Thread: Eyeshot Post by a BH
Geeze. I posted the answer to a couple of your questions several times, but they get lost in a sea of replies. Here's this again, and for the other information, scroll up, because I'm not copy/ pasting a post more than once.
I got the numbers I used from my own combat window. Neither of us had buffs of any kind.
This isn't that big of a surprise to me, either. With only the marksman tree rifle skills I can do that kind of damage without even using higher certs.
Now, what we were fighting could make a difference in the actual numbers, but you'd see the same thing if a BH and rifleman did this study against anything, with the numbers appropriately lowered or raised according to the mobs' level or armor. The study would come out different if the mob had protection afgainst the rifleman's weapon, but not the BH.
We fought the giant decay mites for the PvE data in the south western corner of Talus. I suppose that could impact the findings. The mites had no armor against either of our weapons. In PvP neither of us used armor. Neither of us used any kind of spice or buff or anything that may affect the findings. Neither of us had a powerup on our weapons.
This is data from a straight up contest of damage with no external modifiers. Granted, if you used spice, fought something with the appropriate armor, sliced your weapon, put powerups on it, etc, you would have different results.
The fact is, when he pulled, the mobs didn't even see him. They just died. When I pulled, I got beat up. So yeah, in PvE the HAM costs make a difference, but the rifleman took less damage from the mob, so again, it's balanced.
Let me make an analogy, as I seem to be getting better with those. Everyone seemed to like me SOE nerf analogy, anyway ![]()
When I am driving my car, I tend to be concerned about gas mileage. I reset my tripmeter everytime I fill the tank up, and I divide the miles I went by how much gas I had to put into my car. That gives memy averagemiles per gallon for the tank. Because I take this measurement everytime I fill the tank up, I get a good estimation of what my real gas mileage is over the course of time.
But, what if I never knew what my gas mileage was and decided for the first time, that I was going to test this out. So, I fill my gas tank up on Thursday. Friday evening I decide I want to take my car to the drag stip and pull off a couple of 18 second quarter miles, just because it's fun. Let's say I make 4 runs at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). Then I leave the track, and I run around town like normal, never really goosing the gas, but not driving like a grandma either. Wednesday my fuel light comes on, so I pull into a gas station and fill the car up. I do the math and I come out with 14 mpg!!
That's horrible! You mean to tell me that I get 14mpg just running around town?? Man, time to pull the 5.0L V8 out of this Grand Marquis and drop in a 2.0L 4 banger! I need better gas mileage!
Well, you put the motor swap on hold after ranting and raving at the guy who sold you the car, just to see what's going on. I continue driving my car like normal for the remainder of the week and it's time to fill 'er up again. This time I get 18mpg. **edit**??? What happened? Last week I got 14mpg and now I'm getting 18mpg? Needless to say I'm happy, but this must mean I got a bad tank of gas last week! Time to go complain to the Chevron manager and try to get my $27 back for that tank!
But of course, they don't know what I'm talking about and balk at my suggestion of legal action. So I continue my daily routine. Now, every tank I get a different mpg, sometimes 17.5mpg, sometimes as high as 19mpg (city)
So what's going on? What AM I getting for mpg? WHICH NUMBER IS CORRECT??
Well the answer is that they are all correct, and that there are so many variables to take into account, that just one test will give you no difinitive answers. I take it you are not a scientist. I assume you do not remember your biology or chemistry classes (if you are old enough) and the scientific method that was presented there. The reason I mention this is that you did not account for any of the relevantvariables when making your judgement. You did not say how he was attacking his mobs. You did not mention anything of any relevance but the end result. I am NOT saying that you did not make these measurements, or that you don't know how, but if you are going to go out and get some real numbers, we need to know every variable involved.
Was he only using head shot? Was he bleeding the target? Were you bleeding the target? What weapon was he using? Did you ask him? Was it sliced? If so, how was it sliced, and what %? Does it have a powerup on it? If so, what kind?
You know, what would help ALL of us the most is if a rifleman repeated the test and reported their results, trusting they don't cheat by testing against a mob that resists the rifleman's weapon, but not the bounty hunters, etc.
If you do a pure test of damage with no external influences on the damage, such as spice, armor, resistance, sliced weapon, etc, you'll have the same findings as me.
Many people are looking at me numbers saying "No way!" Well, there's a bounty hunter (me) who has done this, maybe if a trustworthy rifleman did it, we could get over the idiotic (sorry but it is) argument that it's not true, and move on to something worth our time.
Can we agree on that, at least? If so, say so, and I'll post another thread with the exact steps I took, and how I made sure no external influences changed the data. That is, it should be a pure test of damage.
Just give the word, and I will make the new thread.
you keep saying that BH have no defensive skills, whooptiedoo you also don't have a 2.5x damage multiplier to which the melee defense we get as we move up the tree does effectivly nothing. Rifleman should be better mind damage dealers than BH, period. It is the entire reason for our profession, take it away and we might as well change our title to "martyr"
I appreciate your trying to come to the rifleman board to understand this but the fact is eyeshot is way out of balance in respect to headshot 3. It just is. If they made headshot 3 ultra powerful like it used to be before they nerfed the T21 then I would think differently about mind healing but as soon as they implement mind heals one BH and one doctor will be able to kill 10-15 rifleman no problem. That should not happen and it is very depressing to think about
Social, me and my buddy did this on the giant dust mites in the cave in southwest Talus, but all that really matter is that both are hitting the same mobs, and that the mob doesn't have any resistance to either weapon. Well, as far as the mob goes 8)
I am sooo glad at least ONE rifleman is willing to actually go out and get data. Serious kudos to you Social 8)
