Thread: Worth Getting a T-21?

I agree with Barb, and to be honest, I find that the slower rate of fire of the T-21, keeps me from spamming headshot and using up the ham pool. The mindshot 2 with a T-21 more than makes up the difference of squeezing off 2 rounds with the Laser that will most likey be small hits anyway.

I fight Force mobs solo, that have high resists, and alot of Ham, yes the pets help, but honestly give the FS mob time and he will finish off your pair of grauls pretty quick. I tried with a Laser rifle sliced up in the mid 500s for damage, and to be honest, damage wise it was like tossing stones. The T-21 though rocked his world, although my head shots were for 700 ish, the mind bleed was still getting him 1200 or so a tick. My headshots with the Laser were in the 200s. Something to keep in mind.

I really think the higher min damage of the T-21, the Armor piercing ability, and the massive wound, makes it a winner for the tougher Mobs.

And though I have nothing to support this, I believe the T-21 is more accurate. I have quite a few "miss" even pronewith Laser on big kills, and rarely unless im running and firing, do I miss with the 21.

And lets face it, it just plain looks cooler

laser rifle all the way. with a good speed slice and a damage powerup on it, i can outdamage anyone in my hunting groups.

t21s are too **edit** slow. though they are nice for the first MS2 in a PvP fight, after that its all laser rifle.

Thanks for the info guys, and yeah I've been shopping at AAR on Dantooine. Some of the T-21's are 50k which I gota save up for since I burned all my money switching proffessions twice in One week lol. Seems like the only Weapons vendor that actually has something on it. Think the weapon smiths are a dying breed.

Definitely the AP3 is worth it, as well as the higher minimum damage means ull hit for higher than the laser for some, its more consistent that way (hitting for 100 just sucks - low damage output occassionally from lasers )

One other thing. As stated, the Laser's medium armor piercing gets a 1.56x boost to damage against an unarmored opponent. A T21's heavy armor piercing gets a 1.95x boost to damage against an unarmored opponent.

However, if you plan to try to attack an AT-ST, its heavy armor rating means that the T21 will do straight damage (no boost from armor piercing since the AT-ST's armor matches the T21's armor piercing). However, the Laser will take a 50% hit to the damage it can deal against an AT-ST (or any target with heavy armor) because the Laser is only medium armor piercing and will suffer an armor rating penalty. So a hit that would do 400 base damage against an unarmored opponent with the Laser will only do 200 against an AT-ST where as the T21 would do the full 400 damage.

And since Bleeds do not work against an AT-ST, you need to be doing as much normal damage as you can if you expect to take it down. So even if you did not want to use it in every day situations, the T21 is definitely a must have special circumstances weapon if nothing else.

I played around a bit last night with 2 rifles, mostly doing Picket missions. My wookie has his mind stats at 1100, 650, 600, I typically don't use various (doc, dancer, food, spice) buffs.

T21 was 171-430, 7.8 spd, 65-68-98 HAMs
Laser was 54-526, 5.8 spd, 14-23-59 HAMs

Consistantly I was finding myself sitting & recovering for a long time if I used the T21, if I used the laser however, my kill and recovery rates were much faster.

The T21 has a few spots it shines in though, bleeds from it are great, I'm starting to regularly now begin with a bleed from T21 & then switch back to the laser for the rest. Also I was in a group doing Kunga's for a bit, in a group where you're not as worried about HAM costs, the T21 works out nicely as well. When solo'ing, I rely pretty heavily on specials, namely flushing2, so this obviously factors in as well; If I could drop the reliance on specials the T21 would start to look better, but when solo'ing my main concern is killing as fast as possible, as that means less petstims I need to use.

There's also the speed issues, the T21 will probably start to look better once I hit master as well, I'm currently at 4144.

Overall they're pretty much the same, just for my playstyle (mostly solo), & my current level, the laser lets me kill faster & more efficiently. Next test I'll probably try with using spice.

**edit** TopFlite that is an astoundingly bad T21 for ham and speed. i have two on Bri one is mid 70ish in mind ham and speed of 7.2 the other is high 70's speed 7.4 both sliced for damage and run about 400ish top end.

i bet you got one that had a stock/scope added to it. my headshot3 run about 150 mind and headshot2 coming in about 110 and slowly decreasing as my stats migrate up. i am shooting for 1000/1000/600 mind and currently about 800/650/600

As a Ranger/Rifleman on Radient I ask: "What is a T21?"

A little confusion here for me:

The way to stack ms is ms1/ms2? Right now I am setup for ms2/ms1.

A quick clarification, some of you say use t21 first the finish off with laser. Does that mean:

aim/ms2/ms1 switch to laser

or

aim/hs1 switch to laser ms2/ms1

Help me Obi Wan yer my only hope.

Always fire MS2 first. If you miss, fire it again.

The whole point is that you may have limited time to fire before the MOB charges you and changes your whole game plan. So you want to hit him with your best shot first! Mindshot 2 is your best bleed shot. If you have time to land BOTH MS2 and MS1, then it doesnt matter what order you fired them.

Do you want me to post my "Mindshots 101" note here again?
