Thread: Combat Revamp Need Volunteer Rifleman Testers

As Thunderheart has posted here Summit in Austin .
I'm going to need some volunteers to test the combat revamp. This is going to require a lot of testing of both PvP and PvE. That also means it is going to require a lot of time by those that volunteer to do so.
I do not yet have any specifics of when this will happen or for how long it will go on. However if you are interested then send me a PM with a heading of 'Rifleman Volunteer'. It will be easier for me to keep track of them that way. 
Please remember this is going to be for intense testing purposes. Not for just playing. I'm going to be looking for both PvP and PvE preferences. If interested PM with the following information.
- Forum name. So I know who you are.
- Station name. The name you sign on to when you launch the game. **DO NOT SEND PASSWORD** . The reason for this is so we can give you access to thespecial server.
- Why you would like to participate and what you believe you can contribute.
- PvP or PvE. Which aspect you prefer to test if any.
- Guesstimate of how much time you will be able to spend testing. To not include time you will be spending on the regular servers. Just how much you think you could spend on the special server to test. Hours/day and hours/week format preferred.
Sorry I don't have any more details for 'ya yet. But I'll let you know what I can when I can.
Please remember that this is going to take a lot of dedication and time. It will also likely be frustrating at times as bugs and imbalances are uncovered for those that aren't use to doing a lot of testing. Just something to keep in mind. Not trying to scare anyone off. But want to give you an idea of what to expect.

Can I ask when this will happen Waste? I'm interested, but as I will be going on holiday soon, I don't want to waste your time.

According thunderheart, the sandbox will open shortly after the summit..or thats what I gatherred

Wish I could tell 'ya. But there has been no date posted for suggested for this yet. As was already stated the only date I know is 'soon' and 'after the summit'.

I should have listed a cut off date. That will be Saturday Aug 21, 2004.
I will also be making a list of alternates. As we don't know yet when this will be, there is a possibility some wouldn't be able to participate on the given date, whenever we get that.
I suspect a date won't be chosen until after the summit. But as soon as I know and can tell you I will. I want to give you as much advance warning as possible.

You should have folks that do software for a living, or know how to test, not just ordinary gamers. You can get a lot of useless noise in beta testing when the testors don't know how to accuratly convey a problem and can't isolate out the trivial. I also have a feeling that they want to limit this so that the griefage disaster that is TC2 does not happen again.
Just so you know: I have already been asked to go in as a Ranger rep.

I wouldn't mind helping you out, but I can only play an average of 2.5 hours a day six days a week. Somebody with more time available should probably take the slots. However, if you are in need, let me know.. been rifleman heading towards a year....

I can test, avrage 6h-10h a day.
