Thread: No, Rifleman does NOT suck

I honestly think our profession is the most under-rated in the game. No, this isnt going to be another "just wait till you're a master" post, because i'm not master yet, but I am high enough to feel some of the badass. Without crunching numbers or measuring dps or any other formula-type stuff, based on my own personal PvP experience, rifleman will beat ANY class save for BHs (they really still beat everybody) and commandos. This is the truth. Pistoleers cannot stand to you,all you need to do to CH's is mind dot them and spam thier pet with warningshot using a spraystick, and everyone else is just, well, **edit**ed.

Let me break it down:

-we have a knockdown (not a specific move, but a combo)

-we have *sick* AOE attacks

-our speed with _high_ damage weaponry becomes *ridiculous*

-a stacked mind bleed that cripples most other combat classes (notice how they mostly stat migrate to more action and health? That ='s a tiny little mind pool for us to dmg)

-damage to an unhealable HAM (mind)

is the t21 a shadow of its former self? yes. Think about this tho: which gun was still king before the llc improvement and commando weapons?

when you get that second box of rifle spec abilities, you'll feel the speed difference. That t21 might say 7.2, but you acutally fire it closer to 3.5. Laser rifles become incredibly fast and deadly (much easier on the mind than the t21 too). That spraystick gets that suppression/flurryshot macro faster than a pistoleer blinks.

Novice rifleman is a pain. I remember it well, and it sux. I like to group, but if you're absolutely opposed to grouping tho, for crissakes, get some pistol skill. You are more deadly with a pistol backup, even if you just train to the Scout pistol. Spam that warningshot. Hotkey weapons and switch in the middle of battle and even in the middle of a macro. Using the t21 all the time is just dumb: we have the best guns I think, with a wide range of dmg's and spd's,and your backpack should be atoolbox of death. Use the right tool for the job.

Advance your sniping and accuracy line as quickly as possible, because youll still feel gimped till about the third box. Pour all your combat xp into rifle spec abilities: speed is of the essence.

And remember this before you feel useless: you picked rifleman because you like *tactics*. If you're a rifleman just for the t21, forget it, go be a BH. You'll beat everyone with eyeshot, over and over again, satisfying your hack n' slash needs. If you like to think about your fighting, rifleman is where its at I think.

The greatest rewards are at the end, or so ive read. I'll find out soon, and so will some of you. Keep at it, we don't suck.

Doh you might as well have put a neon sign on your post "Whiners please come flame me"

We have issues but I agree we are very underated, and alot of that has to do with the attitude on this board. If anyone came here for the first time they would think this is the worst profession in the game.

Hey silverarsehole surrender your exploited skills and try it agian. Then you have the right to tell every rifleman how to shut the heck up. Come on you are the **edit**, you tell every novice rifleman they are a whining newb.

Show us how to do it you hardcore dewd. Take your l33t arse out and go pvp with non-master skills.

Yes... I totally agree. Most of the people that I see complaining are either using stupid tactics, or no tactics at all. I love being a sharpshooter. It may require a little more tactical forethought, but it is really fun.I can't wait till I get to master, but I can already kick some serious ass.I am on Tarquinas, andcan't get aT21,but youstillwouldn't want me to have a bead on you with my laser rifle.

I'm a Master Marksman and a Master Rifleman. I fire fast, but that's about it. Accuracy is horrible, I almost invariably can't hit anything in P v P more than once during a battle before dying, even if I get the drop on my opponent. If anyone gets within 30 meters of me, I'm guaranteed dead. I'm using a prenerf T21, damage sliced and powered up for a total of 280-825 damage base, roughly, but accuracy is so dismal, my mind runs out so fast . . . I might get a spectacular hit in, but it will never be a one shot, which means I quickly perish. Not to mention I can't P v P for 5 minutes without some Bounty Hunter blinding me and raping my Mind Pool within a few seconds. Surprise is the only thing I have going for me, and even then I usually die. The accuracy problem cannot be overstated, and the HAM drains are truly crippling.

You're talking about the Scatter Pistol, right?

if we no one showed up as red dots when they were overt the game would be alot better. That way anyone can get the drop on anyone and not have prior notice due to red dots showing on the radar.

Krup try a DLT20a I promise you will not be disapointed. The T21 under the new accuracy rules is not a all purpose PvP weapon anymore. I too have a Pre-Nerf T21's 4 to be exact and rarely use one in PvP now. The problem is the POS misses way to much, compared to the 20a that rarely misses and only uses 45 mind for a 200-300 headshot and 300-550 SS2. Only thing is I have to recognize quickly if the person is using armor and switch out to the Jawa or T21.

Don't even consider rifleman if you want to pvp one on one.

Pistoleer can jsut run around with no effective penalty hitting you at will.

Well duh but we have flaws that can be taken advantage of. We are not UBER ELITE class so they wine and complain. Let them , encourage them to go elsewhere so I can read the boared without having to deal with more wining then i here from the terminaly ill. I mean its a game you not happy and/or not willing to wait for the fixes are class does need. Then go some do something else and have fun or start a support group for bitter rilfeman and ex-rifleman. but quit wining here. I come here for usefule info not complaints.

Riflemen definitely do not suck as a support class. I was out on Dantooine a couple of nights ago with a few friends. The Pistoleers used WarningShot to keep away the hostiles while I bled the MOBs with MindShots. After MS1 and MS2, I out-damaged 2 pistoleers with pets and got the lion's share of the XP as well. There isn't too much that can compete with 1500 points of mind bleed per round coupled with 1000-2000 point HeadShot2 hits. I was taking down 12000 HAM MOBs in under 45 seconds. Sure, I needed to take a breather after each lair, but so did everyone else due to their pets. The pistoleers were happy because they didn't have to use Stimpacks on themselves.

Of course, there were a few bloopers where the voritor actually got to me and sent me on a fast trip to the cloning center. But, I did get 75K experience in a matter of half an hour or so while grouped.

The things that really bug me are still this:

1. What's with this TakeCover bug where you're stuck in Walk mode?

2. We need equivalent weapon accuracy bonuses as any other elite ranged class as we go up our Sniping Accuracy tree. Those Pistoleers seemed to miss about as much as I did at 64 meters. And I simply couldn't compete at less than 40 meters.

3. Warping monsters just utterly suck.

4. Stutterstep will still be the most likely cause of your death when you're doing crowd control.

5. What is it with those Snorbals that can nail me at 20 meters with a melee attack?

6. They really should un-nerf the T-21. A master Pikeman can nail us for over 15000 (yep, 15000) damage with his damage multipliers and ours. A Commando can do the same with his weapon. A Bounty Hunter is in a slightly lesser league, but they seem to be the class designed to kill Riflemen with those spammed Eyeshots. Never in the glory days of the pre-nerf T-21 did it EVER come close to what other weapons could dish out. And that Pikeman with the Power Hammer can just keep on spamming his attacks while taking action stims. If Raph said that any ranged weapon dishing out 3000 damage per shot was scary, he must be crapping his pants when he sees the rampaging Commandos. You know it's bad when people with AT-STs turn tail and run at the sight of those heavy weapons. That had to be the funniest moment in SWG, so far.

Rifleman can do some serious damage if we're not shot at. I'm a CH/Rifleman since i rarely group and i don't like to run away from banthas and snorbals when grinding, having a graul mauler is a huge help. My graul mauler can last like 10min against 3-5 giant baz nitches. MS1, MS2, and headshot2 all the way. I think every rifleman should have at least a trusty rock beetle pet (2200 HAM AR1 about 25% kinetic resist if you don't know). If you have the time get novice CH 1,1,0,0 for a greater sludge panther (8k ham, 60% kinetic). They don't run away as much as beetles do, and makes a great kinetic meat shield.

Yup, agreed that Rifleman do NOT suck.

I think people just want to the best fighter in every single situation. If you're being chased by a pistoleer, that's HIS territory. If a pistoleer were to try and charge you, that's YOUR territory, and trust me, that pistoleer's not going to have a chance. When I can be still, I always use my T21, and that thing hits like a jackhammer once you level special abilities. I mean seriously, your target is going to feel the pain even with just auto attacks beating down on him.

You know the hillnear bestine with the imperial fort? I was able to drop into cover on the side facing town, as a group of rebels and I were holding the hill. Imps came up, but they ran right back down when my T21 started pounding them. Of course that's an extreme example, but it also had an extreme result. I walked away from the hill that day without being DBed.

Now if bounty hunters and commandos would stop using their revenge flags and heavy weapons BS melee bonuses to smoke me with one shot, I'd be perfectly happy with my choice.
