yup , that explains why virtually every range combatant is now a rifleman , not because its the most effective pvp class ( along with combat medic ) . please take a look on different server forums and read what all the uber pvp'ers have to say . its pretty much unanimous that rifleman and combat medic have major advantages compared to other classes . this is the rifleman forum and you are protecting your own interests by advocating staus quo . i should have known better then to expect unbiased views here .

and yes, i have been rifleman.

ummmmm nooooo.... its because most of us have bothered to read what the devs have said about HAM changing which will remove the one advantage rifle have over other skills in PVP and taht is attacking an unhealable pool. but your argument belies the fact that PVP is an extreme minority playstyle and the game should NOT be balanced with pvp being the sole factor.

Sure but when will the devs get around to changing it? They just stated that it is not happening next publish, and publish 9 is the jedi revamp.

I know your being Sarcastic thats why I'm calling you a self hating rifleman. OK you want to balance rifleman with other professions heres the way to do it.


1 Reduce the effectiveness of composite-Make it so that no matter what it is vulnerable verse 2 damage types(Acid and Stun) and make it so that it only protects verse energy at 85% effectiveness, the rest can be 65%. With this change revamp the wholearmor system to the idea that all armor is equal but protects verse diffrent damage types.


2 Make mind Stim healable.


3 Do not allow secondary buffs to totally negate special costs, riflemen have higher special costs and this would futher balance us.


4 Remove the 75% PVP damage reduction, this hurts pistoleers and carbineers and only helps rifleman.



Gave you 4 steps to bring rifleman in line with the other professions.

yeah right you use advanced straf on some guy for 4500 damage he is dead

Some commando sprays you with concentrated fire for 9000 points you are dead before you even do a style.

TKm using UH3 on you for 2500 extremley fast you are dead before you even do a style.


if it applies to EVERYONE, how can it make any difference at all ?! Fact is rifles hit harder, they hit harder reguardless of any +/- you impilment into PvP

rather than tone down a clearly overpowered class you want to nerf/change 4 others

get real man - if they want to balnce this game they need to re-apply their stupid speed equation and get it right this time and not allow rifleman to hard cap out at 96-97 speed infact all they need to do is restructure the rifle XP tree to allow remove some of the speed and make you fire at 2 sec hardcap.

if you are using it as a sniper rifle you need a little bit of time to aim the bloody gun at the guys head- they can reflect this.
If you are playing T-21 machine gunner all your styles should be hard but random, you should not be able to to directed shots eg: HS3 on your target with this weapon.

Increase the speed modifers on the special moves. That way those who go for master marksman and get skill tapes can still be useful.


Just make it longer for a shot to fire special wise.

While that would indeed be fun for commandos, it would be just a tad overpowered and imbalanced IMO. We'd be back to one-shotting players all over again. Heck, I could probably one-shot an unarmored/unbuffed player using stopping shot with my DX2 if the 75% reduction wasn't in.

Even the best carbineer will loose to an rifleman if he's buffed/armored and got atleast some skill. Even if a carbineer get them dizzy/kd there is no way we can damage them enough before they are up again and starts spamming headshots with an jawa.

So you are telling me that having an 80% resistance to all player dealable damage (with the exception of stun which is only useable by several key professions) is an intended feature? People are not supposed to be able to damage anyone as long as they have a million credits to burn and enough stats to equip an item. You are also telling me that having substats that allow any creature to wear the best armor and also fire specials with complete disregard for one of their costs is an intended feature? Armor and buffs ruined PvP.


Before that you never heard a peep about riflemen being overpowered except from the guys with 300 mind and no armor on in a fight. Now, however, if you are any profession that does not attack the mind you have to deal with an immense pool that just keeps on refilling since anyone can target their stim in their inventory let alone a hotkey well before they get into the moderate danger zone let alone the actual danger zone due to their sheer size and regeneration rate thanks to the substats being immense. Couple this with the fact that almost all damage types are being negated by the AT-ST hull you have strapped to your chest and the health and action bar are the worst things a person can target and just happens to be the ones that are targetted by the classes that are complaining about mind damage.


If I were to fight someone unbuffed I would die to them pretty often. Likely I would have a 60% success rate but then again I like considering myself a winner I would not be able to wear any armor thanks to the massive encumberance it would effect on me destroying my mind (largest encum on all armors) so that me migrating everything there to help out with my profession is negated as well as removing almost all of my other sub stats. I might be able to wear a few key pieces and that is all. Even with this armor, however, I would be dead very quickly because all of my other stats are incredibly low to allow me to have higher mind to allow me to use specials with some frequency meaning that all my other stats (which other people target) to have high mind. This is what happened at the beginning of the game back when everything had a pro and a con where-as now everything just has a pro and a cost.


Believe what you will of my profession because honestly I could care less. I'm staying with it come hell or high water but don't completely discount these points because it would involve nerfing other professions for the betterment of the game. Hell if it involves removing buffs and toning down armor I'll take a 2.5x melee multiplier and a 3 second speed cap gladly just to show how much this **edit** ruined the game.

yep.. i've been defending us on other posts-- swordsman being most recent.

i really wish people would shut up about this rifle being blast damage until it's shown to be.
