It looks like the bowcaster has yet to be adjusted since that damage is so close to meatlump droped versions.
on the DPS
the stated value is simply the average damage of the weapon divided by the speed. This would lead me to think that there will still be a reachable 1 sec cap although this is something the devs have stated they want to avoid.
Since I have yet to be able to log on and i have to work on getting my Scout ready for FI this weekend tonight I have yet to get a feel for the new speed forumla if it is really changed at all. Calculating this will be a cornerstone to all of our TRUE dps calculations to come. When we get to train some skills from frogs I will find a artisan to make me some weapon repair tools to break one of these rifles so i can start calculating the new speed mods

marksmen skills appear to have about a 1.2 -1.5x max damage modifiers and 2x for overload. I am collecting my combat logs to find the max and min I do with each weapon and each attack.
speed formula could be fairly complex now for what I understand as it no longer is a % speed reduction nor is it linear (ready to do a stats course for analysis? ^_^)
Watch, I could just imagen after the CURB comes out:
Us: "Yay we finally have kinetic rifles again!"
Devs: "There was never a time you didn't have kinetic rifles."
Us: "Sure we did, we didn't have kinetic rifles after you changed the tusken rifle to energy."
Devs: "We never did that, it has always been kinetic."
Us: "But..... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH." (As our characters are teleported into space again)
Devs: "Excelent. Everything is going as I have forseen it."

It will convert to a pretty uber object I would think. The best on the server = still the best on the server.
