This is not a rifle-specific question (in fact, it has to do with a Vibro Lance I looted), but since I spend 98% of my time in the Rifleman and Smuggler forums, I'll ask it here.
I looted a Vibro Lance the other night that has a poison DOT, but the uses (number of applications?) is a -1 (negative one). Does that mean "unlimited" or is it useless? Also, anyone happen to know if a 250 max damage Vibro Lance is weak, average, or good?

-1 usages mean that it has unlimited charges ^_^ hope that helps! (IT'S A GOOD THING!)

As a former pikeman....
Uses = -1 is the best you can get. As far as I know, it is UNLIMITED uses
Potency = the higher the number, the more it will stick, so you would think 100% would be the highest. I've seen 300% or something potency on legendary weapons, but I don't know how that works. How can something stick more than every time it hits?
Strength = Usually anything about 200 is good, so 250 is very good.I have a mind fire rifle, and a mind poison rifle, which is one of the reasons I went Rifleman. They aren't THAT good, but are a big bonus when PVPing
As a tip, try to find stuff that will complement your prof. Obviously mind weapons are great for PVP, but keep in mind action dots for pikeman. Since Pikes bleed the action bar, action poison and action fire weapons are really good for PVE Pike.

Hey Kez!
Always nice to see you here in the forums (and in-game too!).
Thanks for the info!
Are you still grinding in the Geo cave? How is it? Too crowded? Perfect? Let me know... I've hesitated making the trip since it's so darn far from the village! I am generally hanging out on Dath ... still takes a couple hours to max, but I like being close to the village and I do keep running into Nightsisters... but so far just that Lance and a few crystals.

Heya! The Geo cave is still very packed it seems, but I only went there once in the past few weeks. Even with 7 other people camping, it's fast xp. Dathomir has less travel time though

My understanding is thatthe DoT will NOT stick if you are uncertified. Certainly, that was my experience when testing an NS lance with no Pikeman skills.

Nope. I have a Janta Knife with a Mind Poision on it, and I have no Brawler skills whatsoever. It sticks the DoT just fine.

Since it's called a 'Janta Knife' and not 'Stone Knife' or whatever, I'd guess it's an innate certification. However it works, it does seem they 'nerfed' the DoT lances. I noticed it and have had it confirmed by someone who PvPs a lot more than me(that's not saying much, but trust me, he knows his stuff

actually the stone knife is yet again a innate cert so the janta is probably justtreatedas one
(according to our own correspondent waste 93)
There are 9 (10 for Wookiees). They are CDEF Pistol, CDEF Carbine, CDEF Rifle, Stone Knife, Survival Knife, C12 Grenade, Zixc Bug Bomb, Heavy Axe, and Wooden Staff. Wookiees also get the Bowcaster.
this also solves a little issue about need a kinetic weapon... anyone can use the knives or the wood staff ^_^

This actually works by comparing the resists to the potency - so think of a resist pack as a negative to potency. So a higher potency is desired as it will defeat resistance more often
OTOH:even if the potency is 1 it has a 5% chance of sticking(does that make sense - you always have a min 5% chance of sticking a DOT even against resistances that exceed potency)
(Master Doc Resist pack = 284 vs potency 300 so it would be 300-284 = 16%chance (very simplified as it is more complex but generally the idea))
Strength = Usually anything about 200 is good, so 250 is very good.I have a mind fire rifle, and a mind poison rifle, which is one of the reasons I went Rifleman. They aren't THAT good, but are a big bonus when PVPing
Strength determines how much damage per tick it does (10 secs for poison 40 for disease?)
