The Beam Rifle was a Commando weapon back in beta (it does give rifle XP, just like the Launcher Pistol used to give pistol XP). When they revamped theCommando classto include the Heavy Acid Rifle (which still is physically identical to the Beam Rifle until you fire or "Examine" it), they added the HAR cert toNovice Commando and removed the Beam Rifle cert. They never remove the schematic from weaponsmiths, however, so you still can occasionally see them around.

I have a Krayt Beam Rifle that can me into the low 20's on damage every time.

This gun has not had a certification since release Tycalibur. You can make them, you can buy them and anyone can use one, but it acts like any weapon that you are not certified to use. No one makes them because no one can be certified to use them. This means that no matter what type of profession you have this gun will do 10-20dmg or something like that.

The rifleman that said he could use one was Wayneinaustin. He was giving a humorous anecdote to explain what the beam rifle is good for and when to use it (basically good for nothing and never use it). Read his post again and you might see the humor in it, no gaurantee though.

Yeah, I realized that after a couple of minutes and talking to a few friends.

They need to make this weapon useable or eliminate it from the WS's schematics.
