Thread: SOE Hates Riflemen! (proof)
Ok, the evidence has been piling up but several new things have come up that have affirmed this to the point that I would be willing to call it fact. Ive arranged these simple points that individually just seem like a Dev was hitting a crack pipe but all together show a sinister plot against riflemen. Enjoy.
1. 75% of our skills are broken, suck, or dont make sence. Block is broken and useless. Melee Defence is broken and useless and stupid: we get 3x melee damage, +20 MD doesnt mean beans even if it DID work. Conceal shot not only sucks (yay, i get to whittle away at EACHHAM pool for 20 minutes) it for some reason lets "friendlies" agro on us. The concealment skill line doesnt do beanseither.Flurry shot is stupid and no one will ever use it in a million years. Our best attack (and the only one that makes us viable at higher levels) is a g** d*** AOE attack that a flamethrower or machine gun should have.
2. SOE has programmed every single high level creature to be social (bring a friend). Carbineers, BH's, smugglers, and pistoleers can all use knockdown to take multiple creatures at a time. Creature Handlers get to whip out gigantic HAM balls. What do riflemen get? We get conceal shot which lets social monsters attack us when we use it. Not only that, but we get some BS stutter step syndrom. Not only can we NOT kill ANY of the high level creatures, we cant run from them either! Yay!
3. Our top gun is doing 75% less damage than it should. Bounty Hunters get a AR1 pistol that ignores almost all armor. What do we get for our top rifle? A broken POS thats doing almost half the damage it should be doing.
4. We all know that pistoleers and carbineers do WAY WAYWAY more DPS than we do. Stopping shot and eye shot can do over 2k damage a second with the speed at which they spam. The ONLY point in time that a rifleman EVER comes out ahead of the damage curve is with the first shot. This sounds ok to you? Well now they are lowering PvP damage by 75%. That means the odds of us getting a one shot kill are dramatically reduced. We now lose any and all and every advantage we used to have in PvP. Other classes can shoot faster, for more dps, with the same (if not better)accuracy, and with better guns than riflemen can.
5. For some reason knockdown attacks let you "knock down" someone in the prone postion. Which class is most likely to be found in a prone postion? Thats right: riflemen!
There it is folks: absolute proof that someone high up in the SOE heirarchy hates our guts and has ordered the devs to make our lives a miserable bug filled hell.
1. Agreed somewhat. Could use an overhaul.
2. Getting slightly sick of whiners crying out they cant kill any high lvl mobs (which is complete BS). Warning shot. Learn it, love it.
3. Yes T21 needs fixing.
4. Yes your theory sounds ok but i will need to test this out in actual gameplay before i suggest anything to change the situation.
5. This is annoying your right. I would like to see that changed as well.
Oh and SOE doesnt hate rifle users !

Maybe you could explain to me (and everyone else who is wondering) what "high level" monsters your killing? Every high level mosnter i try for is social. And unfortunately I dont have a magical skill which warn shots 3-4 monsters at once.
By high level im talking 3k+ experience per kill.
I love being a rifleman, I feel like I can solo stuff a lot better than a pistoleer or carbineer at a comparable level (with the "broken" conceal shot no less), and while there are some bugs, we have nothing to whine about in comparison to some of the other professions. If being the flavor of the week profession is absolutely necessary for you, drop rifle skills and load up on pistol/BH/CH by all means.
Hate to sound argumentative, but this just really doesn't seem constructive to me.

Feel free to back it up with some actual in-game proof. What are you able to solo? Im willing to bet your either a newb rifleman or not a rifleman at all. If you WERE a rifleman you'd understand where im coming from with all this.
"I feel like i can solo stuff better than a pistoleer or a carbineer" - Roflmao. Have fun killing those kreetles and durnis ![]()
No offense, but the commando class, is alot worst off then ours. I think you guys really need to calm down, and realise that the Devs have alot of work to do. The game went in to early as most of you can see. It was rushed in, were basically still in beta. As a matter of fact, every game starting off tends to be beta still. If you dont like dealing with bugs, then you shouldnt be playing any game when it fist comes out. You should be waiting 3-4 months, then play.
1 month in and they have showed alot of improvement. Be patient, the game can only get better.
I still solo Giant Baz Nitches.
Not as effectively as I once did but well enough that I'm still doing it.
Who can resolve this situation?
(all hands go up)
Without resorting to violence?
(one hand stays up)
Or childish name calling?
(last hand goes down)
Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
AldeonAvardulin made the best point. I have to agree with him even although I am not up to master rifleman. While objectively reading the comments and forming a some what rational opinion, I have to side with Aldeon on this issue. I do think Commando needs to be fixed and now rifleman. I have seen Teras Kasi people nock down a snorbal on Lok, Ithink that all professions with relative experience be able to deliver a crushing blow comparitively. Just be patient.
Tek, can you help meout witha rifle that a sharpshooter apprentice should be using to move to novice. I talked to you before. I was not up to the level I am now, so now I am able to buy a weapon I can use.
Tekdragon,
To get to master i killed the following mobs on dantooine :
Piket (all variations). They are all social. About 9K Ham and 3900-5K XP. AR0-2 depending on variation.
Voritor grassland trackers. Social but often only 2 guarding their lair at a time. AR2 mob and 10K HAM.4500-5K XP.
Thunes (all variations). Social. The slowest mob you'll find on dantooine and you can run a long time before it catches you. 4-5K XP a piece. 10K HAM.
Mindshot1-2 with laser, run like hell, then tag all charging you with WS from a spraystick. I mean how hard can it be ?
Now, stop the whines and go out and earn your XP instead of demanding it to be served on a silver platter...
