Thread: Eyeshot vs headshot2 = pathetic
Just a note to up and coming Riflemen. I know this class has its problems and I have bitched many times on the forums about them... The worst problem I face right now is the HUGE cost to my unhealable mind pool. I have taken BHs in duels at a range a number of times since I hit Master (eyeshot can make it go either way, but only because it blinds and makes me miss 80%), I wouldn't even dream of making the attempt without being master. The speed increase we get at master level makes us a competitive class. So for people who want to dabble with the rifle: you're making it very hard on yourselves, go for master. For those working to master: Hang in there, I really thought it was worth it once I hit master.
That being said, there is crazy talk about slowing us down in the future, because, why should we shoot as fast as a pistol? Um, okay, then why should a pistol have the same acuracy and range as us?!
You take two scales. You consider speed nerf of rifles and carabines as done thing, while in same postproposed moving of eyeshot to master BH only as proposal. There is no evidence that any of thosewill be implemented, so stop lamenting. Be proud you are gimps which hold rifles. In DAoC i have played shaman who was one of the most gimped class on the begining and now its one of the most dangerous and usefull classes. Now I play rifleman, get to Master Sharpshooter and I am proud of it. This not easy, this is not fast, but it IS rewarding and as I stated before - YOU CAN BE PROUD OF IT.
Just to point out something that you may have forgotten:
Headshot 2 is a NOVICE profession skill. Eyeshot is an ELITE profession skill, and that elite profession requires more time and effort to access than getting rifle 3...
Eyeshot should be better than headshot 2. Headshot 3 however,SHOULD be roughly balanced with it. Sadly from what I understand HS3 is pretty worthless?
Well, just had a little IMP vs Rebel action in anchorhead.
I got 1 shot incapped by a master rifleman that had the revenge TEF.
I had 800 mind and 53 percent composite helmet.
So, I'd say headshot (whatever number) does do decent damage.
You have a screenshot to prove this? The math I'm doing says otherwise. I dunno maybe my math is wrong but it's still hard to believe you without a screenshot.

hardest hitting headshot these days PvE is around3000 on a very lucky kneeled or proned shot with a very high end laser rifle, therefore, in PvP this number would be around 750, wearing a 53% composite helmet this number is now around 375, so yes I agree a screenshot would be nice proof to back up this claim. What I just explained is best case for a headshot, and that happens about as often as people open their FSCS, j/k, but its very rare to see the numbers I described.

Are you sure it wasn't StrafeShot2 ? The multiplier is higher on that ability. Not sure any masters even use HS? Its just too crappy.

Since it was a master rifleman, I'm going to put my money on the shot actually being a strafe shot 2 that just happened to hit the mind pool. Infact, I'm willing to bet that that was about as lucky of a shot that rifleman could have gotten, since that was probably a fairly high damage roll and it hit what was probably your smallest pool.
I'm certain it was a very high powered rifle, sliced and powered up.
If you don't think that is the case, please take a screenshot. Ask the rifleman that did it to duplicate the shot. Take screenshots and post links to them to alter or validate your claims, including one of the rifleman sporting the master sharpshooter title.
If you run the tests and make similar claims but do not post screenshots to back yourself up, it will be an automatic admission of trolling to "keep the rifleman down". If you never post here again, it will be considered that you were infact hit with a high damagestrafe shot 2, which hits random HAM pools.
I'm not being mean, I'm just trying to protect the rifleman's interests. Whether you know it or not, the claim you made is a very serious one. Be sure to get all of your facts.
If you do run tests, be sure to include the stats of the rifle being used as well as the shot being used.
Your friend has little or no chance against an eye shot use at that level. Mostly becuase hes to slow, while a BH at that level has gotten some decent speed mods.
Even at Master Levels its hard for me to take on a Eye Shot BH, its about 50 percent. Mostly becuase when I shoot, I not only do damage to myself, but he does damage to me when he shoots.
