Thread: Weapon Encumberance has to go
Was moving through the spaceport at a crawl and just logged out, deciding it is not worth it on top of some of the other "fixes", like all my light sources poofing. Meaning my fireplace, cantina stage and light fixtures are gone. All that hard work. What was wrong with just letting them be considered burned out when moved? Just another slap in the face for those of us who have stuck it out since day one.
Please reconsider these two changes and fix back.
More food for thought. I think it was the devs way of balancing our long range so that melee, pistol and carbine could eventually catch up to us and get us in range. That way we can't kite for the win. I'm assuming that is why they mentioned slowing us down at the fan fest, to make it easier for melee to catch up to us.
My suggestion would be to not be holding a rifle unless you are going to use it. If you put it in your magic backpack it becomes light as a feather
.
I think the encumberance is more than fair, especially now that we can still do full damage at close range. Melee and pistols didn't get any range added with the CU, so we are really the ones who came out with a huge advantage.
As for dealing with the encumberance issue: Find some skill tapes with "rifle accuracy while moving" mods and you can kite your enemy without hurting yoru accuracy. With a good, powered-up weapon and the skill tapes you will often get away with killing your enemy without taking a hit to yourself.

Just food for though, a T21 is NOT a sniper rifle, it is an automatic rifle. most of its bulk is lightweight alloys to alloy for heat dissapation.
We are in the predicament now becuase the devs havn't got a freakin clue.
Lightweight alloys and sniper vs automatic have nothing to do with it. It is a BIG gun. The point I was making is that it takes two hands to hold. You ever try running with something that takes to hands, regardless of weight, and you will be a lot slower than something in just one hand.

It's how they imagine a sniper works, moving slowlybetweenpoistions andtaking shots from under-cover. It's the trade-off for havingpowerful long-range weapons. And it's a price we have to pay!
...and besides who would run around a town or a spaceport carrying a massive rifle!
Yeah but in that case the sniper is moving slowly for stealth...when they don't have to worry abou that they move just as fast as anyone else...weapon or no weapon.
Gentlemen, I suggest you be wary on what the Devs envision Riflemen to be.
Example: The devs imagined Commando to be the damage dealing profession with the CU, one of the "5" on the scale of damage capability. They're a laughing stock right now, and I have seen many Commandos literally get booted from groups due to their weapons.
Just a word of warning from a former, hardcore Commando.

I have run around with something in my hands (M16A2/M203), on my back (pack), on my torso (flak jacket), on my head (kevlar helmet), and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff (ammo, MREs, water, etc.). It is from the US Marine Corps.
Running around with a Rifle in your hands or slungIS NOT HARD. Running around with something large like a Machinegun IS HARD.
You can run from me while you carry a pistol. I guarantee most guys will keep up, if they don't shoot you in the back as you run away first.
