I don't HAVE a Mauler. Are you SURE that it's THIS class you speak of as being the most powerful? I sure as hell can't do that... I would look to another class as being the source of power
Totally agree. While I think riflemen are at a pretty good stage right now I suspect you would have a lot of trouble taking that mob down without something standing in front of you soaking up the damage.
This is the exact role I see rifleman playing, using their abilities to do large damage from behind a group of players. It's where rifle truly excels.
Agreed
Would you have done the same without a shield of people, pets, or mechachickens?
I'm a Master CH working on Master Rifle. When I started PVP, I realized early on that I was relying on my pets tooheavily and not on my rifle skills and tactics.I forced myself to put away my 2 PVP Squills (SpongeBob and Squillward) and go it alone with the rifle. For about 5 days straight, I raided the outskirts of Bestine with only my trusty laser rifle. I died a lot and I even killed some, but more importantly, I learned what tactics were needed to be a rifleman PVPer. That plus my 2 squills make an awesome combo now, and I'm not even a Master Rifleman yet. Last night, I killed 10 imps outside of Bestine. Not allin one battle and not one right after the other. Here are the tactics I learned for PVP:
1. Have a Doc buff your health and action. Have a Dancer buff your mind. I dont like drugs, but that is a personal choice.
2. Powerup your weapon the way you want. This is personal choice from damage, to speed, to ham costs, to increased range.
3. Knowthe location that you are raiding. Know fall back positions and rest/heal positions.
4. Realize you are not an army of one and cant take on 3 people at the same time solo.Sometimes a team might be sent out to hunt you down, but try to avoid this situationIf you can.
4. Distance, Distance, Distance. Try to only engage at maximum range and then dont let them close on you. Yeah, you might get called a coward for running away to maintain distance, but you will have the last laugh as they drop.
5. Fall back and heal your minds and wounds after every battle. You are not the energizer bunny that can keep going and going and going. Try to start each fight fresh.
6. Personally, I like to start with a mind bleed, then switch to HS3. At least I know that eventually they are going down if reinforcements arrive to help them.
7. Save sniper shot and save mind when you can. Yes, its cool to kill your enemies from adistance, but you never know when you might get jumped right after a battle. If its safe, run up and DB them. If its not, sniper shot away.
8. For you ch people, have pets on guard. This will just save time from you having them toattack your targets. Seconds count in a battle. Dont count on the pets to do your work. I think of them as a distraction that also help create havoc, mayhem, and some damage for me. I'm the person to be worried about, not my pets.
Man, I cant wait to get Master. Its gonna really get fun then.
ok for the "would you be able to do that without a meatsheild or mechapokemon" argument:
no, and no one other than a jedi master could either. Its just that with those tanks a master rifleman can outdamage 7 people, I came to a conclusion. Perhaps I shouldve worded my post "most powerful class in X+YZ variables situation". And Im not some dabbler in CH, Im two boxes from master, so even if the at goes ill still be there. I agree that the game is too dependant on pets, but thats the system, lead, follow orfish.
as far as standing up to a single 8-9k ham creature and going toe to toe without someone else healing you... maybe. more than one of them and definately not. since most creatures of that range have some sort of social aspect, i would say that without someone or something else soaking the damage your going to die. true for all classes.
it is possible to use warning shot on things up to rancor size and solo it. more than two level 60 creatures and the high failure rate of warning shot at that level will leave you dead. with difficulty 35ish creatures it is possible to manage up to 3 or 4 of them with warning shot.
but then WHY would anyone want to inflict that level of frustration on themselves?? doing it once or twice or occasionally as a challenge is fine but why force everyone else to that playstyle because of a masochistic bent??
what i dont get is the attitude that some folks have towards other's playstyles. no one is forcing anyone else to use pets. if the desire is there to use a pet then use it if it isnt then dont force me to give up my other skills. no one is forcing you to fight with them. it is the same silliness that the death penalty crowd spouts. the same logic applies no one is forcing them NOT to give up skill boxes when they die. why should the rest of us be forced to give up skills on death?? play it your way i will play mine and we will both have fun!!
