Hello,

We are conducting research to help focus our efforts on providing the most effective weapons at the right price for theRifleman profession and others. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to comment on the following:

  • Which weapon (or weapons) are you most interested in purchasing?

  • What stats (damage, speed, HAM costs, etc) are you looking for? (unsliced)

  • How much would you expect to pay?

Your assistance will help weaponsmiths on all galaxies serve you better.

Thank you,

ogras

laser rifle- high dmg, spd not priority so slow, low ham would expect to pay around 10k for one

i have also been looking into jawa ion rifles but i have never bought one so i dont know about price but everything else would star the same.

Laser Rifles (400+ max damage).. about 10k considering I will have to buy a crate to be sure to get a few good slices. for a 33%+ damage slice I'd pay 30k.

There is a demand for high damage DLT20a's also.. not using them myself though.

I am shopping for two different rifles:

Bleed rifle: High average damage (good minimum and maximum), High armor piercing. Speed and HAM costs irrelevant (usually a T21 fits these requirements best). Anything to increase avg damage is good, since the only special I typically use with this rifle will be one or two bleeds per creature.

DPS rifle: High damage per second. Speed is somewhat important because my rifle skill isn't high enough yet. HAM costs are important. Armor Piercing isnice, but not critical. As I gain rifle skill I'll be looking for less speed, more damage, lower HAM, better armor piercing.

Presliced rifles are nice. Saves me time and money, even if the slice is slightly less than I might get, and even if the cost is greater than it would be if I got it sliced myself.

On money, I shop around and pay a premium only if the rifle is significantlybetter than that of other weaponsmiths, or if my current rifle has high damage. There is no set amount that I'm willing to pay...I check every master weaponsmiths' prices and quality and make a decision based on that. Gotta love competition.

Okay, I dont make weapons, so I dont know how hard each weapon is to make for a weaponsmith. But as a user of rifles, I generally expect to pay in the 5K to 15K range depending on the weapon.

Disclaimers/Notes:
-- All rifles I discuss below would be pre-sliced.
--I am at work andcantswear thatall the numbers below are100% correct.
-- My server is Eclipse.

DLT20A - I generally pay 4K -10K for a high-damage (pre-sliced) DLT20A.
I have bought maybe 6 of these. Two were for high damage (dont remember values), and paid around 5K for one, 7K for other. Others were poor to goodand I paid probably 2K - 5K for them.

E11 - I would expect to pay 8K - 14K for a high-damage (pre-sliced) E11.
My current E11 is around 200 dmg pre-sliced (i think). I believe I paid 14K.

Laser - I have bought three or four of these. Mine are good damage but not great. I would expect to pay 10K to 15K depending on the damage. If it was excellent damage, I would definitely pay more.

T21 - I paid 55K for one of these in thepre-nerf era. I certainly wouldn't pay anywhere near that today. I bought some average ones recently for 17K and thought that was probably a fair price. The higher the damage the more I'd pay. Wish I had the numbers on the 17K ones... i THINK it may have been 310-330 max damage, but I dont remember.

Spraystick - I've had it so long I dont remember. I might pay 5K-7K for a good one today. Not sure.

I also buy weapons by the crate if I can from our PA's weaponsmith and get them all sliced hoping for a high damage slice. For group hunting I prefer high dps. For soloing, I prefer high damage/low hams. As such, the Laser Rifle and DLT20a rifles lend themselves to these roles quite nicely. Especially if I can come accross the Krayt tissues. Plus, I'm willing to pay a premium for additional components added to the weapon as well. I have gone through almost a dozen laser rifles and until I got my last two with scopes, I hated every one of them. Weaponsmiths I've talked to don't like to add the optional components because they say it raises the HAM cost and the benifits are not worth it. I disagree. The ones I have with scopes have no higher ham cost and are vastly superior to hit modifiers. It's made a WORLD of difference in my hunting. My weaponsmith friend nearly chocked on his drink when I ran in and asked him for some Krayt DLT20a rifles with scopes.

Low-HAM spraysticks. I don't care about speed. I don't care about damage. The main purpose of my Spraystick is to spam Warning Shot.

Trick out the HAM as much as you can, and then spend the rest of the points on range.

THAT'S a spraystick I'd buy in a heartbeat.

If I see any of the following with high damage and moderate ham costs I'll probably buy it: T21, E11, Jawa Ion, SG82 and a DLT20a. I would expect to pay somewhere between 5k-30k without adv. components and optional parts. If I see a really great E11 I'll probably pay 2 or 3 X my usual price due to how hard it is to get a good one. I may buy a good laser, but I hate the damage range it has. If the tusken and the spraystick get their damage type changed I would get one of each.

I think ideally you guys (WS) should offer two types of rifles for us: Novice models and Advanced models.

Novices: Speed and HAM as priority. E-11's , DLT20a'sand fast T-21s for bleeds

Advanced: Damage and HAMs the main priority. T-21's, Lasers (I don't use them), and the odd E-11.

We all love Pre-slices, makes it way easier for us. As long as they are on a seperate vendor.

The most I will pay for a gun is 20-30k, the 30k being for superior weaponry with superior slices (30%+ on a T-21 with goodbase stats). The average price would be 10-15K. The guns I got now are an E-11 97-209 3.2, an DLT 104-202 4.0,and I'm looking for a bleedT-21.I also use pistol for warning shots, so spraysticks are useless to me. AP is ALWAYS welcome, I will buy an AP gun over a non-AP every time.

Jawa Ions are the ultimate PvP gun. Make those High DAM, ok speed (we don't pvp until upper levels anyways) andHAMs don't really matter.

It's great you guys are actually doing something about the disturbinglack of rifle-making smiths

My favorites: DLT20a, Laser, and Jawa Ion. Damage is the only thing that matters to most masters (especially to master rifleman + master marksman). And HAM of course.

Jawa Ions are waaaay underrated... they do stun damage people! Composite armor has stun vulnerability!

I'd be interested to see the results of this research, for all weapons.

T21s are still my weapon of choice, even though its been nerfed..i shelled out a lot of dough for the prenerfs, but since they arent here anymore (ive still got one left) it wont matter..

so for the postnerf ones, i enjoyed the fact that one weaponsmith gave high end stats for 12k per T21, while i was a bit dismayed that another gave highest end stats for 30k, even though the stats only differed by .2 seconds and about 15 damage..

i would pay about 15-25k per T21 if the stats were good (relatively good, 110-330ish, 7.2ish, medium HAM)

Personally I only use two Rifles:

Laser: Hunting rifle -- Low HAM 58 is best. 40-400 or better. 5.7 or better. -- 15k to 20k

Bleed rifle -- HAM not a consideration. 78--476 or better. 6.0 -- 15k to 20k

Sliced weapons depending on the slice I have paid 200k for. I ONLY buy pre sliced weapons now. I am tired of throwing teh dice and comming up short.

Normal price of a decent sliced weapon = 25k (Decent to me is 25-29 percent -- after 29 percent you start to pay alot more)

T21 -- Low Ham 78 or better. Speed dosent matter. 140 -330 or better.

I'd like to thank the riflemen who have responded so far. Your input is quite helpful.

Issik, I hear you on the lack of rifles. Same situation on melee weapons.I think the commandos keep WSs so busy they don't have much time for much else.

Almi, I will post a compilation and analysis of the results of soon.
