Thread: still cant level rifl;eman worth a **edit**, please help
I disagree with the Group proponents.
I soloed most of the way to master. Groups generally tended to be slow, disorganized, and rob me of XP. I say "generally" because I did get into a couple of groups that knew what they were doing and kicked azz.
If you for some reason don't like to use pets (I mastered without pets), then you need Warning Shot from the Marksman tree I believe. I leveled master on Tatooine mostly killing the non-aggro MOBs. They may have changed since I mastered, but I made 20-30K XP per hour on average killing Greater Mutant Womp Rats, Rontos, Banthas, and my favorite: Mountain Squill. Now Mountain Squill are tough, and I may not have done them till a little higher in Rifle tree, I dont remember. They used to be in the hills outside Anchorhead.
If you want to solo without pets, You must have the following:
-- Novice Medic and lots of good Stim B's (well over 300 healing each)
-- A macro in your hotkeys that heals you quickly
-- A macro in your hotkeys that does the following:
- switches to your best pistol (to avoid the 2.5x melee penaltywhen MOBsget close)
- makes you stand up (since you normally start prone with rifle)
- fires a warning shot (or two or three)
-- A hotkey macro that switches back to your favorite rifle (after warning shot works)
With these macros, you can solo most any non-aggro animal easily:
-- Make sure you have your 'Combat' window in an easily viewable space on screen
-- go prone with highest damage rifle at 60+ meters
-- fire Mindshot2, Mindshot1
--Fire any shot that does immediate damage (to guarantee you'll get XP)
-- IF you have time and IF either MS2 or MS1 missed, fire it again
-- By this time the MOB is probably charging you
-- Fire warning shot or two if possible
If warning shot hasnt worked yet, when MOB hits 20-30m, hit your "Switch to Pistol" macro I described above. Fire warning shot with pistol until he runs. If it looks like he's going to run a fair distance, hit your "Switch back to rifle" macro and start shooting. Repeat these last few steps til you kill him or he bleeds to death.
VG....
There are some MOBs (Mountain Squill and some tougherDewbacks come to mind) that just refuse to play the Warning Shot game. Well, they don't refuse, but it often takes way too many before they cooperate. Those MOBs often will reach you. That is when the macros I mentioned come into play.

Probably why I never hunted any of those, then.
Hi
What level are the tattered tortons missions.
Thanks.

Not sure on level, but the credit rewards for them are 2800-2900.
Will get you a mission level in a day.
What rifle are you using? I would first start by getting the best damage-sliced laser rifle you can get your hands on. Buy max damage/mind power ups by the crate as well.
Get a T21 as well, sliced for speed at first. Power up both of the rifles.
Pick a target with 3-8k ham. go prone at 60-64m. Using the laser rifle Mindshot 1, mindshot 2, and peace. Get up and walk out to 80m or so, and wait for the first bleed tick. The target should start running towards you, or whatever is closest, by itself!
At this point you should be able to headshot once or twice with the t21 and finish the fight.
On a good round of bleeds you can do 3k damage on bleeds alone. Adding the1-4k damage from headshots with T21 and you can finish a 6k HAM critter before it gets to you. 2-3k xp right there.
Also buy food and drink that helps with focus and mind. It helps to be able to heal yourself as well.
You should be able to kill solo stormtroopers or Rebel equivalent, easily this way, at your level, using some judicious running away in places.
Naboo is very rifleman friendly.
Ravenous tortons are great if you have a tank since they are pack attackers. You can usually find them SW of Restuss on Rori consistently. They give out 4k-5k xp per kill, have no armor, and almost no resists to energy. With a good laser rifle, you can drop one very quickly. I did most of my low-level rifle leveling on these with a pair of GSPs tanking.
If you're focused on staying on Tatooine to level, bull rontos give pretty good xp, and Tusken Banthas are always good for 4k-5k xp per kill (just watch out for their masters). Jundland cu pas are also good, as they don't have high damage attacks, and have just enough HAM to get decent xp off them.
Seething Bol crushers on Dantooine are good for 4k-5k xp, but they pack attack, and will put the hurt on you if they close in. Pikets are also good, but they swarm like crazy.
If you're gutsy, get a good Jawa Ion rifle and go after grauls. They're slow enough that you can easily kite them, and they take the full damage from the stun attack of the JIR.
Then there's always Dathomir with baz nitches and Kamuriths, but you will need a tank for those. Currently, CH as a support skill is the quickest way to level rifleman solo. That's how I did it, then I dropped CH once conceal shot was fixed.
My advice: been working like a hot **edit** for me, getting something like 50k xp per hour, if not more.
Step 1:
Get Flurry shot. It takes 60000 combat xp (I think). To get faster combat xp, use the bleed/grenade of grenade lair tricks. To make this clear, just bleed something, let it bleed down to 1 life, then throw grenade. Make sure you don't hit it with anything other than grenades.
Optional Step:
Get Suppresion shot. It is a posture down attack, it makes guy kneel from standing or prone from kneeling.
Step 2:
Get a fast, decent rifle and big damage rifle. I recommend an e-11 witha speed slice. Mine is 97-209, 3.2 speed. A Dlt20a or maybe even a spraystick might work. For the big boy, I recommend a T-21 for its decent min damage and heavy AP.
Step 3:
Find a ground spawn of you NPC of choice; by that I mean there is no lair to produce MOBs. I have been using Escaped Nightsister Slaves on Dathomir. They have minor resists (5-15%), about 7-8k hams, and seem to be very lazy in the DB and BAFdepartments.
Step 4:
Now, first shot will be a flurry shot. Keep flurrying until target becomes dizzy, you will see a funny little logo to the left of their hams. Once they are dizzy, move away from them. You see, NPCs, as was pointed out by Aldeon, like to kneel or go prone to shoot at you. If they are dizzy and do this, they will be knocked down when they either stand up to chase you, or prone next time to shoot you. Doctor Buffs will help, but usually aren't necessary. Target selection is though, do NOT pick one that has 4 of his/her best friends within 10m. They don't seem to BAF at greater than 15m between each other. If you get a melee one, just hope it don't DB you. They seem to have both melee and ranged weapons, and usually they use ranged, for me.
Step 5:
Your target is now knocked down. Get your big gun, and spam flurry shot or auto-attack till itdies. I recommend flurry, because it keeps it dizzy, and you will be hitting random pools already (see step 4). I did 5k damage with flurry shot and a 520 max T-21. They die fast when they're on their backs
.
Step 6:
Get between 3-4k xp per kill. I was killing them in about 30-60 seconds, sometimes less. The Slaves tend to spawn like rabbits, so just hope you have a lot of time to waste getting xp. You might even get decent loot from a tough enough MOB.
Author's note: I was buffed while doing this, and my HAMs didn't move unless I shot a special or was hit in the mind pool. I got pretty close to 50k, maybe more, xp in an hour.
Hope this helps ![]()
