Thread: Giant Dune Kimogilias How to Solo Them?

There is something not quite right with conceal shot I have to admit. For example on GDHs my conceal shot NEVER fails, (I have killed 30-40 so far solo using it) and it never cause a bleed either. On NS elders however they instantly detect me every time and I mean instantly, I don't even get the first 3 shots "for free" ( don't know if it's just me but I've noticedyou can pull off about 3 shots before a crit will start charging you)before they come charging in, friend of mine has the same I have with GDKs on the elders, it's all very odd. Also I have noticed that sometimes my specials inflict random state effects that they arn't normally supposed to (I've inflicted dizzy and stun with strafe shots a few times, and no I didn't use flurry or whatever by acident, know that for sure).

The tougher the creature the higher the chance to detect you. Try using conceal shot while under "cover" and report back to us on the results. The concealment bonus from "cover" ought to help alot. Also remember that some creatures have higher detection ranges so try and stay as close to the 64m cap as possible.

I ss2 him until he gets close, then I just whip out my LVL and start bashing him with pikeman skills.

To the original poster, I believe if you havea DOT on the weapon you are using, the creature will detect you once it incurs the poison/disease/etc. You probably knew this already, but just in case

I just confirmed this. Using cover with conceal shot allowed me to knock the GDK down half way without ever being detected. However, once I peaced to regen my mind (I'm zabrak and even with brandy a T21 is hard on my mind) and then restarted I was detected. I was then forced to use my poisons to finish it off. I am confident that a human with stat mitragrated mind of 1100 focus and willpower along with brandy could have soloed the GDK. If I had some BE enhanced ahrissa I might have accomplished this by myself but unfortunately I didn't have any at the time (damn the devs who cursed zabrak with a 500 focus cap).

Also try using something as paltry as a droid or CL10 pet with high kinetic resists and possibly even with a stun/intimidate attack on it to draw fire for about 10 seconds...with any luck either the stun/intimidate will stick and you'll have something working to your advantage.

These aren't Krayts (though they're supposedly related) - so getting in 10 extra seconds of uninterrupted and unmolested fire could easily shave a good portion of it's life away before it even gets in range of you.

Taking cover increases your ranged defenses - it is not useful unless the target you are attacking is using ranged attacks against you. It provides no benefit for conceal shot at the moment unfortunately. There has been talk and requests that taking cover add other modifiers such as those you are expecting, but nothing has been stated by the dev teams yet.

The devs introduced the "random bleed" which is what causes you to break conceal most often in order to make it harder to solo hard MOBs. You'll make it through an entire GDK one time with no bleed, and only get 1/10th of the way the next due to the random bleed - it's all a matter of luck at this point. There is no more or less likelihood of drawing a random bleed between MOBs, you just are more likely due to firing more shots to draw a random bleed on larger MOBs such as krayts and kimos.

The only way that conceal will break is if you are too close to a MOB when you start attacking, if you get a random bleed, stick any type of dot, or miss twice in a row. A tip for larger MOBs is to go to further than 64m beforeconceal shotting.Krayts and Kimosare so large that they will still be within range at about 70-75m usually, which will provide you more room for them to roam and will allow you time to get away if you draw their aggro.

not a good idea.... GDK's are 100% acid resist.

You shouldn't have any trouble soloing a GDK as a master rifleman. Rifleman is probably the second best profession to take them down (swordsman being #1), but they don't hit hard, only have 80K HAM, and the disease will not eat past your unbuffed stats.

I'm still up in the air on whether or not advanced strafe is quicker than mind shot 3. Need to do more testing.

Thanks for the tips. I fear we may not be able to do this much longer.
