Thread: Possible profession combos with rifleman?

I'm a Master Combat Medic/ RIfleman. I have a rock beetle(non CH pet).

With a hit of Muon gold, I can solo 4 reds easily with my pet and my mind pool doesn't deplete while using Flushing shot 2. The down time is only about 3 minutes with Muon Gold(Spice) and it raises all mind related pools by 500.

I usually have to be a healer or a damage dealer in groups, it's really hard to do both. I switch to spray stick and heal usually.

Healing gives good combat xp, and being a combat medic means I'm wanted in groups more often. I think it's a pretty good combination. Area poisons and area effect rifle attacks are great in PvP as well. Combat Medic + Rifleman = Most damage before death(yes, it's inevitable, mind pool will be gone unless you're drugged up a lot)

I'm a Rifleman/Creature Handler.. I don't like professions that put an extra drain on my mind, and I don't like professions that make me put away my rifle.. The only problem I have is getting groups.. all I get is bitching that I do too much damage so I wind up putting away the pet.. then I still get the bitching for doing too much damage with my rifle when I'm just auto-attacking. If you want to get groups Rifleman/Combat Medic or Doctor is probably the best way to go, .. at least until they make the group exp system half decent...for puredps I don't think too manycould compete with a Master Rifleman (almost there)/Creature Handler.

Gazkan, i have similar problems. When i bring out my graul mauler, everyone says "What's that?" "Where'd you get it?". People leave my group after they see how much damage i do.

I am a Rifleman/Pistoleer Combo and I love it. Here is why...

1) It plays well in being a Master Marksman first. Master Marksman has a ton of statistics and really helps you become a better Rifleman then just a pure Master Rifleman. Having both Master Rifleman and Master Marksman,I now have every rifle statistic + in the game.

2) When I get basic Pistoleer it allows me to use a DX2 pistol.

3) Being a Pistoleer gives you a close range attack. It really allows you to throw out strength and stamina as important statistics. Also it gives a close range attack, that won't necessariy draw aggro like melee weapons

4) A pistoleer gives good raid strength. Typically in raids, people hit red. A pistoleer allows me to target and bleed red.

5) It allows me a way to mitigate not having a mind heal. Whenever I get low on blue, I just put my rifle away and pull out my pistol. Now I am taking from a different stat pool. I can go to town on special moves with my pistol while my rifle is "recharging". This also allows me to keep all my HP bars at an acceptable level. I am not always floating with blue down at the bottom waiting to beincapacitated/killed. This allows me to use a T-21 effectively.

6) I only took 2 lines in Pistoleer. The one that has Fan Shot, and the one that has Body Shot. These lines also add good knockdown/blind/etc defense. I get double the + to knockdown defense(1 from pistol, 1 from rifle). The BS line also has good defenses. As an alternative, throw out the BS line and take the pistol accuracy line (although with a pistol I find accuracy is not much of a problem with pistol speed and HAM cost). Pistol speed is not that important. How much pistol speed do you need before you hit the cap?

7) You can target two pools effectively. If you get Master Marksman, you can even keep a Carbine around just to pull out and target green for 1 shot if someone is very close to dead.

8) If you are playing with someone who is tanking a mob, sometimes its necessary to run up and give them a heal. If you run up to heal them, you are probably at a very close range. Now you can pull your pistol out to both run faster to get to themand to fight in a healing range.

9) You get Straffe shot2 and Fan Shot. Both of these are great special moves. Between both weapons you have an incredible assortment of weapon special moves that can dizzy, change position, bleed pools, kite, ranged kill shots, unhealable damage, hide, cover, sneak, hidden shots. You can use a variety of strategy to take careof about any combat situation you get into.

10) I can still heal without being a combat medic or such. Just get some good Stim Bs and they about refill my bar anyway.

11) I don't have any brawler skills what so ever. Losing a basic skill (like brawling) is lots of skill points to use on other things. If you throw out Entertainer you almost have enough for three lines in Pistoleer.

Oh yeah and other advantages to being a Pistoleer/Rifleman. I avoid some of the common dissatisfiers.

1) I don't carry any pets. My pets never warp. I don't have to worry about feeding them. I don't spend half the game telling pet come here, pet go away. I am free to come and go as I please. I never run back to get my pet stuck on a rock.

2) I don't spend endless time crafting medicine. I don't care about resources. All I need is find someone selling some Stim Bs and a weapon and I am good to go. I generally use my resources to help other guildies. Sometimes I make powerups, but I often by them

3) I can move fast holding a pistol. We spend so much time in this game running, having a weapon that I can run with is very nice. Since I don't use a ton of skill points I also have Exploration for terrain navigation. I am not the guy you want leading the group.

4) I have enough firepower. I don't get any missions that I can't do solo. I added some trapping and I can kite red creatures without much problems.

5) With no pets it is easier to be sneaky. Unlike those with a big gaul or beetle, I can be sneeky finding a good spot to snipe people. Being a rifleman is not about being gung ho in battle but being the silent assasain. In big battles most people aren't looking for me and don't realize I am the one that is just shredding peoples mind. No one is screaming, kill the CH!! After all if I am running I probably have my pistol in. I don't look lethal at all.

6) With more time spent fighting in game time I make money faster. This allows me to buy the things I need.I let the crafting be done by professionals. I am a marksman and a fighter.

Right now I'm rifleman/CH/doc. The only thing is it's not a good combo if you want to master anything since you don't have enough skill points.

It works really well though since I almost never get damaged with the pets tanking at a distance (the 2.5x melee damage is meaningless then). If I do get hit, doc skills can completely heal me in one stim or the pet in a few. You're also likely to max out the mind skills for rifleman anyway, so doc works well with that HAM distribution.
