Let me explain. I've been a master rifleman for quite a while now and I'm just now getting involved in more PVP. Last night I participated in a fairly large scale Imperial invasion on some Rebel bases. I was on the rebel side...btw we did defend the bases...but I'd like to discuss the tactics of the Imperials. Now first off let me just say I'm not complaining about their tactics. They use their professions well and have very good tactics. The run in a CM under coverfire from about 4 or 5 rifleman and the CM drops an area disease and area poison. Then the Rifleman begin to spam their head shots. Great tactic as far as I'm concerned. The problem is this...the rifleman are standing or running around landing these headshots. There is no possible way a Sniper in RL with a rifle in hand can run and shot at someone and actually hit them in the head. I'm sorry that's not just possible. Now if they were all prone or kneeling it would be a different story. I know we're not dealing with real life here but let's do something so we can promote other professions in PVP.
Accurracy while standing or while running should be greatly reduced on the rifleman when using master headshot. They should only be able to hit maybe 1 of 10 times. Not 9 of 10 times. PVP does not involve melee professions, pistoleers or carbineers. It's Rifleman, Doctors, and Combat Medics. Dev's please do something so that when we do PVP it canbe fair forall professions.
I fail to see how this is a Headshot3 problem. I was also in a similar battle last night. We were defending our base against attack. They had two CMs and a Rifleman, among others. I was the only rifleman on our side, and we had no CMs. I killed the other rifleman at least twice, but then my partner, a M. Smuggler/M. Pistoleer/TKM, also killed him, as did at least one of our Commandos. However, what incapped or killed us more than anything was the two CMs throwning mind poisons and disease, getting one hit and taking entire groups of people out of battle. Because of them, I sat out of the battle more than I participated, waiting for the poison to subside. We even had a Doc with us who spent a lot of her time trying to get rid of her own mind poison.
No. The problem you had last night was not Headshot3. As long as their attacks take now damage reduction in PvP, and no DoT reduction like every other professions' DoT attacks do, CMs are going to be the deciding factor of any battle. I do not want to see them nerfed. But there is no valid reason not applying the same rules to their profession as every other profession has to live with. And until their damage is adjusted for PvP, CMs are going to be the deciding factor in every battle.
Headshot3 had nothing to do with your problems.

WAIT UNTIL THE COMBAT REVAMPS....
Next publish the mindbar will be healable... there goes all the FOTM rifflemen. Fights should be a bit more varied after the exodus. But get ready for the next influx of TKM/M.Doc... Even the BH eyeshot spamers will prolly disperse... Mind damage wont be as important any more with the new HAM system....OUch we swordsmen are getting the worst of it... that was our ONLY saving grace left...
WARNING: SILLINESS AND NO CONTRIBUTION TO THIS THREADTO FOLLOW...
We need to record this exodus in the Riflenomicon

i did read your post. the problem isnt headshot3.
it just sounds to me like they were organized and each class playing their role with the other classes covering their weakness. if you lost some pistoleers(or whatever class i pick them cuz they whine the most) who were trying to duke it out with rifle users at 64 meters the problem is NOT with rifles nor the rifle specials.
layering the attack sounds like a valid method to me. rifle in the back carbineers in the middle pistol up front and medics and commandos making harrassing attacks under cover of the rifles. sounds like legitimate sound strategy. if they were as organized as you said i am surprised you won. but i still fail to see the problem with headshot. its just our specific targeted attack. the carbineers have legshot and the pistoleers have bodyshots. our disadvantage is lack of close-in protection and lack of a knockdown inherent in our profession. the other two have KD that prevents the opponent from healing. in pub8 we are going to be even worse in PVP due to the fact that the mind will no longer be non-healable or perhaps specifically targeted. no word on those cahnges yet.
im sorry if it came out as a flame but i am very reactionary when it comes to someone calling for nerfs on things that are not having problems and the basis of it is one side or another got trashed once in PVP. i am also at work and dont often have time to fully read what i type. so you will find that i often have to make further posts to fully expound my thinking at a later date
For lack of better words...what she said.
