I am a CH as well as *almost* a Master Rifleman. I planned to Master CH so it won't effect me that much. I actually enjoy the company of my GSPs, Frek and Daedalus. I have better and higher level pets, but I like them the most. It's almost like they have personalities in combat. Frek is stand and delivier. Daedalus is more of a kite fighter (very frustrating when the target runs farther then 64m).

Sure, I can pull out my Voritor lizard, Huurton Howler, or Mutant Biz Natch but nothing beats my GSPs.

As for upping mission levels. They actually pull down my max level so I don't group when I am selecting a mission.

I also snipe any NPCs that have strayed from the group before I send in a pet. My pets are for mass combat and that is about it until I get Strafe shot 2. After I get it, they will just be travelling companions.

I am 2,1,3,2 and currently hunt reds on Dant for about 4.5k xp per kill. I never use a pet (except a droid that I have stay at the main area for grouping xp purposeses). I use concel shot as my main, and can deal with most things if I am careful.

I have tried sending my rock beetle in to attack a camp recently, and use flushing2, we both got incaped (poor guy, I had to scrap him off the side of the mound afterwards, he only has one leg left now, andis missing an eye :smileyvery-happy. I don't think I'm ever gonna really need or use a pet. If I do for some reason, I go overt and use my faction pets, level 20s. I agree with most others (for the first time in my life) I don't really see why a riffleman needs pets a whole bunch, except for mounts.

The issue isn't does a rifleman need a pet(they don't) but do they want one. If they do great, have fun, if they don't great, have fun. Any way you play your character should be fun and fulfilling for you. So many of these threads turn into the pets vs. no pets discussions. I originaly took some CH to try out a different strategy thengetting incapped and praying that the bleed kills them before they walk up to me. Turns out I really liked going into the backwoods and searching for new pets, so I am almostMaster CH.When I got the game, I wanted to be asniper when I chose rifleman( way back in week one before we knew what we were getting into) and after I made master I like so many others say forget sniping, give me mymachine gun.Point being, play your character and let other's play theirs, and may the scwartz be with you.

There are only 2 pets I have used in this game since launch. One is a Humaba that was one of the first pets my CH master friend got me, and that is just for better missions and group bonus, the second is Shriner...my mount (and I do wear a fez while riding ). I honestly don't see the point in using a pet. If you can't kill the thing alone then why are you out solo'ing stuff? Use tactics or run like hell but if the creature is gonna kill you 5 times out of 10 then get some friends to head out with you.

The reason that it has taken me this long to get to where I am, even though I play like 30 hours a week, is because I simply enjoy playing the game and talking with friends. When we go to Endor...well Dath now, we spend more time camping and BS'ing then we do killing stuff and to me that is how the game should be played. Now if you want to get a metal chicken and some kitties in order to kill that Krayt then more power to you but, why?

i dont need one to take on anything in the game. do you use armour/stims/stat increasing drugs/sliced weapons??? i could go on but the same thing applies to those as to using pets. all are force multipliers. a pet is no different than drugging up and using armour or powerups and weapon slices.

i enjoy using my pets probably as much as you enjoy using your friends to distract the monsters while you fight

this doesnt mean either of us is bad at using rifles its just that i pack my friends around in a data pad and they are always happy to "take one for the team"... heh

my PC friends like my pets and we hunt with and without them.
