Ack,

Interesting test. Based on what you show it may indicate that different MOB's have some kind of detection value maybe. I'll have to do some testing myself and see what I can find out.

I'm still working the rifleman tree, so not master. I do have conceal shot and master ranger. If I camo/conceal...take cover and then fire away with conceal shot, I am hardly ever agro'd. Last night I was prone and took out 3 spawns of 4 rancors without ever having to move. Ranger + Rifle = HAPPY!!

I've been a master for a very long time, I have not absoulutely checked this but I am pretty sure mask scent/camo has no effect at all on detection during combat. at master you should be able to pull off6 to 8 shots before detection and nothing will change that. You may conceal shot forever so long as you dont miss, and mask scent wont help that.

Mask scent does not help, but Camo does, I've gone both ways and I assur you that Camo helps greatly.

actually it appears much more then 8 shots was possible without cameo and without mask scent (no points for scout here) I will be testing this on some different spawns later this coming week.

suggestions to test on?

rancor?

falumpaset?

Fambaa?

krayt - will not work cause they will detect eventually no matter what.

snorbal?

graul?

I don't agree with that. I'm a 4243 Ranger and currently I'm hunting Mawgaxes on Yavin 4. My method is to use mask scent and /concealshot (not bothering with cammo's). I never get aggro'd. The only time I do get aggro'd is when I fail to notice my scent mask has expired and I continue conceal shooting, then eventually I get spotted and aggro'd.

I'd much prefare an alternative way to hide my presence then I could use /headshot3. Concentrating on a single pool would really save me time!

what we were testing in this thread was not conceal Shot Dave. The testing we were doing was with head shot... how often you can shot unconcealed but prone at range. At range without concealment I was regularly Hitting forup to 15times without aggro at ranges greater then 55m.

As you are a ranger I ask that you help out the testing

Current Protocol: CDEF Rifle (generic not uber), Prone, Range 55+m , Head shot 1, Pick a high ham target (use you camo ) and spam away - lets see if you can hit the 20-30 mark with camo on using headshot 1 on one target without aggro

as for eventually getting spotted with conceal shot- if you miss more then a few times or if you lay a bleed (random event using conceal shot - possibly related to the wound chance on the weapon) Conceal will break and it will not matter if you are Masked or Camo'd the creature will notice you . BTW: isn't mask scent supposed to break when you enter combat? or is that broken as well?

More Lokian Testing ^_^

Switched to T-21 for mynocks and dxr6 high ham creature targets

I switched to a t-21 and dxr-6 after I could not make significant dents into these creatures with the CDEF rifle. I tried 10 times per type of creature I was able to consistently getbetween 13-18hits on all of them and then they would aggro with no real damage done to them. draw your own conclusions on that.

also in almost every test when they did aggro on me - it was after they moved out of range and then back into range again - when this happened I would get 2-3 shots off and then they would detect me at any range up to 64m - usually them moving out of range was more related to me firing at extreme max range - if they were within 62m they did not wander out as often.... (this is actually predicable if I had thought of it) I did not keep track in my last test.

detection of my position still occured at about the same frequency as before - if within 54m detection frequency rose sharply,

h= hit, m= miss, ad= after detection, r= range at start of combatMOR= moved out of range
