klawlegna:Tusken Rifle & Spraystick damage types arestill broken.

Keldarin: If you are referring to the desire that these weapons be given Kinetic damage, it's not going to happen for a while (if ever.) Currently ranged weapons have a significant advantage over melee weapons for variety of damage types done. The one hold-out is Kinetic damage.I know that there are a couple ranged weapons that currently do kinetic damage but they are not powerful enough to impact melee players. Until I am able to get a better distribution of damage varieties across melee weapons then Kinetic will remain a protected melee damage type. No profession should be given all the tricks, the idea is to spread roles and utilities across the profession so that they are required to work together to accomplish bigger goals. If you have a target that needs high Kinetic damage output to take down then pick up a melee player for your group.

** I'm still waiting word on from him regarding "Acid" for Spraystick. However, it doesn't look promising for any changes for weapons pre-weapon balance. We canlook for some kind of change durning the weapons balance for probably all the weapons in SWG.

typical

the only thing i have to say on that is, if i cant deal any damage to such mobs ie. Nightsisters that are 100 percent resistant to energy, acid, cold, and stun. What makes you think im going to even go hunt them? i would be useless in such a group hence i would just find something else to do. but the kicker is they are 1 of the very few mobs in the game that drop any kind of useful loot.

oh well, this game is more geared towards melee anyway, which is stupid imo, Star Wars was made around ranged weapons not people standing there fighting with their hands or close in weapons.

Don't take that crap from them- THE TUSKEN RIFLE USED TO BE KINETIC, AND SHOULD BE FIXED. It was changed with NO NOTICE in publish 4, and this is the first time they've said anything about it.

And what about the striker pistol? That does kinetic damage.

edit: not publish 4. Earlier than that. See my next post.

hes lying, pure and simple. i have had kinetic damage tuskens before mounts came in. however they dont exsist now. they were stealth removed because noone used them but now when we need kinetic damage to attack and help a group take down high level mobs, we have nothing......

unless ofc this new rifle has that damage.

That's wrong- ask any weaponsmith who was around at launch, and they will tell you that it was kinetic.

I searched the weaponsmith forum and found the earliest post about the bugged damage type(August): http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=weaponsmith&message.id=8371

A post from July which states that the striker pistol and Tusken are the only two ranged kinetic weapons: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=weaponsmith&message.id=1999

The Tusken rifle is rather bad, as is the striker pistol. Putting it back to kinetic damage would have no effect on the value of melee classes in groups; it would simply make riflemen NOT COMPLETELY USELESS when hunting certain mobs like nightsisters.

The rifle from Victor's quest in Bestine is kinetic damage and has much better stats than the Tusken, and the berserker rifle is rumored to be kinetic damage. If they wantit to be a "protected melee damage type", then why are they adding new kinetic ranged weapons?

Gee, he certaintly gave you a different answer than he did when I asked... How odd.

Oh, the and Devs are clearly lying, and I wish they'd stop. Tusken was kinetic.

I can respect the answer that deals with balancing damage types, but I have no respect for the Dev team right now because of the lies they resort to.

Click here for proof that the Devs hate Riflemen. And here's the kicker! (Seperate thread)

um then how come my first looted tuskan rifle (way back in june or july) said Kinetic under damage type and I accepted it cause it seemed to fire projectiles and made a sound like a gun from earth?

Oh wait I must have been doing Muron or something.

/sigh it's nice to know the deves are consistent in one thing, handing out misinformation.

How dare they. How dare they!! Refusing to respond to a repeatedly asked question is bad enough. Refusing to correct the issue is one more nail in the coffin. But this. This is pure arrogance. How could they have the audacity to speak to us like alzheimer patients? I only wish I had taken a screenshot of my weapons beforehand to disprove this but ask any rifleman or weaponsmith who has been here from launch and they can verify this as a straight out lie. I have held this game in high regards, accepting that it will take time for change and the betterment of the game no matter how much it ruins the "feel" of Star Wars but this is just too much to bear. I cannot believe that he would do such a thing so blatantly and callously. Impudent wretch.

Wow, I thought the first response was fair and a decent reason for not changing it, the second response is pathetic.
