Thread: Rifleman after the CU: Gunner or Sniper
I would say right now, Rifleman is definately more of a heavy gunner. It's hard to be a sniper when a pistol is just as accurate at 60 meters as a rifle. With mention of the devs expanding the range of ranged weapons, do you think that Rifleman will finally have an advantage with ranged weapons?
All in all - I'd hope to see rifleman become more of a sniper profession than it's current run and gun format. There is a sad lack of stealth in this game, which would complement a sniper rifleman or a smuggler greatly in future combat arenas. And while one shot kills will probably never return, some form of camoflauge or stealth generator for the radar could finally bring a sniping/stealth class to Star Wars galaxy.
Hopefully with the combat upgrade, we will see more diversity in the rifleman profession in PvE and PvP.

so we will just be.........uh, well, not really sure. maybe Dragoons is a better term? (i'll have to look that up)
Dragoons were mounted cavalry that carried Carbines. Actually they were some of the first carbine users. And they were smoothbore carbines.
Rifles should be Infantry with some Sniper and some Gunner abilites. That is what I'm trying for.

/smackhead DOH! my own RL profession and i say 'dragoons'??? /smackhead
but, Infantry actually (nowadays) use carbines. But yes, if you look back 50+ years, Infantry truely were Rifleman. Actually trained in (lol, the irony lol) marksmanship!
And if you are pushing for Sniper, plus my definition of Gunner, then I'm behind you. with one caveat, You must push for our "stack" to be in Ranger!!!!!!!
no really, i'm serious![]()

Most Infantry still use Rifles. Special Forces units use Carbines frequently, but not Infantry.

I'm actually pushing for pretty much the same type of role we have now. Rifles are mainly the basic grunt soldier (Infantry). They also should have some Sniper-like abilities and some light machine gunner abilities. Afterall, our main weapon, the T21, is a light machine gun.
I agree we should maintain much of what we have/do now. But, for me, one of the key elements that we don't have, is the ability to pin people down. And that is the cornerstone of any infantry attack. If you can't keep the baddies heads down, then your flanking movement will get shot to hell and back. We NEED /surpressfire2 and it's needs to be an AOE! This is the duty of any lightmachine gun, surpress the enemy. We need it.

Actually, no. US infantry use carbines. And many other forces' weapons would be better classified as carbines also. Armies (all over the world) are using shorterweapons with smaller rounds, and variable modes of fire, not to mention less stopping power. The hayday of 20+ inch barrels is over, along with stopping power. Now, it's pretty much about putting as many rounds down range as possible.

Well, for a light machine gun it sure is slow! I hope they listen to you and make sure this weapon can fire in all three modes of fire and is not so darn slow! and instead of scoping these things, can we get a 'Bi-Pod' mod. That would be much more realistic and still function as a range/accuracy modifier.

Way to many people rely on the dizzy KD to win.
Carbineers get the ranged dizzy KD's. Thats that and rifleman will not be getting one either. I know this.
Dizzy KD will not be as effective after CU either.

I do fine with out any ranged KD's or posture changes. I dont see why every profession whines about not having one.

I'd really like to see our range expanded and maybe the pistol range shortened (before all you pistoleers out there go crazy - I used to be a Master Pistoleer before I became a Master Rifleman). I'm not sure the graphics engine can handle the range increase...
but I'm not a computer guru and don't know about such things

first off, never once have i talked about KD dizzy. so i'm not sure who your talking to. infact i haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, or anyother rifleman threads i've read lately.
I'm talking about PostureDown. making someone go from standing to kneeling, then, if your lucky, kneeling to prone. I think dizzy KD is stupid. it's the "i win button" for melee people.
I want an AOE supressive fire shot that would force a charging group to kneel, and even go prone. that's all. none of the KD dizzy crap.
