Thread: PETITION : Remove the 2.5x melee damage penalty for rifleman
I believe it should definatly be adressed and removed accordingly (atleast until the max range shocker has been rectified). The reason why i wouldbe pro melee damage penalty would be to compensate for much longer max and ideal range over conventional weapons, the fact that riflemen do lots more damage per shot than anyone else andwe can stop our target from getting up close. None of these are aplicable at present. We are not the masters of ranged combat we are suposed to be, we are disadvantaged weapon wielders. We have no considerable advantage in any area that warants this penalty, the massive mind costs and lack of riflemen exclusesive weaponry.
No one who has taken up rifleman will expect an easy ride, everyone knows what happens to snipers when caught or how quickly they die up close. Im sure every rifleman is aware of the high risks of being a rifleman (thats most of the fun to be honest).
Yes supression fire does work, have you used is after the patch?
"You failed to change the posture of your target"
"You failed to change the posture of your target"
"You failed to change the posture of your target"
"You failed to change the posture of your target"
"You failed to change the posture of your target"
The new change posture stuff in the patch makes it a once or twice use ability.
Yes every class should have its disadvantage, riflemans being we are disadvantaged at PvE and pitoleers being they dont have holsters
(sorry only messing). But how can we be given a 2.5x damage amplifier when 1 out of every 3/4 enemies teleport on top of my face and most oftenone shotincap me followed by a slain (obiously this is due to the cretures i hunt). Should be taken off as a temp measure until the teleport is fixed.
Im happy for a damage penalty for malee, if we can 1, have a repetetive ability to attempt to keep enemies out of range and not have tagets teleport on top of heads.
I agree 2.5X is way to high a penalty. Especially considering the fact thatthe tools I had to keep the enemy off me have been made into a one or two time use only (supress fire). Next to useless. My experience with warning shot has not been all that impressive either. I understand that a sniper gets wacked if found on his belly but a true sniper alsohas advantages which we as riflemen should but do not have (range, accuracy, stealth). The only hope I see now is in the patched suprise shot and conceal shot. Perhaps if we are in a prone position we are (and should be) at a disadvantage in meleebut so should any other class if found flat on their belly. Riflemen simply do not have the pluses in the class to justify the negatives the devs have put on it.

It only gets worse. Some of the new massive damage commando weapons count as melee damage. This means they can easilly 1shot any rifleman in PvP.
Yet the T-21 was "a small nuke"???
This need to be addressed now.
I know real life really dosn't apply here but, for god's sake, in basic training you learn to defend yourself in Bayonette training with blocks and buttstrokes to the head and kidneys. The rifle is an effective melee weapon in itself. What %&*(%$@! moron decided that holding a rifle is a detriment to defense.

Every profession board has tons of complaints about how they are at a disadvantage or whatever, so the balancing must be working but the melee damage modifier is obviously something that needs to be looked at. The idea for 2.5x for prone 1x for kneeling and so one makes a lot more sense. Also, i think that should be for all classes, not just riflemen. It makes sense that if you are kneelling or laying down you will take more melee damage, no matter what weapon you are holding.
I like the 2.5X melee, lol. It separates us from the other classes and makes it that much harder to master, so all thepeople with pistoleer personalitieswill hopefully drop out and take their rightful profession.
I believe that this is a huge and unfair feature for holding a rifle in your hand, but I believe in the future the dev's will reward us with something greatto balance this feature, so lets all sit tight, we made it to Rifleman with this 2.5x melee damage modifier, lets go all the way guys, just the way we are.
If we be patient and hold out as we have been for so long, we will definetely be rewarded, why? because this is much too unbalanced, like all of the posts above, they have greatly explained in fine detailhow unfair it is, how no other profession has this modifier while we are forced to absorb all the negatives, the person who posted that, "There is nothing to warrant such a negative modifer" (orsomething like that) is absolutely right!. If you compare the advantages, I.E. hitting mind pool, the negatives still heavily outweigh the positives making for a poorly balanced profession.
All the professions are highly unbalanced yet, except maybe entertainer and artisan classes, im willing to wait 6 months tops to see everything start to mold into form for this game. Other than that, if I don't see a goodgame by then, and if I don't see or friggin hear about a player Jedi by then, im definetely leaving, lol.
These Dev's are a little tricky from what I see, and im pretty sure they have something in store for us in the future, for now lets bear it all, and take the pistol rounds like a man, and melee damage like a man.
The less we whine about our profession, the more liked we are by the Dev's and anyone else who has to listen to us.
Right now I think we are one of the most hated profession to them
, lol, have you guys read other game designer responses?!?!?!? Tailor's are absolutely the most beloved! Pistols: "Yeah we'll stop everything we are doing and focus on giving you guys holsters and twirly options!", we had ONE OF the most negative responses and ill mannered responses from them.
Game designers, DON'T TELL ME SORRY WE HAVE 34 OR WHATEVER PROFESSIONS TO RESPOND TO SO APOLOGIES FOR RESPONSES BEING BRIEF...It does NOT take more than 3 minutes to type out a better response than the ones given. ONE SENTENCE PER PROBLEM?!?!? **edit** ARE THEY GETTING PAYED FOR?!?
Argh, sorry, off track, bye.

They should make it 10x damage instead, that way we can know 100% that we are dead if we get hit once, two hits is too much as it currently is.

This needs to be addressed. Why is it that Rifleman take 2.5x damage when hit by a melee than any other ranged weapon user? It is not fair or balancing at all, and now it affects the profession even more since once the mobs start running at youit is even more difficulthitting them with the new moving target accuracy modifiers. I dont understand why rifleman are the only profession to suffer this. Do we do more damage that the other ranged combat classes? Do we have a longer range? So why the penalty? As it is now if i dont kill something with the first 3 shots while prone there is a good chance i'm dead, and if any mobs assist its almost certian. Supression fire no longer works for keeping targets at a distance either.
Folks I'm asking for your help to keep this on the front page so it will be addressed.
