Could someone tell me how to root an enemy when you are

MRifle/ CM 4000

Is there a CM attack that lets you paralyze them ?

If so, what branch of the CM tree is it in and what is it called ?

Thanks

biological warfare (3)-Paralyze

but you have to be in melee range to use it

you can get other roots from pistoleer (my suggestion) or from smuggler (but this one should break on hit)

How long does the paralyze last for ?

And Would I be able to that stopping shot from pistoleer with my rifle or would I need to change weapons in between ?

Yes stopping shot works with a rifleand Paralyse is currently bugged.

Paralyze is ment to break when you take damage(because you can't heal yourself nor attack).

Stopping Shot works as intended and might just be the most valuable special in the game.

I prefer Startle Shot. KD from BH and then set SS as auto-attack. You can keep a critter/player KD'd for long periods, and they cant do ANY action, so no healing for Jedi.

Most PvE gets the following combo: Sniper Shot, Advanced Critical, KD, SS, SS, SS etc until dead(which doesnt take very long, heh, I love rifles). In PvP you just open with a Sniper and save the Advanced Critical for a finishing move. Even better is hitting them with a few Conceal Shots and coming out of Cover with a KD shot, then Startle 'em to death.

It's not as reliable as Stopping Shot, especially the Advanced version, but it means no SP investment beyond my MBH/MR template, so I can spend the remaining skills on what I wanted; some Medic and CH.

It's all nice, I did'nt know Startle Shot was all that effective..... I'm gonna have to use it more:smiliewicked:

I havn't done much PVP, but in PVE I have not noticed any decernable effect from startle shot. Like Kneecap shot it seems like it's effective in PVP but hardly worth using in PVE.

So Startle Shot from Pistoleer is the best to go for?

What I do in PvE 1:1 fights is:

1. startleshot
2. headshot or ranged shot (depending on my action bar)
3. repeat from 1.

The startleshot will prevent the enemy from attacking for long enough to bring in another attack, and if followed by another startleshot, the enemy has a hard time attacking before being startled again - I take only 10% to 20% of the hits I take without using startleshot.

Also, if its a melee enemy, I open up with:

1. snipershot (should I get it to work actually )
2. kneecap shot
3. headshot
4. ranged shot
5. repeat from 2 or 3 depending on situation.
6. when action runs out, start the startleshot stuff.

Kneecap shot doesnt have a huge effect, but it slows melee enemies down enough to set off ranged weapon hinderance and allowing me to kite.

Startle shot verses melee targets doesnt do much except cause them to pause a bit. But verses ranged opponents, it is very effective. I root them (smuggler cersion shot) and then startle. They stand there and stare.
