Thread: PVE template help...

I need PVE template advice, and I really don't know which forum to put this in (as there are a few profs I am considering) so I am putting it here. Anyway, I am currently a Master Rifleman, Master Creature Handler, Pistoleer xx44, with the rest in FS stuff. My only real requisite is that I want to keep Master Rifle.

Now that I have been Master rifles for a while, I really don't use my pets that much, so I feel the points are not worth it. Also, getting another combat profession instead of CH will allow me to get more FSXP per buff.

My current template is pretty good, but I would like to improve it for PVE. For example, last night I soloed a NS Spellweaver using my pet as a tank and a striker pistol, but it took a while and a lot of pet stims. I doubt I could keep my pet alive and solo an elder using a striker pistol.

So, here are some templates I considered, just based on attack types and the threads I have read:

1) Master Rifle, Master Swords (as swords have Kinetic and Blast, which rifles lack), Master Brawler (to improve 2H speed and for the attacks), and the rest in FS stuff. Does this sound like a template that can solo elders and Krayts, or do I need to get the defenses from Fencer or Pistoleer instead of going master brawler to do so.

2) Master Rifles, some Pistoleer and some BH so I can get a pistol that does blast damage and also improved pistol speed.

Input would be greatly appreciated.

Rileman/Ranger: It takes skillful tactics to play correctly, but when done so, it IS the BEST PvE template in the game. PERIOD.

Rifleman Ranger

you will be using your area track to find those elusive rare spawns (krayts etc)

when you get near them you do not have the melee defence lots have nor do you have the healing capabilities many have so you will learn to use terrain to your advantage as standing still will get you killed

you also have camoflages and mask scent that makes you almost invisible in pve (be aware these can break) which allows you to get into advantageous positions

traps - not that effective but when they do work you can control how the creature reacts (ie: slower run, worse to hit odds etc) so laying them on creatures is an art in what order you use them and if they are useful (you need to learn when they willl and when they won't work)

Kiting/camo will dictate much of your tactics. ^_^

(hopefully i represented the rangers well enough - never been one)

I actually wasa Ranger/Rifleman. I am looking for something that will complement the rifles attacks - I am going for Swords now. The only question is where to spendthe remaining points, I may keep novice CH.

Im currently master rifles/swords with nov medic /2/2/4/0 and nov scout 1/0/3/0 ( so I can harvest for $)

this is great for PvE I can solo a crayt fine, but havent tried a NS elder.

PvP as long as the other player isnt stacked I can beat them. Ive beaten just a TKA by dizzing, headhit3 x 3 then dizy again.

as soon as you add fencer, I cant get a hit in at all. we sat there for 4 minutes trading hits. I went down slowly, but even with my 780max(nonpuped) hammer I only landed 1 hit.....

I can't really recommend Rifleman/Ranger except to those extraordinarily patient individuals. It takes an enormous amount of time to gain any grasp of, and most people justloose patience. Three months after I got that template I'm still learning new tricks... There's mastering a profession, and then there's Mastering a profession -- and, in my opinion, Ranger ranks up there just below crafters, lol.

One thing about it: you'll use all your tools, which makes it a lot of fun. And once you get over the learning curve, it pwns.

However, if you don't want to devote so much time really digging into the profession, I'd recommend Swordsman. Also, IMO, 0040 medic is minimal for soloing high-level content. Another one that I found extremely fun with CM/Rifleman.

Oh, and don't even try the launcher pistol for blast damage; that thing has ap0 and will just be marginally better than a Striker Pistol. If all you want to do is be a PvE loot whore, I'd recommend swordsman/doc, and speedcapping two-handed asap.

I know you want to keep Rifles, but I just think that the blast damage Swords has is a must -- so I'd center around that for NS hunting. /shrug

Thanks a lot, that is very helpful.

Well, I am now Swords x424 and counting. Once I master swords I will tweak the template further. I may keep novice CH if I can, as I got a level 1 pet from a friend that is pretty cool - and I anticipate he will be very helpful for higher end stuff.
