My freind told me get Flushing Shot 2 and I can area attack Anglers and kill a ton of them for exp. I got it today and Iam not area attacking anything, or at least they arent taking any damage. Same for the other attacks, whats going wrong?

iam pretty new to riflemen

I got 2 1 3 4, Is there something Iam doing wrong? Do I need to be far away? Do i need to be in a certain position? Whats going on here?

Area attacks will only damage targets that you are currently in combat with. So if you are shooting at a group of Quenkars for example and have one targeted. You will hit that one with some damage and the others will not take damage until they aggro you.. Once they are all in combat with you or your pet, you will damage everything in the Area Of Effect..

The mob I target takes some damage, nothing big, but the rest just keep attacking away not getting damaged

Are they grouped around you? or are they grouped around a pet / tank away from you?

The Area of Effect is a directionalcone ranging out from where you stand.. The cone area is very small where you stand but spreads out wider as you get to the 64m range.

Try shooting the lair... that will get a bunch of them in your cone as they try to repair it... aside from that.. try running away from them.. so you can get them in your cone.

I think Onichi has the problem nailed. Ranged area attacks are not like melee, they do not attack 360 degrees at point blank. The cone is probably 45-90 degrees in front of you.

i remember my days as commando i was able to waste whats infront of me in a cone, but like i said everything infront of me is not being damaged only the target is

This may sound like a stupid question but you are definitley using /FlushingShot2 aren't you? out of the the three attacks in the subject that is the only one that is an Area Attack

You know, I've seen these area attack questions before, and I have seen this answer before, and thought, yeah, that makes sense.

But that is not the case. I thinkmultiple targetshots are just a bit buggy. They do some weird stuff and I don't know what makes them tick. I know you don't have to be aggro though and I think most can agree. I've used area shots on Stormtroopers and had some non-aggro animal from a nearbye lair come after me cause the strafe hit it too. I have seen them come and attack the Stormies too, heh, cause they use area attacks. I've used area attacks on an AT-ST and had it hit a bugged NPC rebel commando that was targetable to me. Of course anyone that has done this knows it gives you a reverse faction TEF, after this the NPC rebel and turrets open fire on you, heh.

Soan area shot should hit anything within a certain range of the target that is targetable by you. If it is not doing so I would have to assume there is some bug. Personally I can't say I've had much problem with it and enjoy how things like tochase you closely packed together.
