I've been running scared ever since "Master Sharpshooter" became a common sight.

It was always my little secret....now everybody and their shadow is picking up a rifle...

I think if you look around the various forums, you'll find a *lot* of different professions are starting to have the "WE R UB3R" threads popping up. I don't think it's because these professions are overpowered, but because we're finally reaching a point where most professions and skills are working! Those of us around during beta knew the release date on this game was going to be around Jan 1, 2004

And now they're going to fubar them all up over the next few months in the combat balance pass. Yay!

Well, as a Newly Master Rifleman. (By Choice, No dam Holo or for PvP)

I see a lot of Elite classes all over now. A few months ago is was Pistoleers.. since the resources and abundance of Krayt tissues made the pistols uber. Besides, not to many people wore armor. Now that the Krayt Powered Guns are fadding away.. and Lot's of people are wearing armor. Expect to see more Rifleman. Especially since our Prof. is not very broken. Suprise shot is.. and I think it's the only one.

Though, I do think they made a mistake taking away the 2.5 melee damage modifier. It made getting Close to anything very Dangerous with a Rifle in your hands. Which is how it should be.. We are the Long Range Artists..

I hope they don't "balance" anymore combat classes until the ones that are Broke are fixed. Then see how it all falls together.

I see more commando's, bounty hunters, pistoleers and TKA's around on shadowfire. I'm just starting out at novice rifleman cause killing targets from a far distance is fun lol, but i have noticed that only the T21 is good at 64m. Seems odd that our rifles dont all have that kind of range or atleast around 60m. the republic blaster gets a +0@64m and its a pistol

Of course. As soon as my beloved rifleman profession is finally given some love, we get nerfed. Instead of taking the time to fix the other combat professions, just take the lazy way out and start swinging the nerf bat in the name of "balancing". Does anybody else see the problem with this? Devs, how are you ever going to balance this game when you keep undoing your own work? It makes no sense. Its like building a house and bulldozing the whole thing when theres one screw out of place. Ugh...rant over.

I say this because Im afraid of a well balanced profession catchingthe Nerf Bat.

lmfao...what proffession is that? It's certainly not riflemen, not when you spam specials just as fast as pistoleers do, not when you have better accuracy ANYWHERE within 64m then any other ranged class does (at master), not when you can do 3x the damage then any other ranged proffession...no, you are not balanced at all, it's very rediculous to see a riflemen with more deffence then the majority of melee proffessions as well...you will be nerfed, it's inevitable

And please one star me if it makes you feel like my post is wrong...

Experienced Rifleman > TKA or any other melee profession. Remember kiting is your friend.

Well considering you hit just as well at melee range as you do from 64m (at master) away the only thing that can screw up the riflemen is dizzy/kd...and through a lot of testing lately, doesn't work nearly 90% of the time against riflemen...

how do you "fix" pistoleers to make them competitive with riflemen? do you give them a ton more damage? No, that's not like a pistol, the only way to "fix" things is to nerf the speed of specials to make that realistic for once.

Rifles are suppose to be alot stronger than pistol. One shot one kill = Sniper. This proffesion doesnt need to be nerfed. Every proffesion has its weakness you just have to be smart enough to figure it out and use some tactics.

Ohhhh TACTICs you say....red blip on radar, combat initiated, dead...oh what should I have done there? Please tell me there was some tactic I could have done...I thought about burstrunning the other way, but you know, everyone has the same max speed, so he could have burst ran too and it would have been pointless...so ya, I don't see where there is any tactics that could be involved when fighting a riflemen, especially since they don't need to be PRONE to SNIPE, they're just as mobile as everyone else is, somehow...that's another thing that's just stupid, guys with CANNONS for guns (T21s) should not be able to run around and have amazing accuracy, you would not hit 100% of the time carrying that thing if you were running 20 miles per hour at top speed....

I'm not sure I understand the post. I'm now a master rifleman, and yes I started in July, and yes I was able to make master 100 times faster after the last patch, and yes I see everyone and their brother going rifleman now that it has become so easy to master.

BUT...

Rifleman havezilch forknockdown defense mods. I've found that if a good master BH gets the first shot (charging shot from carbine)and you go down... forget it about it. Game / Set / Match.

He can spam dizzy shots and posture changes while you press F1a dozen times and die.

I dueled a guy five times andgot less than 10 shots in. "You are so dizzy so fall down... blah blah blah." PvP has been broken from day one and it will remain broken because the programming is royally screwed. Knockdown has been the problem from day one and it will remain the problem for PvP, the more they try and fix it, the more broken it gets.

PvP combat is a joke and the people who go around mastering the "uber profession of the week" to get the edge in PvP have serious ego issues. To them all I say, "Go back to Quake III."
