Thread: If you want a Macro for Rifleman, Go to the Jedi boards.

My biggest problem with AFKing isn't the XP aspect. It's when the AFKers use macros to gather loot when they go to bed. That is taking kills from everyone ranging from n00bs to high-level players. If someone decides to go AFK for XP- that's fine with me as long as they are willing to deal with getting an Enhanced Kwi dragged up to them resulting a DB(for the Geo cave AFKers ). When they use it to get crystals and junk, then it's really bad

OK I'll add it up for you-

Riflemen do not want to teach you how to AFK macro their profession + Jedi are Holocron grinders some of whom have come up with macros on how to grind through combat professions = Go to the Jedi Boards to get the Macro becuase you risk insult here.

BTW1- yes I am bigoted against j3d-3y3 but that was not the point of the post since I keep my bigoted anti j3d-3y3 feelings on the GCW forums(rarely I flame the jedi forums, unless they talk anti BH crap inwhich I join with the BH'ers in flaming..... Oh and also that post where Q-3PO says jedi will be rare, yes I flame that too)

BTW2- If you are a Hologrinder and never have AFK macro'ed a Combat profession I have respect for your effort regaurding the Combat Profession you hologrinded.

Im a rifleman please dont speak for me. I do not think there is anything wrong with it. I do not holo grind but this whole grind xp is a pain. If you use the in game features to do it then I think it is fine. I work long hours and it is tough for me to grind and grind everytime I want to try a new profession. It is simply a time sink. Other professions help holo grinders. Why is such a problem here?

If u want a macro, PM me, Ill help ya. I know what its like not to have time to play because of responsibilities like, kids, wife, work, and house hold duties. I got sick of getting owned because I couldnt play 24/7 like most people I see. There is nothing wrong with a macro, u pay your fee, u bought the game, and play your character how u see fit. why do u worry about what people do, I see already masters just macroing to get loot, now thats messed up, but is it any of my business? No its not. So go and play your game and have fun, keep your own opinions to yourself unless you have something constructive to say. Remember, this is only a game, its not gonna be out your whole life and its not your life, GAME!!!! Thats all it is. Have fun, peace out.

Hehe, I'll throw my bit of love in here. I hate seeing jedis in this game - it's not the jedi's fault per-say, but they're the visual part of the problem that I see. I hate the fact that the devs made unlocking your FSC a "grind" that caused the economy they worked so hard to design andthe game interaction and systems they worked so hard to design go so far downward and get so far away due to all the folks wanting to play Luke Skywalker. I hate it even more that post jedi-revamp I'm going to have to make my characters be FS in order to even be competitive at what they do (a chef and an all-out PVP toon) and furthermore I'm going to have to try to "grind" through a million quests in order to become a jedi if I wish to compete at the highest level of PVP in the game. So call it Jedi-hate, dev/designer-hate or whatever you like, but I kill jedis to take out my frustrations at what I see as a game with a ton of potential going in the wrong direction.

Oh, and AFK grinding sucks regardless of your purpose.

Macro grinding any combat proffesion in this game is tantamount to cheating IMO.

Macro grinders cheapen the value of the Master badge, go earn it.

Excellent, this guy has walked a day in my shoes.. BTW if we are talking about earning it then i must be double worthy as I am almost done grinding it a second time. Cheating?.....LOL

All I'm saying is that if you AFK macro'ed through any combat profession you have not earned your master title, debate that how you like.

When my macro is running Im there, just not there... know what I mean. Im either changing dypers, taking out the trash, fixing food for my little ones, writing my training schedule for work, or just spending some time with my kids. I have used a macro, but as u can see i mastered BH, which is impossible to macro. I mastered pistoleer, carbineer, rifleman, CM, fencer, swordsman, pikeman, commando, medic, scout, ranger, artisan, marksman, doctor, and SL. I play 2 hours at night when my kids are sleeping, I usually got around 400-500k exp in that time. I did earn my professions. All Im saying is when my kids or wife needed me i would set my macro and go take care of business. I dont know why Im actually justifying this but there ya go. And no, Iim not a holo grinder, I have 5 toons with the listed professions above with the exception of artisan, swordsman, cm, medic, and doc because I dropped them. My fencer/doc and my carbineer/ranger is not listed on my sig.

honor? rifleman? rifleman lost its honor once it became the FOTM.

----

You say that like we had a choice? lol

As for the EULA.. the in game holocron thing asks several questions, one of which is "is AFK-Macroing using in game macro features okay" itsimply says "yes" as the answer. So SOE needs to get their act together and decide which way they are gonna go. As far as I can tell now, the only type of macroing they are against is 3rd party software macros.

Can I see where some of us who grinded though professions the hard way would consider AFK grinding cheap? yep

Can I see where Mr dad who has little time wants to get his profession done so he can enjoy the game when he plays w/o having to grind? yep

Can I see those who have grinded until now use macros to finsish their last profs to unlock before the freeze patch? yep

Can i see l337 wannabe "I pwned j00!" powergrinder AFK macroing though countless professions in no time flat to get his Jedi and pwn everything in sight? Nope, LAME.

Its all in how you wanna look at it. Some ppl will be for it, some against. We all pay to play, and there will always be someone who will do anything to get ahead... we just gotta learn to deal with it

Here is something you need to consider. If it was the intent of the design of the game for people to acquire professions at will (i.e., without working for the XP), then they would have no XP system, and gaining new masteries would simply be a matter of reallocating your limited skill points similar to the way you allocate HAM stats. If XP was not intended to be earned in order to advance, then how come I lost 298,000 two handed XP last night when I swung a 2H Weapon for the first time since dropping Master Swordsman?

Also, while SOE has apparently decided they will not enforce it, AFK macroing is against the EULA.It specifically saysyou"may not use or distribute macros or other programs which would allow unattended game play."

And besides, how does someone else getting XP that they did not earn not affect other people's game play? Take two people. They each spend exactly the same amount of time at the keyboard as the other. They both work on the same profession (rifleman), and they both go out to hunt. One does AFK macro grinding and one does not, sothe latteris a 2 1 2 1 rifleman, and the other is a Master. What is going to happen when they run into each other and start shooting at the same MOB? Who is going to cause the most damage and, therefore, going to getthe most XP (XP, by the way, he no longer needs) and who is going to get whatever loot is on the kill? And the situation gets even worse if they are firing at multiple Mobs since the AFK-grinder has his choice of several AoE shots, and the non-grinder does not. Or what happens when those two meet on opposite sides in PvP? Is his AFK-grinding not affecting the other's game play as the latter wakes up in the cloning center time and time again? Even when facing other Masters, the AFK-grinder gets an advantage that he does not deserve because now he gets to share equally in loots because he can compete with someone he otherwise would not be able to.

So while you may not care because you gain something from it, the game design clearly intends for you to earn the XP, the EULA prohibits it (though SOE has buckled on enforcement), and it clearly does adversely affect other people. So whether you can get busted for it or not, and no matter how many people choose to do it, it is cheating because it gives you an unfair advantage over those who play the game as intended.

totally agree with your post here. Jedi should NEVER have been allowed into this game, when the rumors began that jedi could be attainable in the game is the day the economies of most servers went right into the tank. Jedi revamp before combat revamp, lol SOE sure has its priorities together...... they want all of us to be jedi, unfortunately, hence this stupid quest based Force sensitive abilites that you are going to have to obtain if you want to compete for loot or business.....

the good thing about it all is JTL, groundpounding is crap so my time if i continue to play after everyone is a jedi is that ill be in space blowing their ships out from under them.
