Thread: Either NERF the Jawa ion rifle or make it a REAL ion rifle.

get some 40% stun armor a 45% psg and stop whining, jawa ions can barely scratch you with those on
lets do some math...
say someone has a very nice krayted jawa with 500 max damage
he uses head shot 3 and hits for 500 damage with the pvp damage reductions in place
first his damage is reduced by 40% so that makes it go down to 300 that actually hurts you.
then after that the PSG comes into play, thats at least 45% and if you have an eff sliced one you can get 60% resistance easily but for the hell of it we'll say you have 45% to stun with it, thats 165 after everything is factored in that still is pretty good, but it helps considerably

i didnt read the whole post. sorry.
but one thing im really getting bored with seeing is the all the whines based around 'it wasnt like that in the films'

now by now i would hope that most people would realise this game is never going to be exactlly like the films or stories and stop trying to make the game just like them.
if we made this game exactlly like the films it would be a completly differnt game. yeah u might not like the way some things are but either play or log off. easy as that.
of course you've got the option of waiting for the combat balance but thats a whole other story and hole other thread which im not even going to get into.
sorry if you take this as a flame, believe me its not my style but think some people really need to start just accepting the game for what it is and stop trying to force it to be just like their image based around the films.

If you have 40% stun armor and a 45% PSG, it works out to a total 82% stun resistance. That's not bad considering the cap on armor is 90% and stun weapons are typically weaker then most other types. If you aren't satisfied with that, get an effeciveness slice andbring it up to the 90% cap. There is always going to be something that will kill you. The better you prepare, the less things there are that are a major threat. If you aren't even going to get buffs or the proper equipment, you won't stand a chance against anyone who is even semi-serious in pvp.

The first rifle I had ever looted was a jawa ion rifle, the only reason I actualy used it was because it beat the CDEF's that pretty much were all that was out on the market at the time. Right now the only time I ever actually use one is when something is vulnerable to stun or has an insanely high energy resist while simultaneously having a low stun resist. Hmm, this sounds a lot like composite armor. Resistance to everything at an insane level but a couple of weaknesses. But let's forget that since the problem is obviously our weaker then hell rifle that has 2 uses.

Newsflash buckaroo, not a whole lot about this game is accurate with Star Wars.
The other thing, if you are doing your PVPing in Anchorhead without buffs or stun armor, then you are not in ANY position to request anything about this game. Obviously you are way too new to make any legitimate complaints based on game time played.
Buffs pay for themselfs, and there is no reason you "can't afford them." Run a couple of missions and they double the money you put into them
If you don't want to buy stun armor, then don't PVP. Right now, no matter the class, if they have a stun weapon they will use it due to the weakness in Composite Armor. Bounty Hunters can target the same pool, as can swordsman and TKA's. BH's and Pistoleers can tear you up as fast with a Geonosian Pistol, and the Fencers with Stun batons will kill you quickly as well. Actually, given what you what you "choosed" to do, you'll get beat by about anyone that PVPs.
You should buy a PSG with Stun resisitance at the very least, and if "80 % percent of my PVP deaths" were from headshots by stun rifles, I'd probably buy a Stun resistant helmet at the very least. Quit whining about rifleman before you even know how the hell to play the game.
To PVP effectivly, you need to know about class defenses, accuracy modifiers, resists, weapon types, food types, state attacks, posture changes, and dots. You need to know how to defend against and defeat people that use them. Any Mele Defense Stacker would own a Rifleman for breakfast if they knew what they were doing, so I'd suggest if you are going to PVP, then you make the same time investment into doing so that everyone else does. Buy the stun armor, which should cost between 500k and 1 million. Hit the forums and learn about the game and the foods you use, and practice and work to get better rather than coming on to my boards and trying to get someone to take MY FUN away from the game because you are too lazy to learn how to play it yourself.
And for the record, when I go somewhere to PVP, I use sniper shot to steal as many faction points as I can. Even if I didn't do 1 point of damage to the person. So it's no wonder you get killed that way a lot.

The Jawa ion rifle deals out ionization(sorry for mispelling if any) damageto disable droids, NOT TO WHACK PEOPLE OR ANIMALS.
Stun can whack a biological being senseless,
while
Ion can whack a droid or other electrical things (like a starfighters control system) senseless.
Stun doesnt work on electrical things while Ion doesnt work on on biological things (except cyborgs....part bio, part electromagnetic)
I've heard rumors about nerfing rifleman and/or at least the headshot skills because so many have complained about peoplespamming headshot 3 in PvP battles, with this most of us that choosed rifleman for PvE purposes will be more or less just crap.
Our pool attacks will be almost useless.
A solution to this is simple:
either
1. Nerf the Jawa Ion rifle considerabily (Ion riflesmade espically for PvP deals out ALOT OF DAMAGE)
or
2. The DEV's can keep "stun" as the Jawa rifles damage type, BUT...make the Jawa rifle usable ONLY ON DROIDS and you cant even attack at all or hit another beeing wich isnt a droid, not even with area attack.
I guess alot of you will just tell me to get buffed, eat alot of food and get stun armor....if thats the case, my answer is:

I've been a master rifleman since august 2003. I havent used a Jawa Ion rifle in a long time. I find my loot dropped DXR-6B to be much better at doling out the damage, as most everyone on my server has IPSG's and Stun armor. I'd like to see more protection from Lightsaber damage than anything from stun.
I did use my Jawa alot back when nobody had stun armor. it was much fun. But we all adapt.
