. My own was mediocre at best pre CU now its over 1k damage. No smuggler slice on it.
Yes riflemen are not the only ones that can wear recon armor. But recon armor does have the best energy resistance specially compared to the armor that bhs get.
Like you even said before Ackehece. Rifleman is the ranged damage dealer so they are not that great at crowd control. Giving a rifleman a root would only make the rifleman profession unbalanced.

We are described as crowd control as well. Just not to the level of a carbineer or a pistoleer (check the 3 rating in crowd control). I don't thinkrifleman need a root but we do need our crowd control abilities upgraded to match our rating.
