3k a pop? what were you guys using, a stupid ol' T-21? With a good laser, Ihit 5k consistently, and have seen 8k pop up once or twice...

I play the game as a casual gamer...only I spend about 30 hours a week in game. So I have had a long trip, that still isn't over, mastering rifleman. My only complaints would be that the grind is hard until you get your combat xp up to a new plateau. When I hit lvl 2 I was flying compared to 1 and that just seems somewhat wrong to me. While true speed increases should be hard to get...that is the easiest tree to get if you are converting and impossible to get if you are just starting out for combat. I don't really see a way around it but that is really the only problem with the trip to master. I can't wait to get up there and "pwnzorz 4ll j00 newbs!!!!!one!!one!!!" but until I get more and more combat xp that trip is a bit long. Thank goodness it comes no matter how I kill schtuff.

Not commenting on the load killing...

However, I would agree that there should be a slightly higher spread. It's as clear as night and day difference between master and even 4/1/4/4.. The longest it even takes me spam any shot is 2 seconds, and at close to 5k of damage I can live with that.I think I've missed something 5 times since I got master. I don't even have to kneel go prone to get good hits anymore. Used to be able to tell the difference between standing and prone.. but not anymore.

The problem is most people want instead gratification when taking on any profession. Such as getting eye-shot right away as a BH or stopping shot as a pistoleer. People don't like that you actually have to master rifleman in order to be good at it. (Personally think all professions should be this way.) Not go up two trees and be as powerful as a master. However, with such a drastic difference it's hard for a novice to see a rifleman's true power until they're master.

I personally think Rifleman is perfect just the way it is. It is a tough grind to master. But once there, there is no pain. For me it was a real painful going until I got FS2. Unfortunately I did not take the advice and went for HS3 first. Big mistake! Grinding out combat XP for the Rifle Support line was another tough task. Some of my friends complaied about 40K combat needed to get into BH or Commando.I laugh at them. Try 400K combat for the Rifle support line. But I think speed bonuses should stay right there. It should be hard to get them. And the power jump at master is also proper. Far too many professions give you little more than a title when you get to master. In my mind Rifleman is probably the only well tought out progression for any of the elite combat professions.

Well, some of you must have never dueled me when I was in my PvP prime. The only time I lost was if I missed a shot, which was rare since my carbine accuracy was 145....with a speed of 110. I suprised so many people... at the level I was at the only challenge was to get the first shot off. Mind shots against me did nothing, with armor on, even if they did get 1 or 2 shots off. a/w I am not bashing rifleman, just think there are stronger classes out there.

i def agree,, which is y i think the speed bonuses should be more spread out,, if i had half the speed and accuracy i do now at master, at lets say 2-2-2-2,, the grind wouldnt be nearly as bad as it is now, and you would see many more riflemen ...

man Im 2,1,0,3 in rifleman and I own EVERYTHING I come across (it took me 1.5 months to learn to fight with a rifle and believe me Im STILL learning) I cant imagine what it must be like at master. No I don't use pets, they actually slow me down. A good rifleman is a terror... a master rifleman... Ahh I've been one shoted by a few, they are tough fella's. I love rifleman. I've been a pistoleer and its good for fast hard hack and slash (so to speak) never been a carbineer but the seem pretty cool as well. but I surrendered a rancor for rifleman because I was more dangerous with good rifle skills and no pet than I was with a full grown rancor and low rifle skills... To all the master rifles out there, keep up the good work, I hope to be among you eventually

i find it amazing that you can own anything even at 2-1-0-3 rifle, because i know i definitely couldn't, at least not without a pet. I first realized just how good master rifleman was when i started using strafe2 on packs of fambaas and dropped 3 of them in no time, doing 3k area of effect on all. Before that one skill box i was nothing but a self-incapper with a large gun.

Really????? Im sorry to hear that. The road to master must have been VERY hard for you. Let me throw a couple of tems out there that might help clear things up.

ok. That being said, you may have thought that I meant I also own im PvP. Not so in PvP a bald wookie armed with nothing but a rash could kill me in about 1sec. Im awful at PvP. So what I excel in PvM, Maybe when I hit master Ill be able to kill that horrible rash laden wookie, but not now hehe

I agree to that there needs to be more balance in the tree. For me, the rifle seemed awful. I climbed the tree a little different that what I will suggest of climbing 2,0,3,3 first. With the shots and skills at this level you will start to enjoy and reap to benefits of the rifle. Before then, there is not much there. After then, there is alot there.

Once again, what is my suggestion for balancing rifle?

First, give a little more to the lower levels of the rifle. Still want master to be better? So do I. Here is one possibility. Make his shots cost his mind only .75 or .85 of what it costs normally. He is experienced so he should not stress as bad on his shots (only logical way I can think of why mindpool drians when you shoot).

Devs clearly do not play their creations and are utter clueless as to the results of their nerfs. They seem to be in love with their ideas and ignore the results.

Wow, I'm only 1-1-2-1, and I feel I can basically handle anything reasonable. I suck, really really suck at PVP. But at PVE, I can solo level 39 missions with concel shot (and some ..bleep.. on another thread is trying to get that nerfed, bast....ah). I don't really use pets, except to group them and leave them in my house so I can get the high level missions and grouping xp. I look forward to master, the speed increase and accuracy should be awesome. But I don't feel deprived right now, since the last patch. As long as they don't go nerfing us again.

The 2.5 melee kills me too fast, but I don't get warped on too much anymore, and my mount helps me keep away from that melee damage sometimes. But when they catch me, I am forced to use the pistol to avoid the cloning station. I guess when I get master and look back, I will probably think "how did I ever get by", but right now I'm fairly confident using my T-21 for high dmg, and my laser for assult/fast fighting.

While I was grinding (mastered about 16 days ago) it was a hard slow road until flushing II, then it got better. Heard on the boards many a master saying "dont complain about the 2.5x multiplier because if they fix this they will nerf us" and now I understand. They balance us with a slow grind and a huge multiplier, if they adjust either of these we will get nerfed. BH is getting there very powerfull rifeman killing eyeshot pulled from where it is on there tree and moved to the master box for a reason. They should not increase the power of low level rifeman, all that would do is tick off the other classes until the truly nerfed us. That 3 sec speed cap is hanging over our heads currently, they may never drop that on us but if they do itmay be do to those who scream. Truly, lets leave the class alone, we are all set and balanced the way we are. Once they sit downto reveiw and open our code to adjust how the tree is or to adjust the melee multiplier you will then see things like that 3 second cap dropped on us as well.

That carbaneer guy is right, we are weak and carbine and pistol own. But regardless of how weak we are in comparison to those other classes I am happy just the wayweare now and feel we should be left alone. And let me restate this for any DEV that may be reading this and to help the existing rifleman understand better. We are a way under powerd class that is taken out by novice brawlers and noobs with dropped cdef pistols. But we lack the intellegence to drop this rediculasly hard life for the easier ones and are perverse in the fact that we like it this way and wish to be left completly alone.

Thank you.

hehe, Maybe rifleman is more for the PvM person? I love being a rifleman. It took me quite a while to learn how to fight with a rifle, but I gave up master CH because I just stopped using my pets, fighting without them was just funner.

I too fear the 3 second cap.
