Thread: At 64 meters I don't even need to aim...

Best and only way to fix this is to increase rng on a rifle. This is likely to not happen for the coding issues that make all weapons 64m and most spawns occur at about that distance too. Someone on the discussion board posted that there may be an issue with the lag and spec requirements on the client side for the server to puch this much info to it.

Anyway, the issue is that at 64m the rifle is ineffective, especially with the x2.5 multiplier on melee dmg. I can get maybe 2 shots off b4 I get aggroed and the target can close that distance easily within 3 sec, thus forcing me to take x2.5 dmg for melee, or switch to pistol or melee myself. Then I get very little rifle xp that I need to advance, so it makes rifleman overly difficult to advance in and I end up getting more pistoleer xp, so why shouldn't I choose that route?

IRL, with a rifle,I have problems with the 50m and 150m targets, but can hit the 500m every time, center mass (in heavy rain in a rubber suit!). Not sure why this is, but it just is. 32/40 for me because they make you take more shots on the closer targets than the longer range ones.

Does anyone else wish they had one of those stress relief balls but in the likeness of Raph Koster? I would have bought the collectors edition for that.

Where does it say Rifleman use semi-auto or Auto rifles? How long would it take to fire, relaod and aim a bolt action? Just a twist on your RL analogy.

The standard for the highly trained Brittish soldier during the revolutionary war was 3 shots per minute. For a muzzle loader. A bolt action rifle is significantly quicker with a 2 second firing delay (again on a highly trained firer)

I myself had experience with the muzzle loaders as an adolescent (actually wasn't to long ago only 20 years so no old man jokes). this quite a feat to fire this quickly. Never got close myself.

og course most people still have experiece with bolt action. They are still generally more accurate than semiauto rifles.

Yeah chalk this up with the complaint of "how exactly are you going to say that a pistol has a higher ROF than a full auto carbine"

When was the last time you shot your M9 faster than a M4 or MP5?

Its just in game lameness... it won't change... if you want to win, go BH or commando, the only 2 classes in the game that can hang, everyone else is just broke ass cannonfodder.

I don't think were that broken yet. I was out at the Krayt graveyard for 1 1/2 hours with a 10 person group. We fought everything we found and i ended up with 75k worth of experience. Of course we all got our asses handed to us when the Krayt made it's appearance.

it DB'd me before others so i don't know what happened after that. i think it singled me out becuase I placed a substantial Mind bleed on it. I don't know if this is true or just speculation but it went past several other incapped players to DB me first.

Anyone know if this is the case?

I think there are only two explanations for the combat and character situation in SWG. Either SOE is actively trying to depart from the accepted and logical stardards of warfare (meaning unit/soilder definitions androles), weapon types, armor, etc) as to make this game different from say WWII online or the like....OR..they did no research whatsoever and have no idea what they doing. Currently most things defy all logic..

A man with a M-16 wearing full camo, prone and under cover -VS- a man with a Colt Python standing up on top of a bare hilltop 64 meters apart....... is there any question who would win?

But in a world where pigs fly (Robas warping =), I guess this makes sense.

I might bye the whole changing the rules/laws of combat for the sake of defining a new style if that's what they were doing. I don't think it is, I mean it might be, but wouldn't it be nice if they told us.

Oh well

As said before, also shooting 37/40 with a M16, i think that this too is borked.

Just agreeing, not much more to be added from the main post and other replies.
