Thread: The Game needs Assualt Rifle's.(need Ideas, Give Ideas Just for Fun also pleese)IM thinking....
Make a Soldier proffesion They use assualt rifles and have very basic medic skills. pre-reqs Master Carbineer, Rifleman 4-0-0-4(or any combo), First aid 4 and ranged defence 4.
GIve ideas peaple!!!!

In theory, Carbineers are supposed to be the "assault rifle" class.
incorrect, Carbines by deffenition are Short-Rifles. There most comonly used by Spec-ops forces.
The Rifleman in this game are more intune with the sniper/support gunner role.

Carbineers are assualt troops.Think Special Forces, Airborne, SWAT, and the Soviet Guard units from WWII. Carbines are used in places where you want heavier firepower than a pistol but need smaller size than a rifle. Such as urban combat and boarding ships. Like the opening scene of ANH.
Assault rifles are general issue to the troops. Carbines (and SMG's) are special issue to specialized troops.
Carbineer's are hardly workong out as originally intended, but neither are the majority of professions.
Rifleman is already the basic Soldier profession. They are infantry. As for assault rifles they are also already in the came. They account for the AoE attacks that Rifleman have.

Apparently not. In the real world, of pistols, carbines, and rifles, guess which is the slowest of the three........give up? It's pistols!

Have to disagree with you.
First Rifleman can not be snipers. The reasons are numerous and have been discussed extensively on these boards. But a quick recap is that there is no long range for snipers to use. 64m isn't long range, it's even shorter than the standard rifle range. There are no one shot kills, and one shot kills are the snipers motto. There is no way to hide from the radar. Concealment is another sniper trait. So there can be no snipers in this game.
Not all carbines are automatic. M1 Carbine was not automatic. Nor were the numerous bolt action carbines that were invented. The Carbine was made for mounted troops (calvary) originally. They had a shorter barrel and stock to make them easier to use while mounted. You have to remember that the muskets and rifles of the time where very large weapons that were several feet in length. Later the carbine was orinally intended for vehicle crews where space was at a premium. Also for airborne troops where weight was a consideration.
Commandos in the game are not true commandos. A real commando would be raiders. Because of their raiding tactics real commandos rarely use heavy weapons. In SWG commandos are heavy weapon specialists.
Nor would assualt rifles be limited to real commandos. Assault rifles are the standard weapon for militaries. Commandos are specialized troops, not standard infantry. The standard infantry is Rifleman. Some militaries still call infantry Rifleman. A good example is the US Marines.
Nor is making assault rifles going to make any changes. Automatic fire in this game is represented by AoE attacks. Not by the weapon itself. Which means that basically all ranged weapons are capable of automatic fire.
