They are all good

Do you want the best? That'll depend on what you plan to do with it- GCW, duels, etc. Best way to go is with whatever you'll enjoy playing the most.

1. Take a hat.

2. Put numbers 1-4 in the hat.

3. Pull a number outta that hat.

4. Learn every trick and move of that template.

Then and only then will anyone of those templates be good. And i dont mean this as a flame. Just an explanation of what i think is a good template.

my template is MR/TKM/ fencer 0440 and medic, yes i know you can get the same or better state defenses with pistol 0040....I just like to use fencer to tank when Stun works better, among many reasons.

But yes I agree very much any template, has weaknesses if youre not a doctor a CM can eat you up, and really there is just so much involved in learning your template, learning what moves work best in what situation, getting your hotkeys and macros down to funtional lvls(hehe), personally I find I need to keep the simplest strategies in mind and use the most important specials to implement them, in a way that is as little confusing in a hot situation as possible.

It's not your template that will ever make you the best of the best, it's an important tool but there are endless other considerations, basically only you can make your template the best.

I Really do believe it should be a template you enjoy playing most, if not for that I would prolly say CM/MR, that seems to be the FOTM.

1,2, and 4 are pretty good, but 3 is horrible. I see where you are trying to go with this, but it just doesn't work. The reasons are as follows:

  1. Pistoleer 4xxx is pointless as you're just getting the dodge bonuses which do not apply to while you are holding a rifle.

  2. Ranged/Melee defense are capped at +125, so TK xxx4, Fencer 4xxx, and Pistoleer xxx4 are complete overkill since you'll still be capped at +125.

  3. TK 3xxx why? Take it to 4xxx so you get FOW and the ability to heal wounds.

A better defensive template would be something along the lines of M. Rifleman / M. Fencer / 4-x-x-1 TK with extra points spent how you like (medic, scout, or more TK being the most likely)

As far as choosing one, it depends on your playstyle.Go withwhatever suits you and learn to play it well rather than picking something just to be uber.

Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman has great synergy with Mind damage and a lot of raw power. Where you decide to spend the rest of your points will be the difference in how effective that template will actually be. Here are the options for your dabble:

1 - 4304 TKA. My template. With this you're sacrificing high state defenses for the Meditation line and all that gives. You'll still be capped on melee/ranged though.

2 - 3440 Fencer. Caps melee/ranged defense and gives exceptionally high state defenses. No Meditation line though.

3 - Master Brawler, 2000 TK. Low defenses across the board, but you get more speed for your Swordsman side, Intimidate 2, and a 20m KD. Also you get Powerboost.

There's a couple others as well, including some mix of Pistoleer for melee and state defenses or 4004 Marksman/Novice Medic for Supression Fire to combo with Flurry Shot and the ability to heal. However, in my experience, if you have a mastery in a melee prof, Lunge 1 will do just fine for forcing posture change. And Novice Medic is a waste of points in my opinion.

Just try to get some speed attachments, high effectiveness sliced armor, and dmg sliced weapons and you should be good to go. And don't think you're going to get off so easy just spamming Head Shot with a Jawa. Your power comes from Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman, but your survivability will come from your dabble.

Choose wisely....

I'm going Master HS/Master Rifle. Think it would be wise to dabble with Scout 4000 and Carbine 0023? The carbine lines would give me more state defenses and cap me at counterattack, while adding chargeshot1 and fullautoarea2. I'm kind of worried that with so little carbineer these shots will be useless though.

Here is my 2 cents. Master Rifleman, Doc 4/0/4/0, Fencer 3/0/0/0. You will have the offense of Rifleman (T21 and AP1 stun Jawa), with pretty decent melee defense (+90ish) and capped ranged defense. You also won't have to worry about those pesky CMs or Commandos, because you'll be able to heal your own poison/disease/fire.
