Thread: I've Been Told this is Definitely not a Dabbler Profession

Yet I am still trying to dabble. I'm trying to get 4/0/0/0 just for the ranged aspect. I was just curious as to whether the damage done with only one tree would be substantial (I'm aware it would be slow, but I can live with that).

That will give you a mind bleed, which is crap now thanks to the patch, and headshot 3 which is to expensive in HAM costs for the damage it deals when compared with headshot 2 which you get by rifle 4 in marksman. The only bonus that that line will give you is accuracy and the ranged deathblow, however I don't see how not having to walk 40 meters is that big of a benefit. If you want damage then flushing shot 2 (countersniper 3) is pretty good, speed comes with our special line, and concealment is more or less crap outside of the mitigation.Honestly the only major gains we get are at master lvl, but if you still want to use us over pistoleer or carbines, welcome and good luck.

I'd say give up CH and go all rifles. Besides, I've killed every pet sent at me since I became Master Rifleman / Master TKA.

Again, take the time to relearn the game before you start bitching about it harpoon. 2 months is a long time to be away from something and expect nothing to have changed.

Instead of just Flaming him HARP00N, give him a reason why "the TKA desqualifies his acheivement"....

because, he has taken arguably the 2 most powerfull classes in the game and put them together. He has defences stacked from both professions. That there are so many rifleman/TKA combinations proves my point.

In answer to Grable22, I guess I should have asked this when you posted in the T.K Forums.

Do you want to use your Rifle Skills in PvP? Pure and simple..

If you answered:

Yes - Then I would have to say, don't dabble, Drop C.H and Master it.

if you answered:

No - do what PsychoticChipmunk suggested and get an AOE attack and a little speed and Accuracy, the Area Attacks are great against clustered enemy's around your Pet Tank.

Peace!

So what you are saying is that you would give him "Kudos" if he had taken Pikeman as his secondary profession?

That's a bit Lame man.. why would intentionally take up a somewhat broken profession when you have the choice to take up a working one?

I too am a Rifleman / TK and in that order of preference. I use my rifle 90% of the time and I took up TK so that I could have a better chance agains Melee types in PVP & PVE.

P.S: Absolutely no disrespect inteded to Pikeman, I have several Pikeman buddies who are sticking it out until the class is fixed. I have enourmous respect for them! I hope they get boosted soon... real soon!

no you dont lol, you want to win. Otherwise you wouldn't get the super combo. People like you are always jumping around, getting the best combinations, etc.. i know thats just the way some people are, and its theoritically intended in the game mechanics... but it just irks me when people brag about how good they are, then they say they're rifle/TKA.

Yeah, the **edit**. I mean how dare he want to win, how dare he pick a ranged and a melee profession so he can attack people up close and at a distance. I mean combining the 2 working combat classes (out of so many broken ones) just proves how he can think of nothing but overpowering himself to the point where everything is meaningless...or he could just be thinking about the fact that it is a good idea to have skills for point blank and range, and consider which professions are arguably the strongest/fit his playstyle the most.

I would actually argue that swordsman and riflewould be the better combo then MRM/TKM due to the head hits taking even more mind, however strafe2 is really the best attack so I can see how wanting to be able to attack most bars is more attractive to some people. If I had any skill points to spare (am mayor and want to be a smuggler for RP purposesso nope) I would graba melee prof to exemplify my build but then Isuppose I must be a "l33t d00d" right?

swordsman still has random pool attacks (two hand hit, etc...) so you can be hitting health as much as you can with strafeshot2.

anyways, i dont care what you think - you know im right. People chose tka/rifleman because they are uber. Depending on how long you have been here, you might have noticed something about me: I b1tch about imbalances in the game... a lot. I have been a plain rifleman since the game started, and have gone through the CHs, the BHs, and the Commandos alternatively dominating in PvP. But while I b1tch, other people like the ones i mentioned just hop to the next flavour of the month like a cheap wh0re, and then brag about how good they are. People chose the path of least resistance, kind of like you PhsychoticChipmunk, seeing as you're a rebel.

Just look how many rifleman/TKAs there are. Am I lying?

i hope TKA gets nerfed into a small fluffy pillow like they deserve, im sick of TKA's bullsh1t. but i fear that by the time i get master, riflemen will get nerfed by association, as they are beginning to be. I guess we'll be losing you when the next patch comes out and fixes the rifleman's stacked defences... i heard CMs pretty good, why dont you head that way?

/chuckle

You make me laugh man.. You have now successfully Pigeon Holed anyone who picked that combo simply because there is a majority who pick it because it is a powerful combination, and the select few ( Myself included ) who picked it because it was actually the Combo they wanted to begin with, in your eyes weare now one and the same. No skin off my nose, just don't presume to know the reasons for what other people do.

If you look at my Signature you will notice I haveMastered 4 professions total -

Rifleman was my first ( MasteredLast November )

Marksman was my Second ( Mastered Last November )

Creature handler my Third( Mastered just before Christmas and after the CH Nerf )

Once I had worked out that Pets are nigh usless in PVP I decided to drop CH and pick up a Melee profession.. I tried a number of the Brawler skills 1-handed, 2-handed and Polearm.. but it was Unarmed that I enjoyed the most so I settled on TKA. It took me a month to grind through it because I can only play for a few hours a day and I finished around 3 weeks ago. I don't dabble in any other professions for Defence bonuses, I instead chose to keep Novice medic and some Scouting skills for Harvesting and Terrain Negotiation.

I have no intention of changing my professions at this time, Come Nerf or high water.

And I have no Idea why I am bothering to justify my choices to you. From what I have read of your other posts on other boards you just seem peeved that this combo or TKA is unbeatable by you so you instantly hate all Teras Kasi or MRM/TKA..

Chill out man.. Play the game.. Master Rifleman.. You'll love it
