Thread: Guys, I am all yours, the holo told me to master rifelman plz fill me in
The suggestions given are all valid, but I note the absense of people talking about /concealshot obtained at Concealment I. This shot is well worth the points if you expect to solo. Conceal shot does not trigger an auto-response attack unless you miss twice. So it is as if your target cannot see you. It does nothide you from BAF mobs' friends. Your target will be unaware of you, but his friends will still respond.
However, for solo Mobs, such as the rouge varieties of species, you can kill them without taking a scratch. The only thing is, if you miss twice (and not twice in a row), the conceal will break and they will come after you.
Even with that, with a little patience, you can solo many things in the game at low risk. After /mindshot2, /concealshot was the first special I went for.
This shot is even useful when working in groups. It targets random pool rather than mind, so when in a group with non-riflemen, you can help attack pools that other people are working on. However, unlike some of the other shots we have that target random pools, Conceal shot will not trigger the autoresponse, so if everyone else in your group goes down, you will not be next on the target's menu, at least not until you have missed twice.
All the other skills are necessary as well, but Concealshot is a must have for some situations.

Muon gold USED to be a rifleman's best friend. It's still a good friend, but now a buff from a master musician is a rifleman's best friend. A 5-10 minute /setperform from a MM will double your focus/willpower bars. This means your mind bar will regen at a great rate. These buffs last 2 hours and usually have no ill effects afterwards! With your mind bar in good shape, you can use stimB's to heal HA. Everything is covered!
But what's even better is that muon gold stacks on top of these buffs! But weird things can happen when it wears off.
As an aspiring Rifleman, it would be useful to have some info on the weapons we use:
T21 - After the T21 nerf, this weapon is less potent, but it is still a necessary tool. It has a much higher min. damage than a Laser, though sometimes not as high of a max. damage depending on the builds. However, the laser does medium armor piercing (AP2), while the T21 does heavy (AP3). AP3 against an unarmored target does 1.95 times the same base damage of an AP0 weapon where as an AP2 weapon like the Laser only gets a 1.56 times bonus over that same base damage. However, because of its (usually) higher HAM costs and slower speed, the T21 is often relegated to special targets (e.g., AT-STs) or used to create mind bleeds before moving to a faster/lower HAM cost weapon to continue the fight. However, it is a necessary tool in the Rifleman's inventory, and it is the only rifle uniquely certified in the Rifleman tree.
Laser Rifle - This weapon is often the mainstay of the Rifleman's attack. It does medium armor piercing (AP2). The Laser has a lower minimum damage than a T21, but often, especially with advanced components and a good damage slice, can have a higher max damage than a T21. Laser speeds and HAM costs are generally lower than a T21 as well, making it the weapon of choice for many situations.
Spraystick - The spraystick is basically small rifle weapon with pistol-style speed and damage stats. It has no armor piercing (AP0), but Speed sliced and powered up for speed, you can fire this weapon, even without Master Level speed modifiers, at 1.0 second per shot. Being that is a rifle, you can continue to use Rifle-only specials like headshot or mindshot. However, it has relatively poor accuracy modifiers, and despite the fact that it is smaller than any pistol (looks like you are holding a can of mace), you still take the 2.5x melee modifier since it is a rifle. But it is still a useful tool.
E11 Rifle - I think the E11 rifle is an under appreciated weapon. It is a medium armor-piercing weapon (AP2) like the Laser, but it is faster than and does much higher minimum damage than a Laser, and it has lower HAM costs as well. Its main drawback is that it has a much lower max damage than a Laser rifle. However, many riflemen use it as their primary rather than the Laser. You will not see as big of high-end shots as you will with many Lasers or T21s, but neither will you see any very low-end shots either. I would not give up my Laser for it, but I am beginning to use this weapon almost as much as I use my Laser.
DLT20a - This is the Rifle user's weapon of choice until the Laser becomes available. It does no armor piercing, and does lower damage than the E11, but it is reasonably fast for a rifle and does minimal HAM damage compared to others. Many Riflemen, including some Masters, still swear by the DLT20a as their primary weapon because of the low HAM cost and speed advantages.
All of the above weapons do energy damage. The following weapons are also useful due to the fact that they do different kinds of damage than energy.
Jawa Ion Rifle - The Jawa damage is a little lower than an E11, but it does Stun damage. Many things, including composite armor, are vulnerable to stun damage, and this weapon has light armor piercing as well (AP1). It is an Ion rifle, and its official description suggests that it is good against droids and other mechanical things, but I have not tested this out.
SG82 - The SG82 does a similar damage range to the Jawa, but instead of Stun damage, it does Cold damage. It has no armor piercing (AP0). But it is a good weapon to have for things with a vulnerability to Cold.
Tusken Rifle - Have not used these. I believe they are useful early on as a replacement for the CEDF rifle, but are soon obsolescent compared to the other weapons available. Others may disagree.
1. adjust your stats. up all mind stats and lower all else.
2. progress as follows:
a) go up the concealment tree to 1. that gives you concealment ability and concealed shot.
b) go up accuracy until headshot 2
c) go up countersniping until 3 so you get your 1st AE. after the AE hunt in LARGE groups on advanced planets, you will master all remainign rifle abilities relatively quick. its kinda like going for CH pet xp with 1 pet vs with 2 pets. its easy to gain as much as 2-4k per kill and get many kills per fight in thsese groups.
d) EVERY opportunity you can advance soldier tree as this will increase your speed. this of course requires combat xp. do this regardless of where you are at the other trees unless you are like a couple k xp from the AE. all else is secondary to this tree.
weapons:
buy at least 5-8 laser rifles, with the following stats: max dmg 400+ , mind cost 60 or less, speed 5.8 or less.
make sure that the rifles meet all 3, not just one of the above listed reqs. get em all sliced, dump the crappy and speed sliced ones. that should yield 2-3 good weapons. keep one on your guy put rest in bank to aviod decay. put the remaining 7 on bazaar for 3k a piece for newbs.
you might want to buy a T21, but thats expensive and they kinda suck in comparison, my laser has max dmg of 738 and i hit for around 4.5-6k per strafe 2 with it. T21 cant even come close, just eats up HAM, although i do occasionally use it for AT-STs and some otehr heavily armored targets.
Jawa Ion Rifle - must have 229 max dmg, this little gun is great. it does stun dmg and has relatively low HAM.
other then that there are E11s which suck, SG82 does cold dmg and are kinda same as the Jawa Ion rifles otherwise, and spraysticks. spraysticks are very fast and rapidly firing but they will literally kill you in seconds if you spam a special with them so you have to be very carefull in their uses.
powerups:
32%+ max dmg 16%+mind cost reduction, ternary stat can be whatever , doesnt really matter as long as you got these 2. buy them in crates naturally and ALWAYS have a powered up weapon.
armor:
dump it and get BE / tape enhanced clothing instead.
you need the willpower / focus so you can last during battles, especially if you solo and use conceled shot for gaining xp.
i currently have 800 willpower and 650 focus and 1k mindpool and i am fairly satisfied. with this strafe 2 costs me 82-84 points pending powerup and i regen very fast, i am also a medic and i can use stim Cs and by time it recycles the timer all my mindpool from the stim use is back. so its nice.
tactics:
being a rifleman is NOT about tanking. its about nevwer geting hit while hiting your target. your health action stats shouldnt matter cause if you play right you will never agro things or learn how to get rid of teh agro fast.
use concealment, use pets or other people as tanks for headshot/mindshot combos. which as stated above will change once you get teh AEs.
this is my advice, i am so close to master i an taste it so i think i know what i am talking about. Get up to sniper ac 3 first, then master the counter sniper tree, then finish off sniper and get concealment. once ya master that you should be close to master spec ab. OH ya get a grual mauler or a ranor cause you gonna need it.
you wont be able to kill mobs as well as you could with carabineer, and you dont have any knockdowns or posture changers like actionshot or anything but its not so bad getting rifleman
atleast you didnt get something completely gay and a waste of time like tailor or image designer

I did not get a Holocron, but I did make novic rifle the other day, so thanks for the tips they helped me too.
i am also a master dancer and i know i can buff mind to incress 100% in 5 min. and if we are faction friendly I can buff it 125%. I am wondering why rifleman would not want that? I see how the master musican helps this class, but wondering if my dancer buff would also help.
Thanks for the tips!
I don't have a holo, but these are helpful.

The Tusken, while I've never seen what I would call a "good" one does have one interesting trait:
It doesn't broadcast the location of the attacker with the bright colored streaks of most rifles. In fact, it just sends a dull white tracer that can be easily overlooked by players in large PvP.
It doesn't make it a great weapon, its just something to bear in mind..
The weapon is very slow, like T21 slow, but I dunno how good of versions I've seen of them, there might be awesome ones, like that weird republic blaster that shows up a couple times on the bazaar...
