Thread: The Disillusionment of a Rifleman....
Yet again More VALUABLE INFORMATION!!!!!
=============================================
For instance, the rifles should have been given huge dmg, but no dmg over time. When you think about it, something hit with a T21 shouldn't have time to bleed to death before you blow it's head off. Pistols should have had lower dmg, but gotten the bleed shots. since it's more likely that you would bleed to death or die from shock induced trauma before a bullet actually destroyed a vital area unless you are an excellent shot and aim straight for the heart or the brain. Besides, a pistols round will usually stay in the body and cause more harm over time than a rifle bullet which usually passes through creating all of it's trauma at one time

I'm currently Rifleperson 2/0/0/1. I am strongly considering dropping the second sniper skill and maxing Rifle at1/0/0/4,forweapon speed and Mindshot2 only. I don't know that Headshot3 is worth the cost, I don't know that becoming Master Rifleperson for basically just SniperShot, StrafeShot2 and +20 speed is value for skill points.
Yes, I know there isConcealShot and other stuff like some crowd control and defences, but for a character built for PvP I think I can do better spending the points in other skill trees. Like Swordperson, which instantly fixes melee weaknesses (Ionly have Expert 2-Handed atm, and a weak thugis struggling to do more damage than I re-gen with minimisedconstitution/stamina. That's as a human with no armour).
Or Commando...
Harumph!
I had a very depressing weekend as well. Also a rifleman/ranger.
3-2-3-2 and I wasdropped by a mugger on the way back to town... twice!
Someone asked me to kill them to send them home and I ran out of mind before they did spamming headshot3 from ideal range both of us standing still and opponent wearing no armor.(talk about embarrasing he had to wait for my mind to regen so I could finish the mercy killing)
I ran across a light lightning cannon which had about double the damage of a T21,hugely superior range mods, much better speed, and better special move costs.
I could go on, but you all know how it is. Basically I just think we suck right now. I can accept the melee damage multiplier, though I think it's way overdone at more than about an extra 35%. I can accept that in a running gun battle from mid range a pistol bearershould usuallydrop me. What I can't accept is that even if I get theedge on someone and am lying down at ideal range before they see me I probably still lose. I can't accept elite rifles that are all so punitive to their user that I'm happiest with a DLT20 or E11 still. And as stated I can't accept the combination of bugs and mechanics that negate every possible rifleman advantage after the first shot.
I basically think we're set up as if they need to compensate for one shot kill level superiority with heavy handed punitive measures, but we don't live in a viable one shot kill world. We need to go one way or the other. Either back up a few steps on the rediculous gimping mechanics or give us the wicked potency that offsets them. Either way works for me.
I hate logging on now... I know that I'm going to get at least 3 warp deaths a night.
Its much better to be a pistoleer like every single person in the game and just kite everything without any possibility of death.
Ok enough is enough this is getting out of hand.
PvE is still as easy as going to LOK getting a Snorbal mission and kiting to your hearts content. I spent a few hours there myself tonight, know how many warps I had? ZERO. Does hit percentage even matter when all you have to do is land 2 DoT's and run around tell it dies? Dont tell me this is not a good way to level because I and many other Master Rifleman have leveled this way. Hell half the people on every server is probably doing Snorbal missions as I type this.
bravo to orginal poster, altough I would recomend not making it a single paragraph read ![]()
For the longest time I cannot understand the advantage of using a riffle, in anyother game riffles would be great at a distance, but in this one its a 2 headshots and the creature is on your toes after that, what the heck is the point of using a riffle??????????
that post even got me depressed ive spent so long getting master rifle and still get killed by a BH who has eyeshot everytime
great post i think if aldeon stepped down or if we needed to choose a new correspondant then you would get my vote err do we even vote? or do the devs choose..

you have chosen a broken and unkept profession.....
You guys are missing the bigger picture.
This is something that has dawned on me and had pushed me to another serve. I cant delete or restart my character, i cant bring myself to do it. Im doing so in the hope that they will fix it.
I am a rifleman (3/2/12) and Master Ranger. Now this sounds impressive. But something i am aiming for which alot of people have forgotten (which is good in away) but these 2 profession i personally think will be the last to get a FS slot. Their general play style will limit the ability to attain a FS Slot.
One of the big things i think the devs are going for (inregards a Force Sensitive Slot) is the player interaction. And as a rifleman/ranger there is hardly any.
I find it depressing when i think of it, but all the deaths that happen to all of us, has to have a negative effect on our FS Slot. Surely they are not going to let a player that dies several times a night due to one thing or another. (best one ever tonight, had a merek harvester down to 100/9000 mind, i had about one more shot, he warps and hits me for 1500 dam, im incapped followed by death) I even had a P Dart on him (slows there movement but he still warped) If we are dying like this what chance to we have?
Ranger isnt much better, with the exception of traps, ive got a whole elite profession that takes 2 professions to master (scout & ranger) and they are useless. Camo kits arent all they are cracked up to be. I thought that would be the saving grace but alas the resources are to hard to get for the planet you actually need to travel to to advance your skill.
I dont know, at the moment, im spending my time on valcyn where i have a TKA / Pikeman / Medic underway. And until they chage the rifleman profession, i think ill be sticking to that character abit more.
Im sorry to bring this great post into a flame war
but ive stands as much as i can stands, and i cant stand no more!!!
SilverLobo
you amaze me. constantly you berate fellow rifleman. Yes you are a master, allpraise SilverLobo, and by the sounds of it you have used every single bug there is in the game to get there. (snorbels and kiting isnt being a rifleman)
If that is what you did to become a Master Rifleman, congrats to you, myself i would rather give up the profession than just hit snorbels and kite.
If you are constantly going to berate rifleman (which you do, just about every post i have ever seen you post is sayin "stop whinning" do this do that") leave the forums, besides why would you want to come back here and read what the whiners are posting, and leave it for people how are trying to have a meaningful discussion and put forward some of the problems we are all having as rifleman and hopefully have the devs hear our plea.
Im not asking for rifleman to be the new uber skill (commandos turn) im just asking for a fair chance aslong as everyone else. Is it fair we still take 2.5 x damage when they are wraping from 60m to on top of you and you are incapped and dead before you can stand up?
Agreed with TookrakLarrin 100% percent. This is the type of attitude I would never adopt when I reach Master Riffleman. This "Screw everyone else, I'm Master Riffleman, who cares about the others" and "Stop yah whining cause I don't have the same problem as you do..." is just plain pretentious and condesending. I hope, no wait...I know, I will never be like that once I reached Master, when will always understand what wehad to go through to reach the ultimate level.
I give kudos to this great initial post. It is like a Hawk's post but lacks the ranting. They both are talking about the same thing but this is a nicer way to put into perpective of how broken our class is...
I'm failing to see what y'all think is so bad about the rifleman. Granted, I've yet to see pvp with this character, but in pve I've found the winning combonation.
I'm a Doctor by trade with rifleman and ch as secondaries. I'm actually considering dropping my doctor skills to just Master Medic and raising Rifleman to master. Right now I ammaster doc (and I don't use buffs regularly), level 1 CH, and novice rifleman. I can solo 3-5 red con 10k ham critters at a time. Hit everything with MS and then assist the pet with HS2. When pet needs a heal run into range and hook him up.
If I do use buffs it's normally to buff secondary stats on the pet to help him regen faster.
I've been using a sliced laser rifle as my weapon of choice up until last night. Just bought a t21 and had it sliced. With a powerup it's looking at 400 max dmg and 4.8 spd. I can't wait to tear some $hit up after work. ![]()
I don't ever expect to be able to solo in pvp. Nobody should be able to solo in pvp, but that's a different thread entirely. It's my opinion that the rifleman should be in the back dropping big key hits when needed. If designed properly everyone should need somebody elses help to make you shine. In a rifleman's case he needs someone else to take the heat and distract the target. What's the problem with that?
